Feels nice on the face
Unlike the earlier reviewer, I did receive the exfoliating cleanser from the Pond’s Luminous Clean product line. The product is a pearly white color, with a hint of sheen. I can feel the exfoliating beads in the cleanser, but not in an irritating way, they are smooth not rough. The cleanser spreads smoothly, and is very soft on the face.Does it make my skin luminous? I’m not sure, but it does not make it red and irritated. Like many exfoliating cleanser, in my experience, it can be a bit difficult to rinse off, particularly around the hair line. Maybe after a longer usage period, my skin with be luminous and glowing. If not, it is still a very soothing cleanser.
This cream cleanser leaves a soft, refreshing, clean, slightly invigorating feel. This is good for just face-washing or makeup-removing. And best of all, this cleanser has a light, hint of rose scent. I LOVE rose scent. The scent in itself is enough to make me happy. This cream cleanser has a light, refreshing feel and smells awesomely wonderful. The bottle says “gently draws out trapped impurities & make-up to brighten dull skin”. What more could you ask for? I often worry about all that make-up that goes inside the skin – because I know I don’t do facials or masks often enough.
Leaves Skin Soft
This is a nice facial cleanser. It’s a cream cleanser that leaves skin feeling clean but not dry. The fragrance is nice too. The scent is a bit of a floral. I’ll be using this daily along with my moisturizer.
Disclaimer: I doubt I’d buy a Ponds Facial Cleanser or Scrub. I prefer more natural products for my skin. However, I do occasionally use a “big brand” disposable cleansing cloth, so when I was offered a free tube of this product I figured I’d give it a try.Wow. I really hated it! It feels way too gooey and thick for a facial cleansing product. I’d say it was almost slimy. On top of that, it smells like a cheap fruity shampoo. I thought, “Oh boy. I’m putting chemicals on my face!” Yuck!I thought perhaps I’d be delightfully surprised with how smooth and soft my skin felt afterwards (or something). . .nope. Instead, I reached for what I normally use daily on my face, One With Nature Dead Sea Mud Soap (Soap-Dead Sea Mud 7 Ounces) to wash away that fruity smell. Did I mention how much I hated it?!I am recommending other products because I don’t like it when people say they hated one product without mentioning what they prefer. I also prefer another scrub: Queen Helene Natural Facial Scrub (Queen Helene Natural Facial Scrub, Oatmeal n Honey, 6 oz (170 g).) It’s been around for ages.
GOES ON SMOOTHLY
As someone who has been using Pond’s cold cream for years, I wanted to try this new cleansing product. I like the texture of this product, it goes on smoothly and it doesn’t leave my skin feeling dry; however, I’m giving it four stars instead of five because it has a scent and I really don’t care for it. In my opinion, this product would be better without the scent.
Pond’s Luminous Cream Cleanser
First of all, I received the Pond’s Luminous Clean Cream Cleanser, NOT the Pond’s Luminous Clean Daily Exfoliating Cleanser.Iam not sure if I just received the wrong product in this Pond’s line or not.So, I will give my review based on the product that I did receive– The Pond’s Luminous Clean Cream Cleanser. It’s kind of ironic, because I was on Amazon’s website very recently reading about this new product line from Pond’s, debating on whether I wanted to purchase it or not, so I was very happy to see it as one of the choices for me to select through the Amazon Vine Program. With me Pond’s has always had a very good track record, as I’ve used their Pond’s Dry Skin Cream, as well as their other cream cleansers, as well as their undereye treatment for years.I find most of Pond’s products to be effective, as well as very affordable, so I also expected this new line of Pond’s Luminous Clean to provide me with the same results.I like the scent, which is not unscented, but to me the scent of this cream cleanser is kind of feminine, but not overpowering scent wise.I like the tube too, versus having this in a jar. The packaging is attractive with the pink and the white, with a small band in silver and black, which shows the product line, Luminous Clean.I squeezed a small amount of the cleanser onto my fingers, and added alittle bit of water, then applied it to my face evenly.I found this cleanser to be very easy to apply to your face, and also easy to rinse off.It did make my skin feel alittle more moisturized after rinsing it off, but not overly moisturized, not oily. It did make my face feel clean. It did not irritate my skin either.I would think that this line of Pond’s would be suitable for most if not all skin types.
When I want an exfoliating cleanser, I want something with a decent amount of grit to it, so I know it is exfoliating. I love facial scrubs, but I am picky with them. This one does not pass my test.First of all, the first thing I noticed is that it is VERY heavily scented! I don’t mind a little bit of scent, but for a facial product, this is just way too overpowering. It reminds you more of a body product, with a lot of scent. That turned me off a little because I just don’t feel like facial products should be so heavily scented – your face is more delicate and fragile, you don’t need/want all the extra “crap” that goes into a product to make it so scented.Next, the actual consistency was much too fine as far as the exfoliating particles. They are sooo teeny tiny that they themselves clog your pores because they can defiitely get in there and there wasn’t enough of them anyway. It does have a slightly creamy lather, which I didn’t mind, but the exfoliation was just not to my liking/preference.My face did feel soft after using it, so I guess that is a plus, but with as heavily scented as it is, I have to wonder if it is just more “crap” in it that made my skin feel soft and slippery and not the actual exfoliation (I truly believe this product cannot exfoliate and just leads to more breakouts due to clogged pores).I wouldn’t feel right recommending this product, especially as an exfoliator. As a just cleanser, maybe, IF you like heavily, artificially scented products for your face and just want a cleanser. I definitely would not recommend it for anyone with sensitive skin due to the strong scent.
overwhelming heavy rose scent
I would not have even tried this had I known it was scented with roses but it doesn’t say that. I don’t like the smell of roses especially when I wake up early and wash my face, it made me gag. The product itself is nothing special even minus the scent, in fact my skin actually was dryer then normal and did not feel refreshed and clean. It has tiny beads that are barely detectable so it is not an exfoliant either. It does rinse easily which is the only plus but it didn’t do my skin any favors. I love “Neutrogena fresh foaming cleanser” if you want a really great product try that. I threw this rose stuff away and I don’t recommend it.
Lovely and light! I like it.
I have dry, dry, dry skin. Seriously dry. So, cleansers need to be gentle for me. This one is! Ponds Luminous Clean Daily Exfoliating Cleanser doesn’t irritate my skin and I even use it to remove eye make-up; no troubles. The cleanser does leave my skin a bit dry, but I always use moisturizer anyway, so that hasn’t been a problem for me.I have to admit that part of the appeal of this cleanser is its loveliness! Luminous and pearly, it adds beauty to my evening routine. While the appearance of cleanser isn’t a huge selling point for me, when it’s combined with the functionality of this on, I do like some feminine gorgeousness on my vanity shelf.
The fragrance is what stops this from being a 5 star product
As someone who has sensitive skin, I am always on the look out for good, affordable hypoallergenic products, so this really caught my eye. I began using it a few days after shaking a really nasty cold. The skin on my face was dry, flaking, and chapped, so the fact that this product was touted as gentle and exfoliating sounded perfect. In most ways, I absolutely love the product. It is thick and creamy, and has a slight sheen to it. The exfoliating nature is gentle, almost like microdermabrasian, so it gets the dead cells off your skin without irritating it too much. After just a couple of uses, my skin felt softer, it was definitely exfoliated of dead skin, and felt more moisturized than after other cleansers. So why the low 3 star rating? The awful fragrance. There is a strong, overpoweringly strong, rose scent to this product. And I personally hate anything rose scented. That scent reminds me of an old lady, and the LAST image you want a skin product to mentally conjure is an old lady. This scent is extremely old fashioned, and not likely to appeal to the concept of youth that Ponds is after, or should be after, with their skin care. The fragrance also makes me wonder just how hypoallergenic this product actually is. Typically, artificial fragrances are high allergy irritants, so why would you add such an obnoxious one to a hypoallergenic product? The use of a natural, essential oil would make much more sense in my opinion.I really like the way the product performs, but the smell of it has me second guessing about whether I would use it again.
Great for Dry Skin
This is a good daily cleanser for people who want the smooth result that exfoliation creates but whose complexions tend toward dry and sensitive. In the summer, I would find this skin cleanser too creamy and lacking in grit, but as the air grows colder and dryer, the texture feels just right. I was surprised by the product’s emolience, but after several uses, grew to like it. There is also no strong chemical smell, which is appealing. This feels almolst like a homemade oatmeal scrub. A good thing.
Works well… only takes a small amount for a big job
I really like this product. A little bit goes a looooong way i found out. a pea size will clean your whole face very well and leave it soft and well hydrated. Does not dry out like regular soap, and has a fresh rose like scent.Cons: takes a little rubbing to get waterproof eye liner off, but other than that this is a awesome product and highly recommended.
Doesn’t dry my skin!
I’ve used plenty of exfoliating cleansers but most dry my skin out and give that tight feeling. This Pond’s product cleans and exfoliates but doesn’t overly dry my face, I would re-buy.
Powerful yet Gentle!!
The Pond’s luminous clean daily exfoliating cleanser is a powerful but gentle exfoliating cleanser that removes the dry dead skin on your face and allows your skin to revitalize. Pond’s luminous cleanser doesn’t leave my skin flaky or dry but more silky and smooth and this will have you falling in love with this exfoliating cleanser.I like that this exfoliant is creamy rather than dry and this is important for me because of my sensitive skin. I need products that are not as harsh on my skin and that can still do the job and the Pond’s luminous cleanser is effective in that aspect. There is a floral scent to the cleanser but once you wash your face the smell doesn’t linger, so that is a plus for me. Great product that I will incorporate into my beauty regimen to keep my skin looking more radiant and luminous.
Doesn’t live up to its own hype.
Luminous Clean Daily Exfoliating Cleanser by Pond’s is supposed to cleanse and exfoliate skin for a brighter, “more luminous” appearance. According to the Pond’s website, kaolin clay “acts like a magnet” to draw out impurities from the skin.Unfortunately, I’ve been using this product for two weeks and I have not noticed any difference in the appearance of my skin. I still have to use a separate product to exfoliate. Additionally, since beginning to use this product daily, I have started to break out around my nose and chin – so I have to wonder how well it’s actually cleaning my skin. The product has a wonderful fragrance, but that’s about the best thing I can say for it.
The Ponds daily exfoliating cleanser left my face feeling very refreshed and clean. I have dry, sensitive skin, and the product the not irritate my face, so that’s a very positive sign. The more I use this product the better my skin feels and looks.
Luminous It Is
I got this product for my wife, and she said that she absolutely loved it. “I loved the smell, not too strong with a florally sent.” She said it’s easy to use and afterwards it left her face feeling clean, smooth and moisturized. This is definitely a product she will be buying in the future.
feels gentle, but effective
Ponds cold cream is a classic, but I always associate its cleansers as being too greasy for me. However, I do like this cleanser. It has a light creamy consistency with very tiny exfoliating bits that feels gentle and not too rough on the face. The scent is also light and soothing, which I happen to love. The best thing is that it gets my Revlon Colorstay foundation off without too much fuss. I’ve had trouble getting it off with other cleansers, but Pond’s cleans it right off in one try.
Perfectly fine cleanser, little weak as an exfoliator.
I use a lot of ponds products, it’s a label I trust. So when I saw this offered on Amazon Prime, and needed a new cleanser, I thought what the hey and ordered it.It’s a perfectly fine cleanser, it doesn’t irritate my sensitive skin or eyes or leave me too dried out. But it’s also perfectly ordinary, it doesn’t smell or feel or do anything especially memorable. It’s very, very mild for an exfoliator. I always 2-3 cleansers at the same time, and I like my other 2 better. So while PondsPOND?S Cold Cream Cleanser, 9.5-oz. Jars (Pack of 3)cold cream is still on my must buy list, this is more of a pleasant, I like it, but it certainly isn’t making anything more luminous (hey, it’s their word!) … I don’t know if I will reorder.
I’m on a really dry fence here…
I’m torn here, so take this for what it is and make your own decision regarding the product. Shortly after using this product my face gets extremely tight and dry and my skin gets flakey. In fact, I have to rinse my face again and scrub off the dry skin before leaving the house. This happens EVERY TIME I use this product. That being said, after two weeks of using this, my skin does look healthier. It looks cleaner and younger. It even has a richer color to it. So, my complaint is more like a half-complaint. I don’t like dry skin, and it irritates me to have to re-wash my face as it were, but the not-so-long-term effect of this product has me satisfied. I also like the scent, which is soft and sweet. Overall, this works but it is not without its detractors.
This is a wonderful cleanser/exfoliator at such an attractive price. The formula contains soft white kaolin and it really does attract pollutants from the skin. It has a rich, thick creamy texture and works very gently without over drying.I have oily skin and this is how it’s affected my skin. I have a feeling you would not use it for very dry or chapped skin. There’s a faint, soft scent to the pearlescent cream which is not overbearing and overall I am very happy using it and find my skin feeling very clean, soft and smooth.
I have been using “Pond’s Luminous Clean Cream Cleanser” for about three weeks. It is very moisturizing. I have dry skin and find that it helps with feeling soft instead of dry and flaky. I don’t think if you have oily skin that this would feel like you got your skin clean but for those with average to dry, this feels great. It also smells good. It will last a long time as it takes just a dab to do my entire face and neck. I like the fact that it is hypoallergenic as I have very chemical sensitive skin. Great product for the price.
My Skin Feels Fantastic!
Before I got my tube of Pond’s Luminous Clean Daily Exfoliating Cleanser, I was having trouble with a break-out. It wasn’t quite to pizza-face proportions, but there was more than one erupted zit and a few more painful undergrounders. I’ve been using this cleanser after my daily workout for the last two weeks, and now the break-out is all but cleared up.This cleanser is more gentle than some other exfoliating cleansers I’ve used. The beads are very small, very gentle. Consistency-wise, this cleanser reminds me of the Mary Kay Timewise 3-in-1 Cleanser. It works great in the shower, and removes make-up efficiently. What I like best is the way my skin feels after I’ve used this cleanser. It feels refreshed, clean, and soft. It does not feel like I’ve had my face on a belt sander. This cleanser’s a keeper!
My Skin Looks and Feels Great
I like to switch cleansers regularly as I always seem to acclimate to a product after a while and my results lessen, so I was excited to be able to review this new Pond’s product. I have found that this is a really great cleanser with a texture and final result reminiscent of Clinique’s foaming facial cleaner. The main difference is that this Pond’s product contains a minor amount of exfoliating material.I use what I call a medium-grit exfoliating face wash from Clean & Clear in the shower approximately every other day because I find it refreshing and not at all abrasive with regular use. This product is even less abrasive — I am sure it could be used daily without issue. After a month of 3-4 times a week use, I find that this product has kept my skin soft and even makes me it feel a bit more moisturized (I don’t use a separate moisturizer). At 27 I still suffer from light breakouts, and this product doesn’t help or hurt those (I didn’t expect it to help, but I’m glad it didn’t cause any as some cleansers can) and gives me a nice glow in non-afflicted areas. This cleanser should suit a variety of age groups because it is very gentle on the face. I would definitely recommend giving it a whirl — I’m going to splurge on the towelettes for a trial spin as soon as my current stash of wipes runs out.
I’ve tried a lot of these exfoliating cleansers. This one from Pond’s is OK, although there are better ones out there.Pros:I really like the texture of this stuff. It’s nice and creamy and doesn’t feel sticky. The fragrance is fine and not overpowering. I generally prefer fragrance-fee products, but they are hard to find so this one is at least unobtrusive.Cons:The product isn’t coarse enough to do a decent job of exfoliating. For some people with very sensitive skin, this might be enough, particularly for the face, but it just doesn’t cut it for average skin. The little “pearls” that do the work of exfoliation are apparently made of plastic, although I can’t tell for sure which type ofplastic because the ingredients listed on the package are incomprehensible. Suffice to say that they are mostly petroleum-basedchemicals. These get into the water system and become pollutants, which is why I try to avoid products like this. The label omits any mention of animal testing, so I have to assume that they do test this product on animals, which is another reason to avoid it.Alternative:A better choice of an exfoliating cleanser is St. Ives Apricot Scrub, which uses walnut hulls to provide a pleasingly coarse texture and is not tested on animals.
Kind of just, meh
Pond’s face cleanser is decent. If you don’t have anything else and you just need to use something for a day or two, by all means use this. But daily use isn’t the best in my opinion. Compared to other brands I don’t find my face as clean as I did with them. Each person is sure to have differing opinions on face washes but Pond’s hasn’t ever left my face…refreshed. I feel as if I could keep washing my face and continue to get more stuff off it.As I said though, as a single use every so often this is a perfectly fine product. It does work better when used with exfoliating pads though. Don’t forget those. Overall, you could do better but you could definitely do worse.
Good for Sensitive Skin
This product is good for sensitive skin because it doesn’t irritate it. The Pond’s Luminous Clean goes on smoothly sort of like a soap for the face, but not as caustic–and it doesn’t aggravate the eye area. Yet while the product title indicates that this is an exfoliant, I do not regard it as such. I have used St. Ives exfoliants, bath salts, exfoliating gloves, back scrubs, facial masks, L’Oreal Paris exfoliating cleansers, and so on. All of which have earned the name exfoliant. But this product, to my mind–does not belong in that category. Do not purchase this hoping that it will remove dead skin, in reality it seems to simply buff the skin that you have.
Smooth and effective
With its promise to counteract the effects of make-up, Pond’s Luminous Clean Daily Exfoliating Cleanser is probably being marketed to women, but as a guy who has a history of skin trouble (oily skin, acne, etc), I prefer such products to plain soap which I’ve heard can clog the pores. I didn’t notice any “microbeads” – this is a smooth liquid rather than a grainy substance – but my skin sure felt good and clean after using it. Recommended.
Dried out my skin
Ponds has a new daily cleanser that is creamy, as well as ‘exfoliating’. I have been using this (daily) for the past couple weeks, and the only positive thing is that it hasn’t dried out my skin. I have not noticed clearer skin, and I don’t think it does a good job at exfoliating. It has a gentle fragrance, so if you are sensitive to scents, it’s a good one for you. I’m sorry but I don’t recommend this cleanser :(Updated: I continued using this product and it dried out my skin terribly and I had to stop using. Really not worth the price at all. Not recommended.
A Refreshing Scent
I have to be careful of what I put on my face since I do have sensitive skin. There is nothing worse than feeling a burn on your face especially after washing it with a cleanser. I normally use Oil of Olay for sensitive skin but I thought since Vine was offering Pond’s Luminous Clean Daily Exfoliating Cleanser to review, I would try it. The price is nice for this as well, not too expensive.I like the scent. It is not overpowering. Though it is an exfoliating cleanser, it is not harsh on the skin and in face, it does improve the condition of the skin after the shower. I don’t know if I am “glowing” more now, but I do know that my skin is feeling a bit softer and cleaner. Will I continue to use this product? Yes. As soon as I finish out my Oil of Olay collection, I will be exploring more of Pond’s products now that I know that it is good for sensitive skin.11/4/12
