Honest reviews

I am an african-american ‘natural’ that presses her hair out. I have tried every product in the book from palmades to wax sticks, to the gel and scarf method to hold my roots down. I have tired myself from walking around with childish roots and silky fine hair, once I put this on it saved my edges COMPLETELY! Highly recommended! great product. it is not greasy, smells wonderful, and it dries pretty instantly and does not flake and makes hair look naturally nice or relaxed looking. Thank you ORS!

Edge Control

This product absolutely sucks! It turned my hair white and it made my hair feel sticky. Ugh. I tried this product out in hopes of it doing what it said on the container “Edge Control”, but i guess I was wrong not good for anybody’s hair. And for those who say they like this product are lying or the reviews are fake. Product is horrible.

Perfect – but not for everyone

I love love love this product! It is really great at smoothing my hair and edges. It is perfect for me but I don’t think it is for everyone. I also use a product called Hick’s EdgesHicks Edges Pomade 4oz. I actually like both of these products but here is my recommendation if you use the Olive Oil. If you are wearing your hair curly, I recommend using Olive Oil Edge Control Gel. It is medium-weight, not too heavy, its definitely not greasy. I think the moisture in it will cause straight hair to ripple or wave-up. But if your hair is being worn curly its perfect! You get smooth edges, no residue, and you can even use it to smooth back any pony puffs or other hair-do’s that require slicking back hair. It leaves a nice, non-greasy shine. Love it! I use Hick’s for when I wear my hair straight. For the record, it will last all night if you are going out.My Hair Background: I have natural (African-American) hair, 3b,4a, is what I have been told. I wear it curly a lot and straighten it every 3-4 weeks (less in the summer).

I have used very many gels on my hair to keep my edges smooth but none have worked as well as this product. I have used JAM, Queen Helene, and countless others with the most recent being Design Essentials Sleek Edge Control. The Design Essentials is very expensive and would lay my edges down somewhat but I found that it was sticky and left a lot of build up. I am currently transitioning from relaxed to natural and my hair is very curly, so laying the edges down is almost impossible. This product is SUPERIOR in comparison to ALL of the other gels that I have used. It lays my unruly edges down all day and makes the edges look relaxed. In my personal experience, I have not had any build up or flakiness. The consistency of this product is almost IDENTICAL to the Design Essentials but much much cheaper and works far better. To the other reviewer who said that this product is not organic, they are correct. However, this product does not make any claims to being organic, it’s only the name of the company.

The Best Product To Tame Unruly, Natural Edges

I love this product for the simple fact that it does what it claims–i.e., it provides hold to unruly edges.I have natural hair–4b to be specific–and I find it better to dip a medium bristle toothbrush into Edge Control and brush it into the product in order to smear a small amount on the bristles. Then dip the brush into a container of olive oil or coconut. After, brush down your hairline, and wrap your hair with a satin wrap so the product can set in your hairline. After 15 minutes, unwrap your hair and your hairline will be set. The oil conditions your hair, and prevents it from having a sticky feel.I’ve used this product for plaits, high buns, and any hairstyle that requires a super sleek look. It’s definitely a necessity in my hair care.

The BEST for slicking ponytails back

My curly/frizzy edges always pop up, except for when I use this product. The hold lasts all day. I have very thick, defiant hair but this does the job.Re: edges breaking off–I have not had this problem. I don’t use it everyday though, just occasionally. I wonder if people who were having that problem were using it daily? Technically, doing tight up-dos with any kind of product (or no product) is not recommended because it puts strain on the hair. I find that this product works so well, I can put it on one morning, then wrap my hair in a silk scarf for the next couple nights and it’s fine each day without using more product.Re: white residue– I have not had trouble with this either. I do get residue with other products but not this. I apply all around my edges and then brush it back through my hair as I pull it into a ponytail. As long as it is worked I well and spread out evenly, I have no trouble with residue.I highly recommend this product and the ORS line in general.

This product left white residue on my hair and I also started to notice my edges breaking off. This product is a waste of money!!!

Formed scabs on my scalp

At first my edges grew very long and then a couple of weeks later I noticed bumps that turned into scabs. Once the scabs fell off, a few strands of hair fell out too. Now, I have transitioned to natural/ organic and it is better.

Smells good, does the job

All of this brands products smell amazing and fresh, no complaint there. If your hair is fully dry when you put this on it will work, I have type 4a hair and had to use quite a bit of this product in order for it to work properly, I don’t necessarily like putting that much hold gel in my hair, but it does do the job, did not leave a residue in my hair as some reviews stated. I think it’s definitely worth a try, I would buy again.

It leaves you’re edges white and nasty looking, and it doesn’t even leave your edges laid. -____- Waste of money!

Great edge control

glad i found this product. I always had to use gel to tame my edges but with ORganic Root Stimulator no need to used hard gel, and my edges stay soft and nice.

Best thing Ive used so far

Held down my edges really well.No need to overdo so a little goes a long way.You might have to use it every day but this product is nice and one bottle will last you a long time.Worth the money.

Not good for my hair

I agree with other reviewers, this is a harsh gel and it breaks your edges. In the jar it becomes very stiff easily and you kinda have to warm it up with your fingers.Once on, it gives incredible shine that is amazing, but it is a very THICK waxy film feeling I don’t like. This is very hard on the hair, and I just wouldn’t recommend it.

Tonya Priest River, ID

miracle worker

this has allowed me to grow in my edges by not having to go in with the flat iron to straighten. I use this to help them lay flat, a little goes a long way and I don’t like the slicked down gelled look. This is like a wax/gel. It’s hard to describe, but it’s super awesome. I use this and the osr pudding, they are great.

Too heavy and turned white

I loved the smell of this product, but it was very stiff and heavy. It also turned white, after a while. I will not be purchasing it again.
