Ouch… of the minority here
Since December has arrived in NYC I have found my skin to be very dry. We have had an unusually warm winter thus far but it is still wreaking havoc on my legs, arms, forhead and cheekbone area. T-zone area a bit oily with the rest being rather dry and flaky. Now onto this moisturizer…The product arrived and I applied to my face after my morning cleaning regimen. My first observation was that it had no scent at ALL. The product is labeled for sensitive skin, hypo-allergenic and noncomedogenic that is dermatologist tested to be pure and free of harsh chemicals and dyes. I just don’t agree with their claims because of my personal experience. I use Dermologica moisturizer, scrubs and sprays. I alternate with St. Ives scrubs every third day and use an Aveeno nightime moisturizer nightly. For full disclosure I will let it be known that I had abandoned my regimen for a week which initially lead to the dry, flaky skin on certain parts of my face. This is the reason that I reached for this moisturizer the day that it had arrived. Initially as I applied I found that it took a bit of cream to actually cover my face and have it feel ‘moisturized’. It didn’t feel as if it was enough. By the midday my face didn’t feel as dry as the day before. The next day I applied again but my skin just didn’t feel right. It felt rather tight and it stung… initially I thought the stinging was a ‘refreshing cold feeling. By the third day I finally realized that the refreshing feeling was actually burning my face. It was feeling sunburned!! I didn’t realize something was wrong until I took a photo for Christmas Day and I was all red. Somehow the flash enhanced the mess on my face which alerted me to turning on all the lights in my bathroom to inspect my face. I discovered that it has a red tint on my upper cheeks/bones and the t-zone area. I was appalled and very upset that a product marketed for sensitive skin actually did this to my face. I discontinued use immediately and found that my skin while not noticeable visually felt like it had tiny bumps allover. Back to my tried and true products and my face recovered two weeks later. Never will I use any product that is not popular in the USA, nor will I believe a good thing can be found dirt cheap. My Dermologica products are minimally 25 dollars a piece but worth every penny. If you need a good value than Aveeno and St. Ives products will fit the bill.Do not recommend this product. It wreaked havoc on my skin. My skin isn’t that sensitive and this product did damage; I am afraid if a poor soul that had ultra sensitive skin used this product. I went to have a treatment on my face and the aesthetician remarked that my face seemed, ‘sunburned’. I wish I could point out which ingredient did this but I dumped the tube after I saw that picture Christmas morning. It truly felt as if there was alcohol in the mix.
Simply Falls Flat
I have sensitive skin and have to be careful what I use on my skin, especially my face. I’m always on the lookout for new facial products to use, especially in the dead of winter when my skin is very dry. I was looking forward to trying Simple Replenishing Rich Moisturizer. I was expecting a natural product. Upon its arrival, I read the ingredient list. Many of the ingredients sounded anything but natural. It reads more like a science lab project. The box does state the product is dermatologist tested, noncomedogenic, and hypoallergenic. As I opened the bottle of moisturizer I thought it smelled pleasant and natural, not perfumey. The lotion is very light, too light. After reading the name of the product, I was expecting something much thicker and richer. I have been wearing it every day since I received it but after a few hours, my face feels dry and tight again. The lotion goes on smooth and lightly. I don’t think it does a very good job replenishing or moisturizing. It did not upset my skin or irritate it in any way, which was a plus. It just didn’t do what it I expected a replenishing moisturizer to do. After a few hours, my face felt like I had not put on any moisturizer at all. There are plenty of less expensive products in the drugstores that perform much better. I would have to say Simple falls flat for me!
Simple Kind To Skin
The first ingredient listed on this item is “Water”, that means water is the main ingredient. That’s a big negative. I don’t like this. I usually use oil of olay original. I love it, it makes my skin look and feel like a new babies skin. This stuff makes my face feel dry and tough. It gave me no softness at all. It does have a little odor, nothing terrible but nothing good either. It reminds me of what lotions smell like after they have gotten very old and runny. It feels like it blocks my pores. I left it on for an hour or so then washed it off. I won’t be using the rest of it. If you want something that truly works everytime with a minimal amount needed & is mild to sensitive skin & hypo-alergenic then use Oil of Olay. Just the “original” is all you need. I use about the size around in my hand of a dime & it’s enough to do my entire face & neck & I don’t have to worry about if it gets near my eyes, I just shut my eyes and massage it lightly all over my face. Keeps it smooth and soft and moisturized all day & it keeps your skin looking younger and no smell to it except fresh and clean & it leaves NO oily or sticky residue. This item does none of those things. Try oil of olay and you won’t need anything else. I’m 60 and started using it at age 30 and I don’t look 60, not my words, all my friends say that and they can’t believe I’m 60. I swear I don’t look over 50,at best, & it’s due to using oil of olay original.
it burn my skin
i wear it under my make it burn my skin just throw all there product the moisturizer dry out in the bottle .
Good basic face and neck moisturizer
The Replenishing Rich Moisturizer by Simple is a vitamin enriched moisturizer without perfume or dyes designed for sensitive skin. It is a good moisturizer. My wife, who uses a variety of moisturizers, liked it. It wasn’t outstanding, or anything that made her jump and yell wow, this is the best stuff ever, but then, what moisturizer would ever make one do that. She says it is good and she likes it.The three selling points on the box are the vital vitamin Pro-Vitamin B5 that helps restore, soften and smooth, the skin loving nutrients Glycern, Bisabolol, and Allantoin, and that is has no perfume or dyes that could irritate your skin. It did not irritate, and worked as a good skin moisturizer. It is a fairly small bottle, so you want to use this for face and neck, and not your entire body or you would go through it pretty fast. If you want a full body moisturizer, you may want to get something that comes in a bigger bottle. Overall, a good product that my wife says worked fine.
Moisturizes and feels good.
I have not used this as a facial moisturizer simply because I am too happy with the products I already used. Instead, I took it to work where the hand soap in the bathroom is very drying. I use this Simple moisturizer on my hands and it works very well. It is easy to apply, absorbs well, and doesn’t have a strong scent at all. It has certainly saved my hands at work.
Comfortable, light weight moisturizer
This moisturizing lotion feels light weight and disappears quickly into skin. It is non-greasy and doesn’t irritate my sensitive skin. Makeup goes on smoothly over it, but I would never describe it as “rich “
Like most such products, Replenishing Rich Moisturizer delivers a little less than it claims. It feels good on the fingers as you apply it to your face, and it feels good on your face, but as for the replenishing and nourishment it promises, well, how exactly are you supposed to tell? Maybe I’m expecting miracles, but I don’t see how this product, supposedly the number one moisturizer in the U.K., is any different than most such products available.Brian W. Fairbanks
I Had Hoped For Better Results
I have been using this daily for almost a month and to be honest, I haven’t noticed any change in my skin. In it’s favor, it has a light, not perfumey (if that is a word) smell. It goes on smoothly and does not leave a greasy look or feel to my skin. When I first apply it, my skin feels smooth, and I want to think that it will moisturize my skin. But … after all of this time, my skin looks and feels the same as it did before. I don’t see or feel any difference. In it’s favor, I have very sensitive skin and this did not cause any redness or other problems.I am disappointed, as I had read favorable reviews, and had I hoped for more positive results.
Worked Great for Me!
My skin is more moody than sensitive. It is dry in some areas and super oily in others. I have to be careful when using moisturizers because some of them turn my face into a shiny, greasy mess. I had never heard of Simple before, but I was willing to give it a shot.I first tried Simple on my hands and a spot on my leg to make sure it didn’t feel greasy or gross on my skin. I was impressed with the results, so I tried it on my face too. This moisturizer worked great for me. It makes my skin feel moist, soft and healthy. It doesn’t make my skin feel heavy, oily or gross. It also kept my skin feeling great all day long. I love that it is scent-free. I like scented lotion for my legs and arms, but not my face. Plus, the lack of fragrance means my Husband can use it too.I would definitely recommend trying this moisturizer. It may not work for everyone, but it makes my face (great on the hands, legs and feet too!) feel fresh, moist and healthy.
An Average Moisturizer
First of all, for my skin the title is a misnomer – this is simply not a “rich moisturizer” nor do I think it “replenishes in any way. It is simply a plain vanilla moisturizer which in my opinion would be most suitable for young skins that do not need much, if any, hydration. The price is certainly reasonable, and I didn’t detect any fragrance. I’d categorize it as a typical drugstore brand (not meant in a perjorative way) – simply nothing out of the ordinary. Favorite drugstore brands are Cetaphil and Aveeno, which I think you can buy for about the same price with much greater results. This is being tucked away on a shelf until warm weather to see if the results are any better when my skin isn’t so cold, dry and thirsty.
Simple. . . non-greasy. . .. nice moisturizer
I really like this moisturizer. It’s non-greasy. . . it doesn’t have a pungent smell. . .. it doesn’t leave my face oily. . . it’s reasonably priced. . . . nice consistency. . . . . Really nice overall product. I look forward to trying other products by Simple.
This is an okay moisturizer but nothing to write home about. It left my skin feeling very sticky even an hour after applied. I only use it at night because of this. Will not be repurchasing.
Well, I like it
Worked really well for me. I have very sensitive and dry sky and it lasts pretty much all day for me. I also noticed that once I started using it my skin overall wasn’t as dry the next day after a shower. It also worked well for elbows and arms if you have some extra. I always use too much I might as well use it on something. They are now soft and smooth after using this. It didn’t break me out and is very light and pleasant smelling. I liked it.
Simple lasted all day while my skin looked dry at the end of the day with L’Oreal
The Simple moisturizer arrived halfway into one of the driest Decembers on record. The cold, dry weather proved too much for my wife’s regular moisturizer,L’Oreal Paris Youth Code, so she gladly broke her brand loyalty. A week later, my wife was ready to make the switch permanent.”Usually, when a beauty product says it is unscented, you can still smell something when you use it,” my wife said. “This moisturizer was really nice because it doesn’t have any perfume.”We researched Simple Kind To Skin Replenishing Rich Moisturizer and learned the company’s origin was to help people with sensitive skin. The company first introduced perfume and color-free soap in 1960; cleanse, tone and moisturizing products were added in 1978.”Simple lasted all day while my skin looked dry at the end of the day with L’Oreal,” my wife said. “I first tried using the same amount I had used with L’Oreal but that was too much. Simple moisturizer sinks into the skin better; it isn’t greasy but it left my skin moist to the touch.”The product packaging states that the moisturizer is “Dermatologist tested; Noncomedogenic; Hypoallergenic [and] Does not contain any perfume, dyes or harsh irritants that can upset your skin.”My wife is switching from L’Oreal to Simple. She told me Simple Kind To Skin Replenishing Rich Moisturizer is a better value and does a better job moisturizing her skin in winter weather.Rating: Five stars
Results are Great, Application not Perfect
Let me start with the positive – this is a great daily moisturizer. It does exactly what it should do. My skin feels soft and smooth, and I think it even looks a little more brighter and it’s tone more even. My skin tends to get dry and flaky during the winter months, and that’s not happening since I started using this product. Now the negatives – not sure what ingredient causes this, but there’s a slight burning sensation when I first apply this. The first time I used this, I had a head cold and my skin was a little chapped and raw under my nose. I figured that’s why I felt the burning. But now that I’m over the cold and my skin is back to “normal”, I still feel the burn when I first apply the lotion. The lotion also has a slightly greasy feel to I, altho it does NOT leave your skin feeling greasy or make it look shiny. The lotion absorbs quickly and is fast drying, so makeup application is smooth and easy.Overall I really like this moisturizer and would recommend it to others and buy it again!
I don’t understand why, but this actually makes my skin drier. Even after several applications, my face started flaking out. What a waste of money. I’m so sick of looking for the right moisturizer.
Definitely will buy more
My skin is dry and sensitive. Most moisturizers I’ve tried before may be great before bed but not under makeup. Or the smell turns me off no matter how nice it makes my skin feel. Finally here is a moisturizer that is light, creamy, no dyes, no perfumes, no sting and is not greasy. Add that I can put it on a few minutes before makeup and my makeup doesn’t slide off my face and I have enough reasons to buy more.
Worked Well for My Oily, Sensitive, Forty-Something Skin
I’m in my forties and since forever my skin is mostly oily. I’ve come not to mind this as my dermatologist says it will keep me younger looking longer than if it was too dry.I also have experienced more acne since I turned 25 than I ever did in my teens and to top it off, my skin is sensitive so finding a product that I can use that doesn’t irritate, cause acne or make me look like an oil slick is difficult.I liked this moisturizer. I sometimes get dry patches in the winter and this cleared those up with no irritation, no annoying smell and no break outs. It seemed to disappear into my skin fairly quickly so I could apply my foundation within a few minutes after the moisturizer.Sometimes an hour or more after applying a moisturizer under my foundation and it will “reappear” and make my face SUPER shiny and greasy feeling, especially my forehead but I didn’t experience that with this moisturizer.I would use this again because it worked well for me and I like that it contains things that are good for my skin.
Not for me
While Simple Replenishing Rich Moisturizer is indeed completely scentless, the amount of stearyl alcohol in the product reduces its ability to moisturize — at least for my (older) skin. I live in a very dry and windy state and so I do tend to need a rich moisturizer and do my best to avoid product that list any kind of alcohol in the first few ingredients. One thing I know about skin — we are all different and our skins will always react differently to moisturizer. However, I highly doubt that any woman in her 40s or older is going to find this product useful.I do feel as if the advertising for this lotion is attempting to describe it as different than most or special but as far as I can tell, there is nothing special in this and it does not seem to penetrate even as well as something like Curel does.I don’t recommend this product — but it may work well for some so if you can check it out with a sample, you can decide for yourself!
It moisturizes well and goes on smoothly, but it had me sneezing after I put it on. Took it back the next day. Glad I’ll be getting my money back, because it’s expensive at $10.00. I do wish I could just take the sinus agony though because it is a decent moisturizer. Yet, unfortunately it did not work for me.
Definitely a simple, “NO BELLS or WHISTLES,” moisturizer …
I would describe this lotion as a very simple (“no bells or whistles”), and no miracles, moisturizer. This very light lotion is great for someone looking just to simply moisturize her/his face without any scents or other long-term benefits/miracles. It goes on light and non-greasy and is easy to use under make-up. However, if you are looking for other short-term or long-term benefits, I did not see any after using this for almost a month. The results were similar to using pure aloe vera gel. I don’t NOT like the lotion, but I don’t love it either.
Maybe I’m missing something…
Maybe I’m missing some special sttribute of this product, but on my face it feels no better…no worst…than a simple generic lotion I can buy at any local drugstore. The texture and efffect can best be described as “Jergen’s like”. I’ll look forward to reading the feedback of other reviewers for a revelation of the magical attributes of this unremarkable product.
For being touted as a “rich, replenishing” moisturizer, I’m not overly excited about it. To be fair, it works fine as a moisturizer, but its effects are not long lasting by any means and I find myself having to use several applications daily. Pros: its non-greasy and Its not perfumy smelling. The not so good: It does have a bit of a chemical smell (not immensely terrible though), and not long lasting enough for me to consider buying it regularly. Anyway, I like other moisturizers much better, such as Burt’s Bees, and OPI Avojuice Skin Quenchers, and will not be buying this on my own. I suppose for the person who hypo-allergenic, its worth at least trying.
No irritation or smell; good basic moisturizer at a nice price
I faithfully use a moisturizer with SPF 30 every day, but my husband likes to have a basic moisturizer without sunscreen, so I ordered this for him. He liked it so I thought I’d try it out too during the winter months when I’m inside most of the day. The product is light and non-greasy, and a little goes a long way. You just need a few drops to moisturize your face. There is no scent, and it absorbs quickly. It’s a nice basic moisturizer but isn’t exactly life-changing. For the price though, it’s tough to beat, especially since so little of the product is needed. As far as sensitivity, I have very sensitive skin and use Retin A nightly. When I apply this lotion, I don’t get any stinging or burning sensation at all, even on overly dry areas.I wish this company made a product with SPF 30. They do have a cream with SPF 15, but I couldn’t find it in SPF 30 on Amazon. I may consider the SPF 15 product as the price is very attractive.
Fragance free, great for sensitive skin
I live in a desert climate, and so in the winter keeping my skin moisturized is both essential and a challenge. The Simple Kind to Skin Replenishing Rich Moisturizer has done a decent job of keeping my sensitive skin from drying out. It’s not quite as moisturizing as the cream I was previously using, but the lotion does do what it claims to do. There have been a few times when I’ve needed to reapply it later on in the day. It has not irritated my skin or cause me to break out. I have even used the moisturizer on my two-year-old’s face without any concern about added dyes and perfumes. I’ve been fairly pleased with the moisturizer. It does what it claims to do 🙂
I do have sensitive facial skin, and hoped this would work well. I’ve only been using it for a few days now, but for a product that is claimed to be “kind to skin”, it stings a little all over my face, as if using alpha hydroxy. And I had a little cut off my lip, and that stung quite a bit. And while I don’t plan on putting it in my eyes, I do want one moisturizer that I can use all over my face. Moisturizing is okay, I guess. It’s not greasy, either. It says Simple is the sensitive skin experts. So why does it sting at all, much more than most other products I tend to use, such as Aveena, Dove, & Olay? Also, it says it contains no animal products. I wish it also said not tested on animals!
Great For My Hands…
I liked the idea of this as a potential night lotion instead of a heavy cream (I wear a moisturizer with SPF during the day). Although I liked the feel of this (not sticky or greasy and absorbed easily), my skin broke out after using this for three day. To be fair, I have sensitive skin that reacts like crazy to a lot of stuff even though I have had lots of birthdays. I do, however, LOVE it for my hands and nail beds, much better than most of the lotions and creams I have around expressly for that purpose. It seems to “stick around” a lot longer than those other products, and I really, really like that. So although I will not be using it on my face, I will definitely be buying it again to use on my hands (I work in health care and wash my hands a LOT).
Good quality moisturizer
I guess this stuff’s been around in Europe for awhile. My wife’s been using this product for a couple of weeks and likes it a lot. The moisturizer is unscented, and this is a MUST for people like her who have allergies and can’t use the myriad of scented lotions. The moisturizer is not greasy. Helps make skin soft and silky feeling, and lasts for hours. I couldn’t think of one thing negative, even the price is decent.
Okay but not for me
This is an okay moisturizer but it would not make my shopping list. It goes on with a greasy feel. This goes away after it has some time to absorb but gives a much longer period than I like before I could comfortably apply a layer of foundation. Also it has no SPF which is a must for any moisturizer that I buy.
