Save your money! Save your skin!
This is the absolute worst sunscreen I have ever used! I slathered it on liberally before a hike and still got FRIED. It was as if I had applied baby oil — I had to stay indoors and out of the sun for three days, the sunburn was that bad. It’s a pity because I usually like Neutrogena’s products, but this experience and their obviously poor QA has turned me off completely.
Bad breakouts every time I use it.
I am in my late 20’s with hormonal acne prone skin. I am very careful about what products I put on my face. I cannot use Neutrogena Ultimate Sport Face. It will give me cystic acne breakouts every time I use it. I now use Elta MD products. Their Sport product only has 50 spf but I make sure to wear a hat when I am out and reapply frequently. I get far fewer breakouts using Elta MD: EltaMD UV Sport SPF 50Thanks for taking the time to read my review, and I hope you found it helpful in making a purchase decision.
A good sunblock for those with bad skin
I ended up purchasing this for my niece out of fear that regular sunblock would clog her pores and I’m rather pleased with this. (I got this on the last day of her visit with us even though the previous sunblock showed no signs of messing with her skin.) This didn’t have much of a scent that I could detect, which will probably be a selling point for some. I like a little scent with my sunscreen, but whatever scent this had ended up fading away rather quickly. The spray bottle makes it easy to apply, which was nice. I fell in love with spray bottles after using another sunblock product, so that this came in spray bottle form was a big factor for me.As far as sunblock goes, it did its job for the most part. I was out in direct sun in very hot and humid weather, so I ended up applying it more than I might have otherwise done. I ended up with no sunburn, nor did any of my other family members. All of us applied this to our faces, with none of us having any new acne appear. (So if you’re wondering if you could use this on your face in a pinch, you can.)
Best For Face!
I have breakouts everyday. My skin is also super sensitive. I live up at my cottage the whole Summer- and the worst thing about suncreen is it getting into your eyes after swimming. I have used this sunblock for 2 years now and it is the ONLY sunscreen that won’t sting your eyes, and cause them to burn. When they say it “won’t clog pores”, they really mean it. I am very scared about getting sun cancer, and this is the only sunscreen I feel confident in wearing. It’s not greasy.. and I only apply twice a day. Never got one burn yet!
Not for sensitive skin
Please do not use this sunblock if your skin is even remotely sensitive. I purchased this because Neutrogena products typically work well on my somewhat sensitive skin. I put this on and within one hour had a horrible rash all over my face, neck, and chest. I have never experienced anything so awful. I stopped using it and (2 days later) the rash is still pretty bad.
We live in Los Angeles so we’re often outdoors. This sunscreen has never failed us! We use it daily! It works great…even for my ultra-sensitive skin.
I live in the Caribbean and this sunscreen actually protects the skin from the sun rays which damages my skin,it glides on smooth and does not leave any residue but i also got few pimples from using it .
I am very fair skinned. Red hair, green eyes the works. I burn, freckle and peal. I am also 53 years old and drive a shuttle bus on a major college campus for 10 hours a day. I put it on in the morning and I do not get burned at all. I also works great when we go out on our bike, no burn. That is wonderful
Effective and lasting
This sunscreen is awesome. It really does leave your skin less irritated from the oil, and it’s easy to apply and long lasting. It’s a pretty thick cream, but it spreads in easily and doesn’t have that grimy feeling I get on my face with other sunscreen products. The high SPF is wonderful for someone like me who burns super easily. I used it recently on a 5 day trip down to Cabo, and though I was very vigilant about regularly reapplying, I didn’t burn on my face/neck at all except my hairline where I didn’t think to apply.Though this product is a bit pricey for the amount you get, the oil free aspect and the fact it didn’t break out my skin at all even with several days of constant use outweighs that for me.
Feels pretty lightweight on the skin considering it’s SPF 70
Doesn’t feel greasy or heavy and I like that it’s water resistant. Pretty easy to apply (disappears relatively quickly). And it’s water resistant, which is great for the summer.
No Good for Sports
I jog every day and I always wear sunblock. I bought this because of the “Ultra Waterproof” description on the front of the packaging. It is NOT waterproof at all once I start sweating. It runs down my forehead right into my eyes and burns.I love Neutrogena products in general so I am very disappointed in this product.
Best there is
I am very dark complected, use this every day in the summer, Las Vegas, very high heat…..I just don’t burn when I load up with this spray. I feel this is the best product on the market for protecting your skin during high heat months in the sun. I’ve tried several other products, this is the best, in my opinion. Kent Oram
Low residue sunscreen
I was so tired of sunscreens that leave white residue on clothes and make me look white as ghost. Neutrogena Ultimate Sport by far has least residue for SPF 70 sunscreen.I do not think it is very water or sweat resistent and it has strong scent that I wouldn’t miss too much. However it is 4 oz. and all other comparable Neutrogena sunscreen lotions are just 3 oz.I use ton of sunscreen so price-value ratio is important to me.
It’s a good sunblock, but shiny
I’ve used up two whole containers of this. Since I only used it on my face, one container would typically get me through a whole year (daily use). It seemed to work fine (the doctor recommended me to wear sunblock so that fresh surgery scars on my face would not get sun damage and they have not so it works well). I never had an issue with the product breaking me out or causing any kind of discomfort. The only thing is that it does leave your face looking shiny, even if you don’t have oily skin (mine is normal). You’ll look horrible in flash photography if you don’t wear any makeup on top, but the problem actually goes away if you just wear this under your makeup. I’ve switched to a slightly more expensive sunblock now that leaves the skin looking matte, but I wouldn’t say no to this one either as it does its job of protecting your skin very well.
