I use to love this line. Before it was sold to Loreal and they reformulated everything. I no longer like this entire line. It used to be so much better. For those of you who used to love Pureology, good news! The original creator of Pureology started a new line. Color Proof , it is 100% vegan and much better than the new pureology. Cheaper too!

Was skeptical, but found out…

I recently started getting my hair professionally colored and the colorist pleaded with me to get a color shampoo and conditioner. I drug my heels and thought she was just trying to sell me something. I tried the Matrix there and it dried out my hair (which is strange because it used to not do that). I decided to go into one of the mall beauty salons/stores and ask what they recommended. They said Pureology is the best for color. I then decided to buy the 2.0 oz shampoo and conditioner in Hydrate and try it out. Pureology is notorious for being over-priced and expensive wherever you go. I have had the 2.0 oz bottles for over a week now and am very happy. I was told by the associate to use only a dime sized amount. I have super long hair, so you can understand my disbelief when my hair was able to be cleansed with just a small amount. My mom is a long-time Wen user and the products smell similar to Wen, but Wen made my hair a pile of grease. The conditioner in Pureology is not very thick, and it seems runny when it gets to my hair. But I am amazed that when I get out of the shower its as dry as straw but when its combed and blow-dryed out it is extremely soft and shiny. I tested the condition of my hair by twisting the pony tail section of my hair and feeling the smoothness. Matrix Sleek Look made it coarse, and frizzy and Pureology made it feel like silk. I don’t have to use my straightener (CHI) when I use this stuff and I save more money (and I hate to admit that as frugal as I am!). I was shocked when my husband said to spend what I want because he really likes how my hair looks and notices a HUGE difference. I would recommend trying the 2.0 oz sizes and seeing how they work before you invest in the big bottles. I’m not a health nut at all, but really don’t miss sulfates.

Expensive, but worth it

I started going gray when I was about 24, and have been getting my hair colored for almost ten years. During that time, I’ve tried all sorts of shampoos and conditioners — both drugstore brands and higher-end ones — and yet nothing compares to Pureology.I’ve never spent this much on a shampoo and conditioner until I started using Pureology Hydrate, but this combo really does work to leave your hair silky soft and to keep the color vivid and vibrant. The way I justify the cost is that I honestly can go much longer between color appointments at the salon. I used to have to get my highlights and overall color done every eight weeks since it would really fade when I used other products, but now my stylist only has to do root touch-ups (to hide the grays) when I go in — and I can go every two appointments for my color.Don’t expect a lot of lather when you use the shampoo; it doesn’t create a lot of suds, but it’s still doing its job. I also love the mint smell of the conditioner; it provides a nice tingle on your scalp when you use it.The other big plus is that this really does make your hair feel healthy and soft. I use a flat iron almost every day (really, really bad — I know!), but, since I’ve started using this, my hair doesn’t have the split ends and damage that it used to. It feels soft and looks shiny. I also use CHI Silk Infusion before blowing my hair dry, and the combo has made my hair look the best that it ever has.I wanted to try the “straight” versions of Pureology’s shampoo and conditioner, but have read reviews that say that they don’t make your hair as healthy as the Hydrate versions do, so I’m sticking to these. I have other friends who also use this product, and who also say that nothing else compares to it for keeping your color bright and vivid. As another tip, my stylist recommends that you wait 48 hours before washing your hair after getting it colored so that the color has time to set. She mentioned that this is especially important if you have lowlights so that the darker color can oxidize with your hair. Rinsing is OK, just no shampoo. It’s expensive, but worth it!

Weighs down fine hair

I heard raves about this product and have been trying a number of products recently trying to settle on a good set for my processed highlighted hair, plus new extensions. This is one of the sets I purchased. I found this particular version quite heavy for my fine hair. It did moisturize, but it was almost too much, and it really made my hair look a little greasy which is a problem that I have never had before because I have dry skin and hair. I will probably rotate it in once a week until gone, but not buy it again. If you have thick, more coarse hair, I bet it does wonders. It did feel silky and it doesn’t take much product – I just find with my baby fine hair it wasn’t a good match.

New formula is not worth the price

I used this shampoo and conditioner several years ago and absolutely loved it! Unfortunately I couldn’t afford to spend so much on shampoo so I switched it another brand for a couple of years. I really missed the smell and softness of Pureology so I bit the bullet and paid $80 for the approximately liter sized shampoo and conditioner and I was shocked! With the old formula, a dime sized amount would create enough lather to wash my very fine, medium-length hair. I had to use about twice that much with this new formula. With the old formula, the fragrance would linger through the day, every time I ran my fingers through my hair I’d get a whiff and it was wonderful! The new fragrance is subtly different and not nearly as strong. I am so disappointed! I’m still giving it two stars because even though I think the quality has gone down a lot and that it is no longer worth the price, it is still far better than any drug store brand and most salon brands out there. I noticed another review mentioned Colorproof which is made by the same people who used to make Pureology before it was bought by L’Oreal and I think I’ll be giving that a try to see if it is more like the old Pureology.

Great but pricey

This stuff will make your hair so soft and smell nice. Great brand for people who color their hair. The only downside is it is kind of pricey.

Delia Pemberville, OH

Best Shampoo and Conditioner

This is by far the best shampoo and conditioner I’ve ever used. They are sulfate free and don’t dry out the their while also providing good moisture and conditioning. They are quite expensive, so I’ve always shopped around for a better shampoo but have yet to find one that matches the quality of this one so I’m sticking with it.

Changed the formula?

I purchased the large size from a discount store and the conditioner was so thick I had to water it down constantly to get it out of the bottle. The conditioner lasted me a year. Even watered down several times it was still unbelievably thick. I purchased again this time from Amazon and this product is totally different. It smells the same, but is not nearly as conditioning. Lasted me three months instead of a year.

Great shampoo and large bottle

I have been using this shampoo for a while now and didn’t find anything better. A small handful is plenty for one time wash and I don’t even have to wash the second time, that’s how well is cleanses my hair. I feel my hair being more revitalized, softer and don’t fall out as much as before. A little expensive, but I feel it’s worth it.

Concepcion Naytahwaush, MN

not all shampoos are created equal

If you had asked me before I used this shampoo and conditioner, I would have said that spending tons of money on shampoo is stupid and unnecessary.WRONG.The price hurts, yes.But how my hair responds and feels…ooh, baby…it’s so right.Btw, I don’t even color my hair (only 35 years old), but I still use and recommend this product.

Does work a little, too expensive though

This product is quite expensive. I wasn’t impressed at first. It has peppermint oil in it which will make your scalp tingle. I noticed that after several uses of this, that my hair did have a shiny look to it that it doesn’t have with other shampoos. This will do, I would buy again if found cheaper. I also like American Crew. It’s cheaper and makes my course hair soft and wavy.

Melinda South Branch, MI

Works great, but I’m not fond of the scent.

This shampoo/conditioner combo works great–it leaves my hair feeling soft and shiny…and the color lasts a long time. My only problem with this product is the smell of the shampoo. I love the conditioner’s minty scent, but the shampoo’s is kinda odd. I’m not sure I’ll buy this again–there are other products that work just as well and smell heavenly.

Liza Graford, TX

I enjoy this product

I am someone who will buy cheap clothes and then blow tons of cash on my hair, so seeing the pureology for this price was a heavensent.Pros- I like the mint feel of the conditioner-I love that you only need to use a tiny bit of each for it to do it’s job. YOU NEED to have your hair soaking wet to apply both though is the trick, my hairstylist taught me :)-it’s light, won’t weigh down my hair- I don’t know if it holds my color quite yet,it’s been a while since I’ve dyed my hair and I only get highlights. I will update shortly as I am going darker this time.CONS- I don’t like that the shampoo bottle is bigger than the conditioner bottle, isn’t it rule of thumb that women always use more conditioner? lol-you HAVE to use the two together, the shampoo makes your hair porous for the conditioner to seal, another thing my hairdresser taught me.-I do not know if this product is good long term as this is my first large bottle but I can update that too.Overall great product.

Stacey Rothschild, WI

The best.

I’ve been trying other products for a change and came back to Pureology. After many months, I was surprised at how much I’ve missed this product and how wonderful it is. I had to remind myself – A little goes along way.

Cleo Gans, OK

Other than the shipping of this item from Amazon sucked (the bottles leaked everywhere in the packaging) the product is great!! the shampoo is very concentrated so you don’t need a lot and the conditioner has some mint in it and makes your scalp tingle. both smell AMAZING

Sandra Port Salerno, FL

My hairdresser recommended Purelogy to me. It’s not cheap but i was able to get a huge sample pack that;s very affordable. I love the way my hair feels and looks after shampooing and conditioning with Purelogy. Either I will continue with the sample packs or break down and buy the full bottles, either way i will continue to use these products. Also the sample packs come with the mask which is nice to use once a week. There are 10 samples in the shipment.

Nothing special

I bought this shampoo because it is hydrate, but it does not. Personally for me it is just mediocre shampoo.

Aida Hye, TX

Great Product, but Expensive for Quantity

This is a terrific product. I’ve been using it about twice a week for about five weeks or so. I think it’s stimulating new hair growth and faster hair growth overall. It doesn’t leave my hair as soft and silky as the Hydra Cure Intense Moisture Hair Masque, so if you’re looking for silky hair, go with the masque. If you’re looking for a great product that stimulates hair growth, this is the one.

Ella Woodville, MA

Use to love it

I use to love the Pureology line, but lately it seems very, very thick and really weighs down my hair. I won’t be buying it any more, found a brand that hydrates, but is not as thick and oily.

Saundra Karnak, IL

Good product

I missed the fact that this value set is for the regular Hydrate conditioner, when I prefer the Hydrate Light. I have flyaway hair and the light version corrects that without being too greasy. This regular kind I could only use on the ends, having it near the scalp made it greasy. This is the same product sold at the salon (at least the ones sent to me were) which is nice as I worry about people faking products like this because they cost so much! This is a much better price than I found in the salon, though.

Terra Cody, NE

Very good products

I find most shampoos and conditioners make my scalp itch, Pureology doesn’t. All my other shampoos are sulfate free, but still cause a problem. I don’t have dandruff, just itchy scalp.

Socorro Live Oak, FL

Good shampoo

This is certainly a top-line shampoo, and it works very well, but I still have yet to find the “one” shampoo that my hair loves in return. The smell is unique (very minty), and there is a definite improvement even after the first use. I still need more shine and moisture, though… but I have very tough hair. For the average person’s hair, I would totally recommend this shampoo

Diann Crossnore, NC

Expensive, but worth every penny.

First of all, I did not buy this product on Amazon. I bought from a reputable hair salon and am running low so I am on Amazon searching to buy more. (I am concerned from many reviewers stating that this is a fake product from a re-seller).Moving on…I LOVE this shampoo and conditioner! I am new to coloring my hair and spend a pricey amount at the salon keeping the grays from appearing. In the beginning I had been buying the cheapo Loreal stuff. I could go maybe a day in between washings before it felt funky and dirty and needed another wash. My hair also felt dull and lifeless. At the urging of my colorist I splurged on the hydrate shampoo and conditioner. I have been using the same bottle for more than 4 months! I literally use a quarter sized amount of product for my longer than shoulder length hair. My hair feels amazing and stays clean, soft, fresh and great feeling for days in between washes. My hair feels smooth and healthy. Now, onto the best part – the conditioner is absolutely amazing!! Again a quarter sized amount is adequate for my amount of hair. I rub the conditioner into my scalp and it leaves a tingly fresh feeling. I leave it on for a few minutes and work it all the way through to the ends. My hair is left smooth from root to tip with zero tangles.

Angie Hinsdale, MA

This is like the holy grail of shampoos and conditioners for me! I was nervous buying it since it’s pretty pricey, but it is worth every penny! My hair is so much healthier, and it barely tangles! I’m not getting split ends like I used to, either. It almost feels like I just got my haircut, that’s how healthy my hair is! The only downside is the bottles are pretty small, so if you have longer hair like I do, it goes pretty quick. However, I will definitely continue buying this product!

Rocio Pentwater, MI

Love the minty smell, and the way my hair feels!

I am a big Pureology fan- I have been using these products, and hydrating for a few years. The smell is minty and makes my scalp tingle, its a great way to start the day in the shower. My hair seems to always behave well when using it ( I try to switch products weekly )

Maxine Davis Creek, CA

Expensive but worth it!

I am a product junkie I try everything! I have used this shampoo off and on. I love it, the smell, how it makes my hair soft, but when I run out I pull one of my cheaper shampoos out and then hate my hair after months. I finally break and buy more Pureology! It is great if you are trying to go sulfate free which I want to do but other sulfate free shampoos make me feel like my hair is not getting clean. Pureology does lather a bit and it never makes me feel like my hair is greasy like other sulfate free shampoos. Due to its cost it is hard to keep going with. Try it out you won’t be disappointed.

Regina Forsyth, IL

Moisturizing and extends color!

This shampoo works well for me. It is moisturizing and extends my hair color, which consists of low lights and highlights. It also does not irritate my scalp as many shampoos and conditioners tend to do. I also having the smoothing shampoo and conditioner, but this one is my favorite. I have thick, color treated, and medium/course hair that is chest length. Several of my family members also use this duo with great results. Their hair is similar to mine, but short in length. I highly recommend.

Octavia Arlington, VT

I don’t know. this felt heavy and didn’t do too much for my hair. In fact, the conditioner was super minty, and I noticed that if you get any of the conditioner "down there" it’s like, CRAZY TINGLY in a bad way. So don’t get any of the conditioner ‘down there’. You’ll be NOT liking it. Or maybe you will. LOL But either way, I think this shampoo/conditioner felt too heavy and the minty feeling on your scalp was way overwhelming! It felt like my scalp was on fire !

Angie Calumet, MI

Excellent product

Love this product. Very nourishing and lasts a very long time. It costs much more than cheap drugstore brands, but is a good bargain in the end because you need so little of it to make your hair soft and shiny. Works well with curly hair!

Grey, colored, frizzy hair is now healthy as all get out

I have dry, frizzy, course, colored grey hair. After using Pureology for 2 months, my hairs feels like it did in High School. It took a while to trust the Pureology and not use additional product to protect my hair before using a flat iron, but now I use nothing but the Pureology shampoo and conditioner, a Rusk hair dryer and a Babyliss flat iron. My hairdresser was blown away by the difference. The Pureology is so gentle that every 3-4 weeks I have to use a regular shampoo to strip the excess natural oils out of my hair. Also, it lasts a long time. The shampoo really lathers a lot and has a bit of a detangler in it, so it’s easier to use the conditioner aferwards.
