I absolutely love this product. I have very thick, long hair that is somewhat on the more coarse side. I’ve tried the tapered curling wands and always end up looking like Shirley Temple after she stuck her finger in the light socket. This waving wand is the solution I’ve been looking for. I can finally wear my hair curly without looking ridiculous. Whenever I use it I get so many compliments and people always want to know what I used. Remington makes great products at a very reasonable price and this is no exception. It’s my favorite hair styling tool at the moment.
My hair is notoriously bad at holding a curl. This wand gets the job done though! If I curl it in the morning without combing out and allowing the curls to naturally fall it lasts all day. The major plus of this wand is it’s NOT tapered. So your hair doesn’t slip and evenly curls.
Don’t quite get the elliptical shape-leaves creases!
I don’t know if I’m using it wrong (not sure how I could) but it tends to leave weird creases in my hair because of the elliptical shape. I don’t really see the point and would just recommend a normal wand. I do like the temperature option and it heats up quickly. But I’ve used it twice and that’s probably all I ever will.
Want perfect, beautiful waves? Buy this wand!!
Seriously, this is the BEST styling tool I’ve bought in a loooooong time!!! I have all kinds of wands, irons, wavers, and curlers (including the Remington Pearl curling wand which is similar to this, except it’s round and tapers from wide to narrow) and this elliptical wand outshines them all. I’m always in the market for a new styling tool that promises gorgeous results. Let’s be honest…most of them end up at the back of my cabinet and rarely see the light of day. This wand however, sits on my counter because I use it so much.I like my other Remington Pearl wand (the round tapered one) because every time I used it it left my hair shiny and really curly, but it’s kind of a pain to use because the hair slips down the wand so easily. Even though I like that one a lot, it still only gave me ringlets. I’ve been growing out my stacked A line bob and curls end up making me look like a demented orphan Annie. It’s reaaaally difficult to curl all the outgrown layers and I’ve been looking for something that would really deliver on producing gorgeous waves. Then, I came across this miraculous thing. Elliptical?! Whaaaat? I had to order. My wand came in a weird white box, completely void of the manufacturer packaging….It was weird and off-putting. Unlike some reviewers though I did receive the heat protecting glove (which looks and feels like one of those body scrubbing gloves. Also, for the record, that glove fits really tight and is uncomfortable to use and I have rather small hands and wrists).Regardless of the lack of packaging, the wand works just fine. It has a lot of heat settings which is handy for those that have rather dry and damaged hair, or for making loose waves.I’m not gonna lie, it takes some practice and getting use to. The first try you might think its a dud tool and that you wasted your money, but with patience and practice you will soon change your mind.Never have I ever (drink) used a tool that creates such beautiful waves as this wand does. It’s ridiculous. My hair comes out shiny, and red carpet worthy. No joke.Due to the fact the glove is super uncomfortable and bulky to use, I do recommend using it. I burned my hand pretty badly on my birthday because I was in a rush and it is still in the process of healing (and that was 2 weeks ago). The heat on this baby does not mess around.Like I said, it does get some getting use to and I recommend taking your time with it. Even with going slow and depending on your hair type and cut, I find that it takes less time to finish your whole head than it does with a curling iron or curling wand, and def produces better results than a multi-barreled waver (RIP Revlon triple barrel waver).Don’t be alarmed by the weird packaging (btw Amazon, what’s UP with that?!), try it out, practice using it, and I’m sure you’ll love it as much as I have come to!!
I have used this on my daughter’s biracial coarse curly hair. It heats up fairly quickly and makes a very nice curl that lasted all day (and I imagine would last longer on a less active child or adult). I am no curling wand expert by any means, but this wand was easy to use, and I did not burn my fingers once (yay me).
Happy with purchase
I already have the Conair tapered curling wand which I love so much and gives me the perfect tight curl but I wanted something that was a bit quicker to use and gave a more loose wave. I tried the bed head curling barrel and it just didn’t even come close to giving me lasting curls so I came back to this pearl line and tried the elliptical wand. I still prefer the tapered iron but this wand has everything I was looking for. I can curl larger chunks of hair at a time and the curls are indeed far more loose and last all day. I can also use it a little quicker which is great.
So, I just got this in the mail a few days ago and used it for the first time yesterday. I have long, thick, straight, textured, white girl hair that does NOT hold curls for more than a few hours (if I’m lucky). I used this yesterday morning before work to create awesome "mermaid" curls/waves. Aside from a heat protector, I didn’t use any products. I was very pleased with how my hair turned out but was pessimistic about it holding up through my work day. Not only did the curls last all through my work day, but I slept on them and they are still hanging around this morning! I like that it comes with a full glove that can be worn on either hand (for doing the right and left sides of your hair). I have never used a "wand" before, I’ve always used the traditional curling irons with the clamp thingy. I thought this was very easy to use, I didn’t need directions or anything, and it was much faster than the traditional curling irons. It only took about 30 seconds on each section of hair. Did all my hair in about 15 minutes, when it would take me about 30-45 minutes to do with a traditional iron. Amazing! Love it!
You Have to Try this wand. I get so many compliments it’s unreal.
Not crazy about it
I was so excited to get this! Reading great reviews and watching demos online, I was ready to go. However, the barrel of this creates a kinkier shape than I’d like, and results in a tighter curl than I was going for. I’m returning it for a larger barreled iron. However, It does make my hair very smooth on top and the curls did last a bit longer than they ever did with my regular curling iron, so that’s a bonus, but my ends still looked dry and frizzy. My next curling wand will definitely still be a Remington, just something much bigger and rounder.
This is not the same as pictured.
I did not get the same wand as the one that is pictured but mine works just fine. I use all remington products and this is just another great one to add to the list.
Not quite as advertised
The wand itself works like a charm. I’ve always been picky about the way my hair is. I want it to look simple but good. This does that perfectly. The waves are chic and stay put. The wand also heats up ridiculously fast. There’s one downfall though. I did not get a heat protective glove, which makes using this difficult because I have to be super careful. I have burned my finer once when trying to wrap the ends of my hair, but not badly. Besides that, I definitely recommend this product.
This hair wand is GREAT! It gets hot really fast as soon as i turned it on.! I love that its my favorite color pink. I paid a great price for it! I love this Hair tool!
