Luxurient Lather, Amazing Aroma
When I was in high school, there was a girl named Danita who had the most amazing hair I had ever seen. It was straight, long, the color of chestnuts and smelled like heaven. We were close enough that she allowed me to put my hand in her hair and bring a handful up to my face to smell it. I felt honored.Suave Professionals Natural Infusion Awapuhi Ginger and Honeysuckle Shampoo has this same effect on me. The scent smells nothing like ginger or honeysuckle when you smell it from the bottle, but once you get it lathered up, it’s fantastic. The lather it makes is quite nice, much thicker than other Suave products I’ve used. My hair was fluffy and soft and smelled just like my memories of Danita’s hair in high school. Any product that can evoke a memory like that gets a very high mark from this reviewer.Danita, if you’re out there, this is the shampoo for you!
Great product, just like in the salon
I got this product because I loved the smell of the awapuhi ginger shampoo, conditioner, and hair whip that my hairdresser always uses on me. Their salon sells those products, but at 4x the price of this one! The first time I used this shampoo together with the conditioner, it smelled as heavenly as the salon brand and worked just as well at considerably less the salon price! I didn’t need to use a lot, a quarter-sized circle of shampoo was enough for my shoulder-length hair. It sudses up real well just like any regular department store brand. The smell also stays on longer in the hair than other shampoos I’ve tried that are more expensive than this. This is great for daily use as it cleans well, is gentle, very economical as you don’t need a lot per use, and smells like you just came out of the salon. I think this will be my daily shampoo from now on.
For Oily Hair. Smells great!
This is a great, no-nonsense kind of shampoo. First, let me say it smells fabulous. There is almost no ginger smell, and it is sweeter than expected, but I really liked it. I also have really oily hair and typically have to shampoo twice. I didn’t need to with this shampoo! In fact, it left my hair a perfect blend of dry and soft where I wasn’t pulling it back by the end of the day because it was too oily. Very impressed with this shampoo. And boy does it smell fabulous!
Thumbs down on scent and shipping; Thumbs up on Suave!
Let’s preface this review by saying that the majority of the hair and body care products I use is Suave. I have often tried other more expensive products, but return to Suave, as the quality, performance, and price can’t be beat. That being said, I am quite sure this shampoo would be wonderful…but, I couldn’t stand the smell. I know smell is subjective, but I think the turn off was because the product was damaged in shipping:1 STAR for product shipment! This is the 2nd beauty product I’ve received that has been shipped by Amazon in just a padded envelope…and damaged. Gross. There is nothing worse than trying to remove a bottle of thick liquid that has leaked over everything. You could smell the shampoo as soon as my husband walked in the door with the package. And it was so strong, it turned my stomach. Perhaps in its small, recommended dose of application it is fine (as the same ginger and honeysuckle leave-in product didn’t bother me quite as much). But, that overwhelming scent (which reminded me of a fussy old lady with too much flowery perfume) smeared all over and inside the ripped up, torn up bag turned me off…and I had a hard time even using it.4 STARS: So…based on my prior experience and love of Suave products, I would likely have rated the shampoo a 4, if the overwhelming scent bomb caused by insufficient packaging hadn’t changed my mind.Amazon shipping is usually great – but, again, the two damaged shipments I’ve received have both been beauty products, which should obviously be protected against loss of liquid everywhere. As a result, my overall review comes out somewhere in the middle… 🙁
Love the Scent!
I’m already a huge fan of Suave products and usually stick to their cheap-o 99 cent bottles (coconut or the ocean scent) but sometimes I pay extra for their professional line just because I like the more ‘grown-up’ scents (like Rosemary and Mint) and was thrilled to see a Ginger/Honeysuckle option. I love ginger everything! The scent is amazing though I’m not sure what to make of the texture. It seems a little more creamy/slimy in comparison to their other shampoo’s and doesn’t seem to lather as much as I’d like. Not a big deal — the only reason why I gave this a one star deduction is because it this shampoo does make my hair more prone to static compared to their other shampoos and/or makes my bangs lay limp on my forehead :(. Maybe I’ll have better luck with it in the summer when the air isn’t as dry.
Great product . . .
The world probably doesn’t need a new shampoo scent combination, and it’s hard to imagine what honeysuckle and ginger might smell like as a pairing . . . but this is great. It’s a strength-enhancing shampoo, which often means it’s heavy and tough to wash out. That said, this Suave product feels pretty light, doesn’t leave any residue, and the scent is both intensely good and not too heavy. I’m not terribly loyal to one shampoo, but I would buy this again.
Not the Scent I Expected
When I think of Ginger and Honeysuckle I think of those two scents combined together into something that’s a little sweet and spicy. Instead the result is something with a very strong floral perfumy smell. I don’t know how to describe it except that it’s just way too strong of a scent and not a good one. The shampoo still feels great and makes my hair feel great, but I wouldn’t buy the scent.
Suave Professionals Natural Infusion Awapuhi Ginger and Honeysuckle
Suave Professionals Natural Infusion Awapuhi Ginger and Honeysuckle.I love this shampoo. It leaves my hair clean and fresh. And soft. I love the softness. Soft, smooth, and sleek. And refreshed. And I love the smell of this shampoo.I go through shampoo like crazy. I have hair, and I wash my hair, spray my hair, and use other products. There is always some product (hairspray, etc) that needs to be washed out. I am happy to say that this shampoo washed all that stuff out! Now only to put more in . . .Highly recommended.
New Life For My Old Hair!
This is the first new shampoo I have tried and liked in a long time. I have been using another good shampoo, that cost a great deal more, for several years. Recently I asked my hairdresser what shampoo she used and she told me that she uses a variety of shampoos. She believes that it is a good idea to do this because each shampoo has different beneficial qualities. My hair is straight, fine, colored and thinning. Using this shampoo gave my hair more body and shine. Also, I have recently been losing a lot of hair. After using this shampoo, I have found a lot less hair on the top of my vanity. I am really happy to have found such a great shampoo at such a reasonable price!
The shampoo smells great. It leaves just a light fragrance in your hair. It cleans my hair very nicely without drying out my scalp. Some shampoos that clean my hair really dry out my scalp. This one feels as if it moisturizies my scalp. My hair is very fine and it gives it a little extra body. I like the way it does not make my hair feel greasy or weighed down. I will have to wait and see if it stops breakage. Overall, it is a nice hair product.
Nice scent, needs to be used with conditioner
First, let me state that I love the smell. A light floral with a hint of ginger, this shampoo provides a welcome change from fruity and perfume-y scents that my other products use. And the scent lingers after my hair is dry as well.Second, the shampoo lathers quickly and luxuriously and rinses easily. I feel that my hair is clean after using the shampoo, but I cannot tell whether it helps prevent breakage or makes my hair look fuller after using, since I have to have my hair pulled back and contained for my job.If you have hair of any length, you should probably use a conditioner with this shampoo. My hair is very long (below my hips) and I cannot use a shampoo without a conditioner. So, I purchased the complimentary conditioner, which has the same fragrance and allows me to comb through my hair with out difficulties. The price is good for this product, and I will likely purchase it again simply because I like the smell.
A nicely-scented shampoo that leaves the hair feeling softer and fuller.
It seems like so many shampoos start off working wonders for your hair and then, after a few weeks, stop performing their magic. So far, so good for Suave Professionals Natural Infusion Awaphuhi Ginger and Honeysuckle. The exotic-sounding ingredients make for a scent that’s refreshingly subtle and the shampoo doesn’t feel heavy on the scalp.More importantly, this, more upscale, new Suave line doesn’t contain parabens or dyes but is still easy on the budget. It’s earned a spot on our current haircare rotation.
Nice gentle shampoo with terrific smell!
I’ve had some health issues in the past year that caused large quantities of hair to fall out. It is now growing back in, but after being told I looked 10 years older than I did 2 years ago (when I stopped coloring my hair), I colored my hair. Consequently, I was looking for a gentle shampoo that would not exacerbate any of the hair-falling-out issues. This one fit the bill nicely. It’s made by Suave, so how "natural" it is I truly wouldn’t bet on. However, it doesn’t foam as much as ordinary shampoos, and my understanding is that the big, over-the-top foam is one sign of bad ingredients. I can say that I *love* the smell, and I like how my hair feels clean but not with the overly stripped feeling that many shampoos can give.My hair color is a copper-ish tone, and while this isn’t marketed as shampoo for hair color, I have not seen any major color stripping either. It does seem to be a fairly gentle shampoo. All-in-all, I am quite pleased!
Leaves hair soft and manageable
This “anti-breakage” shampoo is for normal to fragile hair. I don’t think that applies to my unusually thick (or so my stylist tells me) wavy hair, but this shampoo left my hair feeling clean without any noticeable dryness on the scalp. It has a pleasant scent, and, after using it, I found my hair feeling soft and easy to manage.I’m not going to go on and on about the various ingredients because I haven’t a clue what awapuhi ginger and honeysuckle are supposed to do or if they did it to me. All I can say is this is a good shampoo. I’d use it again.Brian W. Fairbanks
Smells Great – Hair looks fuller
As I have gotten older I have lost a lot of the fullness in my hair. I hate having limp hair! I was happy to try the Suave Natural Infusion because I wanted to know if it would help my hair look fuller. When I first tried it I noticed how great it smells – like having an aromatherapy shower! I loved the smell. Second I loved how it makes a nice lather and left my hair feeling so clean after I rinsed it.When I styled my hair it did notice my hair had more fullness and bounce – the shampoo does not weigh down my hair like other shampoos do. This shampoo combined with the light weight hairspray I now use are making a nice difference in how my hair looks.
Leaves subtle aroma in hair
I am a big fan of Suave products. They are affordable and effective. This shampoo comes out like silky cream (not clear) and lathers fast with little needed. I like the smell it leaves on my straight hair. This shampoo does not cause frizz or static and leaves it very manageable. The bottle comes with a strip of clear tape over the top to prevent leakage while in transit. That bottle was then wrapped in bubblewrap in a manila envelope.
LOVE LOVE LOVE
I noticed a difference after 2 days of use! I am a 44 yr old woman whose hair is starting to show signs of "age." But what I like about this shampoo, is that is does what it says. My hair feels fuller, softer and stronger! I used to be a Pantene user, but Sauve professionals has won me over.
Better for someone with a dryer scalp and not color treated
Reviewed by Kellie: This product has some better ingredients and smells nice. It’s a bit more floral which isn’t my preference, but not bad. The shampoo is thicker and pearly. Overall, in seemed ok when washing my hair…as in seemed to clean it and rinse ok in our hard water. But within a day my scalp felt oily (usually wash hair every 2-3 days). After second wash my scalp didn’t feel so clean and my hair color was looking brassier. Although this product says it is safe for color treated hair, Sodium Chloride (salt) is one of the first few ingredients which can strip hair color. If you have a drier scalp and don’t color your hair, then this might be worth a try as it seems like a nice blend for shampoo. For me, I won’t use it again.
Not Sweet Smelling
I really like the Suave Natural Infusions line of hair care products. This version is just as wonderful as the argan oil infused shampoo. The ginger and honeysuckle shampoo smells wonderful. The smell is subtle and not at all sweet. The shampoo makes a rich thick lather that feels like a luxurious expensive shampoo. The bottle is nicely designed, the center being narrow and easy to handle. The cap is a flip cap that seals perfectly. The bottle can be stored either on its cap or bottom, making it easy to get the last drop of shampoo out. This shampoo left my hair soft and clean.
This is a mild and gentle shampoo good for hair that breaks, is dry or damaged. It is somewhat conditioning too. It made my hair feel soft and manageable, it doesn’t strip your hair of moisture like some shampoos do.
Nice, Basic Shampoo
This just proves that an inexpensive shampoo has the potential to be as effective as a more expensive brand. This Suave has a pleasant scent, rich lather, and rinses completely clean. My long hair was quickly (and effortlessly) relieved of tangles. It was left bouncy and shiny (even though I still followed it with a basic conditioner).Although I have never been particularly partial to Suave in the past (I like to experiment with all the new brands), I genuinely like the results of this product and highly endorse its budget-friendly price. Now, I’m a convert!
Perfect for my highlighted hair – value and quality
At age 50 I have a dryer scalp and don’t need to wash my hair daily, my hair is not colored so didn’t have to worry of color stripping away. I got a deep clean of my hair and scalp with small amount of shampoo, followed by a generous amount of conditioner and it stayed very clean for several days. I loved the scent which disapears when dry or at least is very feint. 5 star packaging – product was taped shut and in plastic – no leaking. The bottles are a bit inconvenient – they are so rigid you have to be a body builder to get all the product out – lol.
Here is a huge honeysuckle fan. I don’t use this product daily (I useJohn Frieda Sheer Blonde Highlight Activating Enhancing Shampoo (for Lighter Blondes), 8.45 Ounces (Pack of 2)which TRULY WORKS TO HOLD ONTO YOUR BLONDE HIGHLIGHTS LONGER), but when I do use it, I enjoy the aroma and silkiness of my hair.Recommended for silkiness and aroma. I cannot review if it makes my hair healthier, who knows. Not me. 🙂
Great lather, very strong honeysuckle scent
I decided to give this Suave shampoo a try. I’ve usedPaul Mitchell Awapuhi Shampoobefore and loved the smell of it. I’ve also used various Suave shampoos for years and always been satisfied with them. As a male with short hair, I’m not too concerned with spending $40 a bottle on my shampoos. A bottle that costs a tenth of that works just fine for me.PROS: I do like that the Suave Professionals Natural Infusion Awapuhi Ginger and Honeysuckle Shampoo thoroughly cleans my hair without leaving it too moisturized, resulting in greasy-looking or flat hair. While my hair is short, I do like a little substance to it, which moisturizing shampoos don’t allow. This particular shampoo also lathers extremely well, which makes me think it’s really doing its job.CONS: It wasn’t the awapuhi scent I was expecting, having previously used the Paul Mitchell brand. The honeysuckle is what you really smell, and it is very fragrant. For me, perhaps too fragrant. I’d rather my hair smell fruity or something other than flowery. While this for me is a great product and works well for my hair, I probably wouldn’t get it again because of the scent. I’d rather use one of the many other scents that Suave offers.
This shampoo smells absolutely wonderful and leaves my hair clean and shiny without drying it out. That’s pretty much all I ever ask for from a shampoo. Can I say for sure that it helps reduce breakage? No, but I do think it helps.
good inexpensive shampoo
This shampoo lathers well, has a delicate, nice fragrance, and leaves hair soft and bouncy. It has all the usual suspects as far as ingredients go, the sort that end in -ate (I’ve never quite worked out why shampoo as a simple cleanser needs the lengthy list of additives but there it is, even back-to-nature shampoos seem to have them), but I have encountered no ill effects from using this one and usually I am very happy with Suave’s products, as I am with the Awapuhi Ginger and Honeysuckle.
Not My Favorite
I’ve been using mostly Axe products for the past several years. I tried this shampoo and am not too impressed. The fragrance is very "meh". Doesn’t smell particularly like ginger or honeysuckle to me, and the smell is pretty subtle, and not all that great. Also I didn’t really notice a difference in terms of what it does for my hair. I think I’ll stick with Axe or the Suave 2-in-1 products, which I like much better than this.
I really wanted the scent of honeysuckle
I was disappointed in the scent. I know silly but that honeysuckle was why I got it. Every time I use it I think this time I will smell it but I don’t. So moving on. My hair is soft easy to work with and has a shine so that all worked. It doesn’t take very much to soap up my hair and it is a little longer than shoulder length so it will also last a while. Now if I could just get over the smell. Which isn’t bad just not what I wanted
Not for those sensitive to scents
I thought the scent of this shampoo was overpowering, even after blow drying my hair I could smell it. I did use it with the conditioner, so it could be the combination. After a few days I got used to it, but could still tell it was there. If you are sensitive to smells I would skip this. Otherwise, for my fine hair, it worked well and left it soft and shiny.
Great product for the low cost
Both awapuhi ginger – known as "shampoo ginger," where it grows in the tropics – and honeysuckle help give you soft, silky hair. Not to mention, both have luxurious scents! As Suave products are never very expensive, all this is a win-win for the consumer!
