Skin Obsession 30% Glycolic Acid Chemical Peel for home use: treats Acne, Scars, Sun Damage and Fine Lines.

Glycolic Acid has long been a first line product of the finest spas and Dermatology offices for improving the skin. For those of you who have heard the term “Lunch Time Peel”, this is the chemical used for i.Now you can do these peels at home safely and with fantastic results. Each 1 fl oz (30 ml) bottle of Skin Obsession’s 30% Glycolic Acid Peel will yield approximately 8-10 peels done at 3-4 week intervals, a potential savings of $733.00-$5000.00!. After peeling your skin will be feel softer, look smoother, with improved texture and tone and reduced hyperpigmentation (sun damage). Under the skin collagen is forming to plump up fine lines and smooth scars. With a peel of this strength, a full course of peels (8-10 peels) are needed to see optimal results. Glycolic Acid is a naturally occurring chemical belonging to the Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA) family. This important AHA is the smallest of the fruit acids and is able to penetrate the skin, allowing it to effectively dissolve the “glue” that holds dead cells on the surface of the skin. The dead skin cells are what cause a dull, uneven skin tone, and the blocking of pores leading to blackheads and acne. This dissolving action of the Glycolic Acid allows the dead cells to slough off. Our 30% Glycolic Acid Peel is a mild glycolic acid peel and is suitable for all skin types and both beginning and experienced peelers. There may be some redness right after the peel, but generally there is not much if any actual peeling (hence the name Lunch Time Peel, you can go right back to work after you have it done). The 30% is very safe when used as directed, but is a strong, professional strength peel (pH 2) and should be used only as directed. As with all products, a patch test is recommended to see how your skin reacts to the peel. By purchasing this product, you assume all risk associated with its use and are responsible for all results either intended or unintended from using this product.

I never want to be without this!

My skin issues: I’m in my mid twenties and my main skin concern is getting rid of scaring left behind by acne and unclogging my congested pores. I don’t have a huge problem with acne anymore – only clogged pores, a few black heads and the occasional cystic pimple (which of course are the ones that scar :/). I had issues with hyper-pigmentation and even a few “ice pick” scars from past breakouts that were really bringing me down. I felt that even without the acne I was still using a lot of makeup to cover up my scars and my skin just never really looked good even though the acne was under control. I started using products to help with the scarring and it helped, but eventually I worked up the courage to look into something a little stronger than just creams. I did a lot of research (and I do mean A LOT) before finally breaking down and getting this. Man am I glad I did!Pros: Where do I even start? This peel has completely transformed my skin. I’ve used it once a week for about a month now (which, I would just like to point out, is aggressive and not recommended) and my skin looks totally different…that’s no exaggeration. First, it has completely unclogged my pores; no blackhead, whiteheads or little bumps, so my skin looks super smooth. Second, the two deep scars on my cheek have risen a bit so they aren’t as deep and dramatic looking. With a little makeup, they are hardly noticeable. It also dramatically brightened my skin and evened out the tone so now I have that “glowing/fresh” complexion I’ve been wanting for so long. Also, all of my other products seem to work much more effectively now that I’ve used this peel – I don’t know how to explain it, but I use salicylic acid here and there as well as some other moisturizers and I no longer feel like either products are just sitting on my face. Everything seems to absorb better and I don’t have to use much to see the same results. My skin is softer, looks more plump and I haven’t had 1 blemish since using this….not 1! I can’t believe how something so simple has transformed my skin. It’s amazing!Cons: None…absolutely none.A word of caution: This is a chemical and if used improperly, it can cause serious problems on your skin. Read the instructions carefully, patch-test, and make sure that you have the neutralizer mixed before applying this just in case you need to take it off immediately. Be warned, it tingles and can become uncomfortable. I usually leave it on for 6 minutes max and then take it off. The first time I used it I experienced some redness around my chin and jaw that lasted for a day or so, but that hasn’t happened since. Do your homework, know what you’re getting yourself into and if you have doubts, see a licensed esthetician or dermatologist and get their advice on what is best for your skin before going ahead and doing it yourself. All that being said, I never EVER want to be without this product. Now that my skin is in better condition, I will probably start using it once a month (as recommended) and hopefully it will continue to improve. I’m SOOO glad I found this. I have never been more impressed with any other product! This stuff is just great.

great product

i have done chemical peels in medical offices for years and decided to order this and give it a try at home. the instructions that came with it were great and it works just like the stuff you get in the office for a fraction of the price!

Great for beginners

I have had peels in spas but I had never done one at home. My skin is very tough and not the least bit sensitive but I started with the 30 percent just to be on the safe side. The results were great and the instructions are easy to follow. The peel was not strong enough for my tough skin so I ordered the 50 percent from the same seller. Will use this one for maintenance. The results from this one were great so I can’t wait to see the results from the stronger one. This one is great if you have sensitive skin or are just starting with at home peels. Can’t beat the price.

Perfect DIY home chemical peel

I am approaching my mid 30’s & just hate seeing the forming of fine lines & wrinkles on my forehead & I can’t afford to go to a spa & get this treatment, so I thought I’d give this a go. I must admit, I was a bit apprehensive but bit the bullet & went for it. I really appreciate the fact that on the directions, it clearly informs you it stings because it sure does. The sting starts immediately. It advised that a hairdryer on low cool air would help, but I opted for a fan, which really helped. I only left it on for close to 4 minutes & as soon as left the fan to go to the sink to neutralize it, my face was on fire. The directions also disclose that during the neutralization process, it stings more & it does. But my face immediatly felt tighter with no stinging sensation after. I had minimal peeling & great results with my skin looking firmer & brighter. I love this & can’t wait till my next treatment to see how my skin progresses. Other then this product legitimately working, the other great thing about it is the directions explain & inform you of everything that will transpire!I followed up my treatment with pure aloe vera gel that I let soak in & then before bed, I put a bit of my facial cream on. Followup: Been doing treatments once a week & skin keeps improving! Love this!

This is my first chem experience so I have nothing to compare it to, but after just one use i am impressed: it has gotten rid of 2 irritating and persistent blackheads that I had literally had for YEARS, around my nose – gone. My skin tone is somewhat more even over all, and I had some shedding of edge-of-brow/temple crepey skin(keep the chem away from your eyes); can’t wait to do second application. Judging from how it’s working so far, I think I will be able to achieve desired results, which is even skintone/less hyperpigmentation, smaller pores, shedding of more excess dry skin etc; will update.

Great first time peel

My first peel, it came in about 3 days, but I waited for everything I needed to apply the peel. It did sting a bit (fan your face) but I was able to leave it on a good 5 to 8 minutes, The peel was not as even as I would have liked, (my fault). Make sure you put on a good amount on the brush and make it even! I was kinda scared, so I could have done better. anyway, very red angry skin the next day, but no peeling. I stayed out of the sun 100% for about 48 hrs. Started peeling day 2 and I am still peeling on day 4 and do not want to be seen in public yet and I carry an umbrella outdoors. I highly suggest you purchase some sunblock, good sunglasses and a sun hat before doing this and be ready to stay home for at least 3 days if you are new to peels.I have used only 100% hyaluronic acid and pure vitamin E from the gel ampules. Washing my face with a hot washcloth. I used some 110 sunblock yesterday to walk the dog and I broke out from the sunscreen. So yea, stay out of the sun! Now I am going out with an umbrella for minutes a day until my skin is a little more healed and I can use my sunscreen again.I can see the photo damage flaking off and the skin underneath looks fantastic. Doing another 30% peel in about 3 weeks. Yea, I am very happy and can’t wait to see what it will look like after another peel. Make sure you have everything you need before you do it, neutralize it, do not pick at it or exfoliate, and stay out of the sun while it heals. It’t potent stuff, so know what you are doing first.Very good product, it does what it says, good price. easy to use with clear instructions ( but I suggest more research if new to peels before applying). Bottle is nice tinted glass that I am keeping in the fridge. will buy again.EDIT:I’m going to do my third peel in about 2 weeks and these peels have taken years of sun damage off my face. It also has smoothed fine lines all over my face and my eyes look rested and tight in the morning. Once you can do the peel comfortably and correctly you can target problem areas by layering it. I think it also makes it easier for other products to enter the skin. I changed up my routine and my face is so smooth!

It works..but please be careful

Well i’ve been using this stuff for some months now…and it does what its supposed to do…sort of. it pretty much burns through any blemishes you have and when i say BURNS i mean just that. it burns through and is supposed to reveal a new fresh layer of skin…and hwile it does do this and did somewhat reduce the patch of whiteheads ive had for years on my cheeks it also leaves burn marks if left on sensitive areas too long..but not to worry..these burns go away along with the peeling your skin wil do after this treatment. the peeling process is probably different for everyone..i think depending on how i washed my face affected the after math result.. sometimes after applying i just got burn mark scabs that just went away after a week or so, other times ive gotten super dry crusty patches of peeling skin that looks gross. you’re not supposed to pick at it…just let it peel.WELL THE REASON I GAVE IT ONLY 3 STARS…is because after about four applications my face is less prone to blemishes but it looks dry as crap..and i moisturize my face everyday. this product, depending on your skin’s tolerance can leave a dry looking look to your skin. its actually very. so if you have already have dry skin its probably not a good idea to use this product.ALSO IF YOU HAVE SUPER ACNE PRONED SKIN, clear your face of most of the acne because if you apply this treatment over acne it will burn right through the acne AND WHILE YOUR ACNE WILL OVER SOME DAYS DISAPPEAR, you face will burn and where the acne once was you’ll begin gleeding alot and once the bleeding stops its going to turn into ugly scabs. trust me….i was in such a hurry to get rid of the acne that i did this. it burned like hell…and the scabs were unappealing…however my skin is medium brown so it wasnt repulsive because it didnt stand out that much. but fair skinned people will probably have worse results with the acne burns. I hope this helps.

Ouch! It works!

I use a daily 15% glycolic acid cleanser, so I think my face is primed well enough to handle easily a pure glycolic acid peel. I applied the peel as directed 7 days ago. I experienced the most significant peeling/flaking 2-3 days after the peel. Since then, my skin has healed quite nicely and has a lovely, youthful glow. This was my first time ever applying a peel. I think I will put myself on a bi-monthly schedule, as the stinging/burning involved is considerably more than what I ever experienced with the daily glycolic acid cleanser.

I thought I was ready for this

but now my face really hurts! I’ve been using the 15% TCA peel by another vendor for over a month, and I thought I “outgrew it” (need to leave it on for about 5-7 minutes twice a week to see any effect). So I bought the 30% glycolic peel from Skin Obsession. Holey moley, does it sting! Just applied it after a shower and left it on for exactly 3 minutes, then I rinsed for about 5 minutes with cool water combined with baking soda. True to the instructions that came with the package, my face still stings and it’s been about 35 minutes since I rinsed it.For others out there who think it’s all water and no acid–mine is VERY watery, but there is most definitely acid in the mix. The consistency is not a good indicator of the acid to water ratio (in chem class, the acids tended to be a little more viscous).I’ll update after my skin starts shedding.**Update 7/29/2013**It’s been a week since I last applied this product, and I honestly haven’t seen a difference in my skin tone, nor have I seen a difference in the color/size of my age spots. The initial “burn” wore off after about one hour and, based on the instructions that came with the product, that is to be expected. Since I live in a very humid climate and exfoliate every day, I did not see signs of shedding, dry skin, etc. I will continue to use this product in conjunction with my TCA 15% peel and post another update regarding the effects on my melasma.**Update 8/27/2013**I’ve applied this product three times since my last review, and it still burns like heck each time–burns to the extent that I think I remove the acid before it can really do its work. However, this product (in conjunction with the mild TCA/Salicylic acid peel I use on alternate weeks) seems to have lightened my age spots a bit. The spots are still there, but the cover more easily with my drugstore (cheap) foundation–plus, no new spots! In other words, I intend to continue my acid peels + assiduous application of SPF until I see the spots worsen.

Good at home treatmen

This is a great product as long as you FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS. Following the instructions are the most important part of at home chemical peels or any sort of at home treatment. (because you can have reverse affects and even scarring if you use it wrong) Also wear sunscreen bc your skin will be sensitized. Otherwise use and enjoy!

Be patient and you will see the results!

I am the kind of person who expects my headaches to disappear the minute I take a tylenol…very impatient. When i bought this product, i was expecting to have all my pimples, dark spots, and other imperfections on my face to disappear completely after my first usage. Well…That did not happen, but i was hopeful. I tried it as soon as i got it and i can tell you that this does “burn”!!! The next day, my face had a little glow and i did feel like it was “cleaner”. I have been using it once every 10days ever since and i can tell you i am starting to see the results. My face is smoother, i wear less make-up and it feels great. Im glad i bought this!

Burned my skin

Burned my skin. This stuff is quite dangerous. It can burn holes in your skin. Use it only if you know what you’re doing.

Didn’t notice any difference.

Great Stuff

First time trying this kind of stuff and this thing is perfect. I would definitely recommend this to someone wanting to improve his/her skin.

30% glycolic acid chemical peel

I ordered this peel since it was a lower strength glycolic acid and I really did not want to deal with a peeling down time like I had when using salicylic acid 20% chemical peel. This chemical peel only has two ingredients which are water and glycolic acid. This can make it a little tricky to apply since if you are using a gauze pad to apply the peel it may soak into the gauze pad and become difficult to get the liquid completely on the skin. On the up side the liquid allows the peel to absorb into the skin quickly. I left this peel on for ten minutes as described in the instructions which state using from 3 to 10 minutes and then used the water and baking soda to neutralize the peel. I experienced some redness after the peel and the next morning my skin was back to its normal color.

Works great

If you have more sensitive skin, 30% or less is the way to go. Skin Obsession acid peel works great, and yes, you will feel the burn! I think I will try 40% after this bottle is gone. Remember, no more than once every 3 weeks! And I learned the hard way — don’t get it on your neck (I got horrible temporary, itchy welts). But for the face it’s great.

My Skin Looks Great

This is one of the milder forms of glycolic peels you can get. I am 35 years old, one month away from 36. But don’t let that fool you, it still stings!!! I highly recommend starting at a low timing (I started at 3 minutes) and I used my blow dryer on a cool setting to help with the burn. I have only used it once, but I do see even a bit of a glow even after the first use. A little goes a long way. I moisturize with coconut oil for several days after as it has no added aha products, etc. Highly recommended.
