Honest reviews

I like it!

This is a great mascara. Another reviewer claimed it never dries completely. I wouldn’t go so far as to say NEVER, but it does take longer to dry than the “normal” chemical-laden garbage we’ve been putting on our eyes for years. I would say, however, that it still feels pliable after it dries, and maybe “moist” in comparison to the stuff that gets so dry that it makes your lashes feel brittle. This mascara certainly has a different feel to it than anything else I’ve ever put on. I can still move my lashes around once it’s dry. It IS more likely to smudge, though, but a dusting of translucent powder around your eyes (or even whatever shade of eyeshadow you’re wearing, or your regular face powder) should help prevent that. It works for me.The color is rich, is separates lashes nicely, and even adds length. My only complaint is that because it separates so well, it doesn’t do much in the way of fullness, and I have sparse lashes. I compensate for this by applying a few times, and brushing through with a good lash/brow brush. I think if they changed the applicator, it would help.On top of this product performing well, it supports organic farming, (which is good for everyone)and is free of the disgusting, irritating, and harmful chemicals in other stuff on the market.I have also noticed a change in the health of my lashes since switching over to this mascara. My lashes aren’t nearly as dry as they used to be, and they don’t break off anymore, so they’ve gotten longer! Hurray!I only wish they made it in brown.

Ouch, that hurts!

I like that it doesn’t make your eyelashes feel ‘cripsy’ like every other mascara I have ever used, and it also makes my eyelashes look natural and non-clumpy. That fact that it does not dry (completely?) makes your eyelashes far more flexible and natural feeling. This mascara washes off easily with plain water. In fact, it washes off so well that I cannot go out in the rain, cry one tear, or even be in high humidity without it liquifing and going right into my eyes. And then it burns like a SOB far more than anything I have ever felt. It feels like I have a serious scratch in both eyes and I end up rushing to the nearest sink to flush my eyes out. Unfortunately, this is going in the trash and I must search for a new mascara. Do not buy this if you have watery eyes or live in a humid climate. I’m not sure what could possibly be in this mascara to make my eyes hurt so bad since it is organic, but it does. Day-um.

I wanted to love it but it gave me raccoon eyes

After my son was diagnosed with various chemical sensitivities and I’ve learned more about toxins I’ve been cleaning up my environment including beauty products.I really wanted to like this mascara since it’s easy to find and affordable but it has given me raccoon eyes everytime I’ve used it, I threw it away this morning 🙁

Not For People with Make-Up/Chemical Sensitivities

I bought this mascara after reading the ingredients and not finding any particularly offensive ones (although some, I am admittedly unfamiliar with). I was impressed by the fact that it is made in this country and contains no parabens, though I was and am still skeptical of its organic claims. As for the practical use, the mascara has an unusually thick consistency, and either this consistency or the brush itself make application a bit difficult if you want more natural, less clumpy lashes. A lash brush helped. This slightly annoying detail would have been totally workable to me, but what was not was the intense burning in my eyes once the mascara began to run a little. Even after flushing my eyes and removing every visible trace of the mascara, the burning continues an hour or more after removal.I’ve worn this mascara maybe three times. This last time I developed a stye the day after I wore it that I believe is related to the irritation from this product. I’ll be throwing it away and searching for something new. The packaging and claims lend themselves to a convincing argument for a safe product. The burning in my eyes and the stye I developed speak otherwise. If you are prone to sensitivities with make-up, I wouldn’t waste your money on this product. It does not seem to be truly hypoallergenic.

My first and favorite organic mascara

This was the first organic mascara I ever tried. I’ve used others but for the cost and performance I always go back to this one. I can often find these at CVS (but not Walgreens) and have occasionally ordered from Amazon when I’m running low. This isn’t a volumizing or thickening mascara. But it doesn’t clump or flake off during the day either.

Thick and Paste-Like

I was excited to try this, based on the reviews. I have sensitive eyes, and I wanted to get away from paraben-laden cosmetics. The first thing I noticed was the formula is very thick, and has a very matte finish. Quite different than any other mascara I’ve ever used. And it went on like paste! Thick, and clumpy is the only way to describe it. Even separating with an eyelash comb didn’t help. I thought I must have gotten an old tube, so I tossed it and bought another tube from a different location.Still the same. This mascara gives me some intense lashes that mimic false lashes. Very thick, very long, very dramatic, very clumpy. Nothing remotely “natural.” It’s a bit comical to wear during the day, so I only use it at night. Two other points to consider:This formula never really dries completely. The surface does, but if you were to squeeze your lashes together hours later, they would stay that way (think “paste” again). It liquifies IMMEDIATELY on contact with water. Scarily fast. That’s great news for removal, not so great news if you cry or get caught in the rain. If I’m going out, I check the weather forecast first!Overall, I like this mascara for an intense look, but can’t use it daily for a more natural look. Also, this is a supermarket/drugstore product that is found all over. Look for it there for around $5 instead of paying double that on Amazon.

Smudged, irritating

Terrible! Firstly it aggravated my dry issue, and cased itching. Second, smudged and did not wash off easily. Hated the wand. I will stick with my QVC natural brands.

The only mascara I actually like.

I originally bought this because the idea of a natural mascara appealed to me. Soon I found out how great this product actually was. It doesn’t take very much to get fuller lashes and it has a thick, waxy formula. The brush has thick bristles which I find to work nicely to prevent clumping. I highly recommend this. I lasts all day for me. The only downside to it that I can think of is it does tend to flake near the end of the day.

Too dry

Too dry for my taste. Plus the applicator is too big – wind up getting mascara all over the place.

Not for me

I have very thin, light and short lashes and it is very hard for me to find a mascara that can lengthen and thicken my lashes at the same time without getting them all stuck together and all lumpy. This mascara goes on easily and it doesn’t clump up. It doesn’t smell and doesn’t make me sneeze like other mascaras do. I was very happy to find a mascara without all of those harmful chemicals and products but this is not doing the trick for me. It colored my lashes and separated them but it didn’t add any volume or length to them, not even after 3 applications. I had to re-apply my old (Covergirl Lash Blast Fusion Mascara) to get the results I wanted.

Best drugstore mascara

I picked this up on sale at my local grocery store, otherwise I wouldn’t want to spend +$10 on mascara that I wasn’t sure of.This is all-around great mascara. The only reason it doesn’t get 5 stars is that sometimes I end up with faint smudges on my brow bone when my lashes rub. This doesn’t happen all the time, I believe it to be due to the oil content of my foundation. I don’t think it happens when I only wear powder. The brush is very nice; it separates lashes well and doesn’t pick up too much product from the tube. There is no weird smell. This stays on very well for an all-natural product. I was afraid that the leaf-shaped handle would make this awkward to apply, but it doesn’t affect anything. Now that I’ve had a chance to test drive it, I would buy it again at full retail price.

My favorite mascara!

I have tried many different kinds of mascara and this is my favorite. It does not clump and it stays on all day. I have never had any issues with it – no eye problems, no running, no allergies, etc. It’s perfect for me.

Pretty good

This mascara seems to get a lot of mixed reviews. I bought it in hopes of finding something cruelty free that isn’t a waste of money. So far, this is the best I’ve found. I like the richness of the color, (I bought this in black) and I was very surprised to find that I liked the brush. It’s actually pretty soft and pliable, for having plastic bristles. The product goes on nicely, and is very buildable, (I like to wear two coats) without looking clumpy or cakey. I feel as though it offers more for volume, vs. length. I will definitely be trying other items from this brand in the future.
