pantene heat shield

gave this to the wife to try. she sprayed it on and the blow dried her hair. she said it did good. the styling still stayed and her hair did not dry out with just straight blow drying. the wife likes pantene products and says that all of there products are a 4-5 star rating. this is for the person who informed me that it was more of a gell. since my wife is a a PROFESSIONAL HAIR DRESSER. she puts all items she puts on hair in a spray bottle. the reason for this is to get better coverage. i do not know if she mixes it with something else or what the heck. she just does it that way. so when i say she sprays it on, that is what she does.

love this product

So I got this product. I’ve tried other heat protecting products before and never thought they did jack. This one. Good! Cavewoman say GOOD very GOOD. Try it. Cavewoman with frizzy hair say “its soft now!”My hair drys so much nicer via hairdryer. Even when I’m lazy and let it air dry a bit.NO FRIZZ! In Florida…..WIN! It’s not greasy….it doesn’t make my hair look oily. It just makes it look defrizzified.

Nice and smooth hair

Really like this serum. Makes my highlighted blonde (bleached) hair nice and smooth. I use 3 pumps on my long hair right out of the shower. No greasy looking hair either. Very similar to more expensive products. This ones a keeper!

Wish it was a Spray

I don’t know what I was expecting, but for me it wasn’t a miracle product. I am going fool around with it some more, but at the moment I can’t tell what it’s doing for me.The principle problem is that I don’t find putting the product on my hands and then rubbing it on my hair to be very satisfactory. I have some argon oil, hair shine products where I thought this process worked well; but for a product that is supposed to protect my hair from heat, I would think a spray would work better –giving a more even distribution.Perhaps more experimentation and reading the other reviews will clue me in to how to better use this product, but right now, I wouldn’t recommend it.

nice feel, but not moisturizing

The Pantene Pro-V Heat Shield Heat Potion Serum feels very light and non-greasy to the touch. It glides on and absorbs into the hair very well. Considering its feel, I was quite disappointed that it dried out my hair. At the end of the day my hair felt very brittle. In comparison to other serums, this product did not work well at all.

Sillicone Smooth

This is another successful product from Pantene. Designed to condition and protect hair from heat, the clear pleasant smelling liquid is dispensed into the hands then applied to wet hair. It left my hair feeling and looking sooth, soft and shiny. I have also used a dab on dry hair to combat the frizzies with good results. I have fine color treated hair and generally less is more. Too much leaves my hair flat and oily looking. Regular use mandates an occasional clarifying shampoo because it does tend to build up. The only thing I didn’t like was the coated feel of my hands. Granted that is remedied with a thorough washing and certainly is not a deal breaker. This product is most effective for those with thick, coarse or curly hair but it works well if used sparingly on finer locks. Recommended.

Five Plus, Five Plus!! Cry no more, frizzy-headed people!

I will not lie. I was cursed with HORRIBLE HAIR. It’s naturally curly – like WAY naturally curly – but I don’t like wearing it that way because it’s too short, so I look like a poodle. So, I blow dry and use a heat implement every day. I know, bad for your hair. Whatever. Because I beat my hair into submission every day, it shows. It gets HUGE and FRIZZY. And when it rains? FORGET IT.I have an arsenal of products claiming there’s no way your hair will even THINK about frizzing if you use this… Erm. WRONG. They leave me with frizzy hair that just looks greasy, which is a BEAUTIFUL LOOK, right? But, you guys… I used this Pantene Pro-V stuff and MY HAIR IS ALMOST SLEEK!! I ran the curling iron through it, as always, but before that I could feel the texture was different. Here’s what I recommend to my frizzy-haired friends: use the FULL FOUR PUMPS. Run your hands through your hair and totally coat it. Use a big-toothed comb and really let it get everywhere. Then wait a few minutes, to let it sink it. I made the bed in the meantime, because my room was a mess. But anyway, after that style it how you usually would. I blew it dry, then used my curling iron to style. Didn’t use a bit of hairspray, since that dries it out (you NEED a good cut when you have CRAPPY HAIR).And voila! If not 100% sleek, 90 % or so (actual experience will vary).I WILL NEVER BE WITHOUT THIS PRODUCT AGAIN.It changed my life!Okay, I’m not THAT much of a loser. But it did make my day happier. So, if you’re like me, and God hates you, please consider trying this out. I KNOW how frizzy hair feels… 🙁 I can’t vouch for how it behaves in extra-high humidity – and maybe you’ll have to use either a bit more of this or something else, in that case, but I haven’t tested it yet – but I can vouch for the AMAZING texture I have after it’s styled.Enjoy!

does make a difference

I was wary of this at first because I’ve tried similar heat treatment products in the past but found them too heavy for my hair. My hair is fine and always looked and felt greasy/dirty after using these kinds of products.I was very pleasantly surprised that it was not the case this time. I use a couple of drops (they come out very sparingly) after towel drying and before turning on my hairdryer. I actually use both a hair dryer and a curling iron (my hair is between chin and shoulder length). The result is that my hair does look smoother and feels softer, with less flyaway. (I sometimes forget to use it and can always notice the difference.) It’s a serum so it does leave a greasy feeling on your hands, but it’s not too bad and somehow goes away. The smell is also pleasant and not overly strong. It’s not a miracle product but I am not expecting any product to transform my hair into what I see on shampoo commercials. I’m pleased that it does make a difference when I use it. Whether or not it actually restores health to my hair over time I cannot yet say.

This is exactly what I wanted. My hair comes out soft and smooth with daily blow drying . . . not greasy like with other products I have tried. My daughters and I all love it and will continue to use it. Recommended!

Just another silicone based hair serum

I have been using silicone based hair serums for many years. I love them. I have tried many different brands over the years. They all seem to do basically the same thing. They are great for frizzy hair. They help hold in the style when I flat-iron my hair. The main differences I have noticed with the different brands over the years are the consistency, the scent and the price. I find this one to be a touch on the thin side. The scent is subtle and nice. The price is a bit on the high side for what it is.Overall, it does the job, but nothing about it makes it stand out from the pack.

Comparable to the serums I’ve bought at salons

I will admit that between my blow dryer, flat iron, and curling iron my naturally dry hair gets put through a lot. I typically rely on hair products meant for heat styling to keep my hair looking soft, shiny and healthy, even with my frequent abuse. Hair serums have been typically part of my routine. In the past I’ve usedPaul Mitchell Super Skinny Serum Unisex, 8.5 OunceandIt’s a 10 Miracle Style Serum – 4 Oz. I was skeptical about how this product would compare because I don’t tend to like how Pantene products work with my hair. But this serum blew me away! I virtually can’t tell the difference between this serum and the previous two I’ve used, which is amazing since this one is much more affordable. For me that is saying a lot because I’ve had a hard time finding affordable drug store hair products that work as well as the ones I find at the salon. Like the other serums, this minimizes damage to my hair and leaves my hair looking and feeling shiny and healthy. I also only need 3-4 drops, even with very thick hair that a few inches below my shoulders so this bottle lasts me quite awhile. Generally I am quite doubtful that drugstore products can give salon quality but at least for this product, I’m a believer.

Good hair protector

I have just enough awkward wave in my hair that I need to blow dry and/or straighten it every day. Those heating elements damage hair fast, so this is a great product for me to us. It smells good and makes my hair feel smoother after applying it. You are supposed to put a few squirts in your hand, rub it around and then apply it to your wet hair – this process leaves my hands feeling greasy and I have to wash them well to get rid of it. But for the price, I think it is worth a try if you are looking for a heat shield product.

Pantene Pro-V Heat Shield Heat Potion Serum 50 Ml, 1.7-Ounce

I love this stuff!!! I have naturally curly hair and this is all the styling product I need. I wash my hair and then use about a dime-size amount of this product. A little blow dry action to help the curl and I am done! I will definitely be purchasing more of this in the future. It’s great for frizz control and dry hair.

No Better and No Worse

This new product is no better nor worse than any of the others I have tried. It seems that the only exception to that is the fact that though the oil has a strong and fairly strange smell right out of the bottle, the aroma disappears after you’ve blown your hair dry. This is made for wet or towel dried hair and then style as usual – however, you may also use this on dry hair to add a bit more gloss and manageability. Doing so made my hair feel a little drier than normal though. It leaves my hands feeling like they are coated with Teflon. Slick but not in a greasy way.

Bernadine Core, WV

Softens Course Hair

I have short naturally curly “course” hair so any product that promises “soft and shiny” has my attention. I pumped 2-3 drops into the palms of my hands, rubbed together, and then ran my hands through my hair, styling as usual. At times, I thought the product softened my hair too much. I don’t know how well this product will hold up in the humidity, but for a dry day it was great!I am editing this review after several weeks: this product is great! My hair has never felt so soft and styled so easily.

Elaine Prague, NE

Nourishing and non-greasy

My hair is over processed and dry. I regularly cover the gray and use a keratin-infused professional treatment three times per year which restores some of the lost shine and manageability to my mane. However, I still use a flat iron when needed and I blow dry three times a week with a high powered dryer. This Pantene Heat Protector is effective up to 450 degrees and allows my hair to look healthy and shiny without the usual heavy look of more traditional leave-in oils. It’s a frizz tamer in that it does a good job of keeping my style smooth in more humid weather, and it is both light upon application and non-greasy once dried. I appreciate the more affordable price here also since using some of the higher-end name brand products adds up to a lot more cash than I’d like to spend on my hair. I will continue using this bottle and see how long it lasts. I shampoo three times a week and so far have not gone through much of it since you don’t need more than a nickel sized drop for shoulder length hair. Comes in a 1.7 oz. plastic pump bottle. Smells nice too!

Tame the Mane!

Blow drying, curling & straightening can all damage your hair, making it fuzzy and hard to control. A few drops ofPantene Pro-V Heat Shield Heat Potion Serummight just be the answer. My hair is baby fine and so long I can sit on it, but impossible to control and sometimes prone to frizz, particularly at this time of the year. I’ve been using a few drops of this after shampooing while my hair is still wet with good results. My hair has been shinier and far more willing to stay put in its braid than it usually is.Grandma’s $0.02 – Pantene is a reliable brand. With a very reasonable price point,Pantene Pro-V Heat Shield Heat Potion Serumis worth trying if you need to tame your unruly mane! To avoid the “oilies” remember that less is more.

Not for fine hair

I have used several heat protective serums over the years. I have very long hair and protection is key. I live in a very dry environment and my hair easily get dry and frizzy. The Pantene Pro-V Heat shield serum did not work well for me. My hair is thick but fine. By the time I applies enough serum to manage the frizz my hair was a little sticky. This made it tangle more easily. I tried using a lot less but then I got no results at all. Additionally, after I flat ironed my hair it was really staticky. It does smell good. and it spreads nicely. It just may not be great for fine hair.

Mildred Monett, MO

Made my hair feel new again!

I love any kind of leave-in for my hair. I frequently use heat styling, so my hair can take considerable abuse. This Pantene product made my hair come out smooth, tangle-free and very shiny after drying. I used three drops on wet hair, and there was no oily feel when I was finished. I’m quite satisfied with this Pantene Heat Potion Serum. I think it will be especially good to use right after color application!

no better than other similar products

I dye my hair on a regular basis and although the ends are dry, my roots are still very oily. I usually have to wash my hair every other day or be a big ball of grease with my hair slicked back on the third day. I was hesitant to try this heat serum, because most products of this type don’t do much for controlling frizz, but make my hair greasy right after blow-drying. After using 3 pumps this morning on damp towel dried hair, as directed, I proceeded to blow dry. My roots are nice and smooth and my hair is very shiny. My ends (which I applied the serum to first) are a little frizzy, but smoother than if I didn’t use anything at all. My hair overall feels very soft and doesn’t need to be straightened (which I usually have to do after blow-drying).I would warn against using a lot of this product. I could’ve probably used 2 pumps instead of 3 and be careful to disperse it evenly throughout your hair. My temples (where I started after I coated my ends) feel like they have a little build-up on them and will probably be gross by tomorrow, but the rest of my hair will be beautiful and shiny. I would not recommend using this product on dry hair. Even the bottle suggests using it sparingly.Overall, this product doesn’t perform any more spectacularly than any other product out there. I usually use Redkin Heat Protection Serum and it seems to do an equal job and I have to worry less about overuse. So, it probably comes down to price and preference. If you have something you already use that works, this isn’t worth switching. But if you’re looking to try something more cost-effective, this would be worth trying.

Silky hair!

I need to wash my hair daily due to the oily build-up. My hair takes a lot of abuse from my daily use of the hair dryer, hot rollers, and flat iron. I am absolutely in love with this product. After washing my hair and towel drying, I apply three drops to my hands and then rub it through my hair. Once my hair is blown dry, I can style it or leave it straight. My hair is silky smooth and manageable. The shine is out of this world! The next day, my hair isn’t oily! Hooray! I will definitely add this product to my hair care regimen.

Serum works well, but the dispenser is clumsy

I have very long hair – it is currently halfway down my back – and it is slightly oily. My hair doesn’t style very well if I don’t wash and blow dry it every morning. Of course, even given its oily nature, I worry about heat damage. I condition every day, but I also use a product to protect against heat damage. For years, my favorite product for this protection has beenCitre Shine Miracle Anti-frizz Serum, 4-Ounce (Pack of 2). I like the consistency, I like the dispenser on the bottle, and I like how it works in my hair. I recently replaced the Citre Shine Serum with Pantene Pro-V Heat Shield Heat Potion Serum to see how it worked. The first thing I noticed about the Pantene Serum is that I really don’t like the dispenser. Where the Citre Shine comes in a bottle you simply tilt and squeeze until you get the amount you need, Pantene’s bottle has a pump. My hair needs 4-5 pumps and I have to say that I found it clumsy to operate the pump one-handed while dispensing into the palm of my other hand. This alone is enough of a reason for me to not buy this product in the future. I’m not a morning person, so to add even a minor irritant or delay such as this to my morning routine is not good.Once dispensed, I do like the serum itself. It is light, so it doesn’t weigh down my hair style, and it helps tame frizzies, even on rainy days. As far as heat damage goes, so far so good. The Pantene Serum works no better and no worse than my old favorite, Citre Shine. Since I prefer the dispenser on the Citre Shine product, I will continue to use that. Should Pantene change the dispenser on their serum, I may give it another try.

Great, even for fine hair!

I have very fine hair that gets greasy easily, it’s hard to find a product that doesn’t weigh my hair down or make it look greasy. This product works great on my hair, it makes it shiny and easy to manage, seems less frizzy too. I think it will take awhile to see how it does on heat protection since that damage can take a while to show up on my hair, but for the shiny, soft feel I’d still use it.

Myra Maumee, OH

Not for me.

I am always trying new hair products, but I was disappointed in Pantene’s Pro-V Serum. I was careful to use just a tiny amount, but it made my hair flat and with no body. It also felt greasy, which I hate. I don’t use a lot of any hair product and I was cautious with this one. I had to wash my hair again that night.I’ve used other hair products with a flat iron that worked great, but this one failed. It may work on someone with hair that is more coarse than mine.

Excellent product and affordable

I really thought the spray worked well and was impressed with the price when compared to other sprays. A strong, solid thumbs up!

I really like using a heat protecting serum/spray when I blow dry my hair. I have thin slightly wavy hair that has a lot of split ends. Using a product such as this makes it look a lot more shiny and nice, and I believe it keeps new breakage from occurring. This product works fine for making my hair look shiny and feel good. I would prefer a little more help with the short flyaway hair, but that’s no big deal. A dab of another product will do.I am not keen on the smell. It’s perfectly nice and some love it. It is flowery and fairly subtle; smells like a soft jasmine. In the scent department, I’ll compare it to two other products that I think do about the same job:Got2b Guardian Angel Blow Out Lotion with Gloss Finish, 6.8-Ounce (Pack of 2)has a highly sweet “hair product” scent that some adore. I find it nausea-inducing! I really love the subtle clean and somewhat powdery smell ofStraight Sexy Hair Smooth & Seal Spray by Sexy Hair for Unisex – 8.1 Ounce Hairspray. That is (so far) my favorite product for blow drying my hair. The Pantene is good, but I’m not jumping up and down about it, mostly because of the scent, which is a highly personal hit-or-miss thing. On the other hand, this product does not leave the hair greasy looking, which some of these products can do. None of the ones I’ve mentioned in this review do that. I have found that using this by spraying it on a comb and then combing it through the hair is more effective than spraying it directly on the hair, and also one doesn’t get it in or on one’s face that way. This product is at a good price point to give it a try.

Inexpensive Silicone Smoother/Protector & It Works

There is really no need to spend a lot of money on silicone smoothers when you get the same results with an inexpensive brand like this one. If you want to increase the conditioning, put a dab of argan oil in your palm along with this “heat-shield”, rub your hands together to distribute & then gently smooth through your wet hair.I personally don’t like to use a lot of hair products with silicone because I find they build up & dry out my hair if used too frequently. If you do like the effect of silicone products on your hair, it is a good idea to use a shampoo with “sulfate” ingredients such as “sodium lauryl sulfate” to remove the buildup. Dimethicone is an especially non-soluble (won’t wash out with water) silicone & may even take more than one wash to remove. Sulfate shampoos can be more harsh on hair so if you are prone to damaged/dry hair, you may want to avoid those shampoos or use them occasionally to remove buildup. This has a short ingredient list: Cyclopentasiloxane, Dimethicone, Fragrance/Parfum, Panthenol, Ceteareth-20, Alcohol Denat. The fragrance is not heavy & has that typical Pantene smell; to me the perfume is not good or bad & it doesn’t linger.-Cyclopentasioxane: This is silicone in liquid form. Evaporates so doesn’t weigh down hair or leave a “greasy” feel.-Dimethicone: A silicone-based polymer that provides smoothness.-Panthenol: Derivative of vitamin B5 (pantothenic acid) and is known as a provitamin. It is very humectant so provides moisture retention.-Ceteareth-20: Fatty alcohol that is used as an emulsifier (keeps ingredients mixed together). This works almost as well as the “Paul Frieda Frizz-Ease Sheer Solution” but not quite as good. The Pantene is a few dollars cheaper so if it works better for you – you can save some money.

Pantene Pro-V Heat Shield Heat Potion Serum 50 Ml, 1.7-OunceCategory: Hair CareMy hair fine is waist length and super thick — I use a hair dryer (on high heat setting) and a couple of different curling irons, also on high heat, daily. Always looking for new products that will protect My valuable asset from heat damage.450 Heat Degree F ProtectionProtect: Helps shield from heat damage.Repair: Instantly transforms heat damages hair into soft, silky manageable hair.Finish: Leaves hair smooth, sleek, and shiny. With weightless heat activated oils for guilt-free stylingOkay, I’ll try it!
• into My Shopping Cart it goes
• Notes after using Pantene Pro-V Heat Shield Heat Potion Serum, a couple of times:After the usual shampooing and conditioning, toweled dried and then combed through damp hair with wide toothed comb (cuz that’s the way I roll 🙂 ). Directions on Pantene Pro-V Heat Shield Heat Potion Serum – pump bottle – are pretty straight forward, just dispense 2-4 squirts of product into palm, rub hands together, massage through damp hair. No tacky or greasy feeling, or funky residue left on My hair. A light, hair-product-like scent that quickly disappeared. Easy!
• gets out blow dryer and blow dries hair, using round brush, as usual
• Hair dried fast. Absolutely, No weighted down look. Hair is super soft, light weight, but not shiny — at this point. Also, it appears that the usual brassiness, of my blonde hair, has been toned down, quite a bit. Using the curling irons really brought out the shine. If You use heat rollers (which I don’t) the shine will probably be there, as well.Hair is extraordinarily Beautiful.
• does a little happy dance
• btw, the pump action container dispenses a very small amount, at a time, so the 1.7-Ounce container of product should last quite a while. I used, a mere, 3 squirts of product, and that was enough for my long hair. The container is also small enough for travel.Does the Pantene Pro-V Heat Shield Heat Potion Serum sound like what you may be looking for? 🙂 Off to buy a few more bottles, as I don’t want to ever run out! Great Product for Smooth Hair

My hair is not curly or frizzy but it isn’t straight either. It’s in that in between state where I need to use some type of styling product or I get hair that’s flat, semi-wavy in places and straggly on ends. I do keep it trimmed regularly. I usually use a straight iron or put it in a ponytail.Anyway, I really like how this product makes my hair both look and feel silky, soft, and smooth. And it does not leave an oily or greasy feeling at all — even if you don’t wash your hair the next day. I actually was running late one day and didn’t have time to wash my hair. It was a bit messy from sleeping on it. I put some of this Pantene serum on my hair, styled it, and left. Even at the end of that second day, my hair was not greasy or oily and still looked good. So from my experience, it can even be used on dry hair. Again, I don’t have very curly hair so I can’t speak for how it works on dry, curly hair.Sometimes I like to use the straightener on my hair, even with styling products. I love the way my hair came out after I applied this product to my hair, let it dry, and used the straightener. So for me, it works on wet or dry hair; it works on hair that hasn’t been washed for a day; and it works great with or without a straighter. I like the way it makes my hair look in a ponytail too. Also, I like the soft, subtle scent it has. But don’t worry if you don’t like strong scents. It’s subtle and wears off pretty quickly,Overall, I would recommend this product to anyone that wants a style product that result in soft, silky, smooth hair that doesn’t become oily or greasy.

Gwendolyn Citra, FL

Good smoother

I’ve damaged my hair so badly over the past 20 years – constant color, blow-drying, using a straightener and/or a curling iron… and now I am getting grey which has a nasty texture all its own. So anything that can help smooth down all the damaged frizz is a hit in my book. Many anti-frizz products work by weighing the hair down with a heavy grease or oil. This doesn’t feel like that at all. And while it doesn’t get rid of ALL of my frizz (I think that’s impossible actually) it does work quite well.
