I smell like breakfast
If you have a body, and you are prone to washing it, then boy are you in luck! When I used this stuff for the first time I couldn’t believe what I was smelling. I stood there in the shower for six hours until I had used the entire bottle on myself. It was awesome! My girlfriend was frantically banging on the door wanting to use the toilet, but that’s OK, after a while she just went outside. If you have understanding people in your household they’ll accept that you need to wash yourself for hours after getting a whiff of “Nature’s Gate Body Wash Papaya Scent”. The only drawback is once I left the shower my girlfriend was chewing on me all day. I smelled like fruit! I sat her down and tried to explain that me smelling like a papaya was an illusion painted by the body wash, but she couldn’t accept it. It’s a small price to pay for smelling like the most beautiful breakfast ever.
A nice product and good addition to our family’s selection of personal hygiene products
The Nature’s Gate Papaya Velvet Body Wash goes on smoothly, and does a great job as a cleanser. The aroma is nice, and we have no complaints.I don’t usually write reviews that are this short, but, frankly, there’s not much else to say.A good product, and my college-aged daughter who used most of it reported that it is a top-notch product.
Great smell, leaves skin soft.
The smell of this is quite unique. I would call it a mix of a citrus and vanilla scented candles (the quality candles, not those cheap-o ones you get for a quarter at chinamart.) While the consistency is not as thick as other body washes used, a little bit does indeed go a long way.Other good things:Made in the USA.This does NOT have sulfates, paraben, EDTA, or Phthalate. As far as allergies for those with sensitive skin, the full ingredient list:Water, cocamidopropyl Hydroxsultaine, Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate, Glycerin, Disodium Cocoamphodiacetate, Lauryl Glucoside, Polysorbate 20, Carica Papaya (Papaya) Fruit Extract, Ananas Sativus (Pineapple) Fruit Extract, Sodium Hyaluronate, Butyrospermum Parkii, (Shea Butter), Prunus Amygdalus (Sweet Almond) Oil, Prunus Armeniaca (Apricot) Kernel Oil, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Oil, Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose, Tocopheryl Acetate, Malva Sylvestris (Mallow) Flower Extract, Ginkgo Biloba Leaf Extract, Sodium Lauroyl Sarcosinate, Glyceryl Undecylenate, Sodium Hydroxide, Phenoxyethanol, Citric Acid, FragranceAs you can see, it’s not exactly “all natural” with stuff that you readily know what it is, where it comes from, and what it does. Also, compared to some other body washes, it doesn’t get quite as a thick of a lather, but it does still lather and leave skin feeling soft and smooth. For me, I had no “residue” feeling after rinsing off as usual.
This body wash, bath/shower gel has a very minimal citrus scent, which I prefer over strong perfumes. It is a clear gel, forms an average lather and is pleasant enough to use. What I’m not really crazy about is I’m left with a slick, slimy film and feel of the skin. I noticed the same feeling in other moisturizing bath products and I tend not to buy this type, although I have dry skin.I just leave the shower feeling that I am not so much fresher as I am layered in slick film which seems impossible to remove unless I go over it with a regular soap.In my own opinion , I don’t care for this feeling at all. Others may like it though.
Takes A Whole Lot of Soap for a Little Bit of Lather
I was excited to try a new body wash – especially one with a Papaya scent.Unfortunately, I was disappointed. The fragrance in this body wash is a bit too faint – which is a preference that varies from person to person. So no stars deducted for that. However, I like a body wash that lathers up well. The more suds, the cleaner I feel. With this body wash, I had to pump out a lot of soap and still produced only half of the suds of similar soaps.Being made from natural products saved it from a one star rating from me. But that is the only positive thing I have to say about it.It’s not something I would consider purchasing.
No Miracles Here, But Hey… Nice Soap!
As I generously poured the body wash into my washcloth, I noticed that it was thin and poured easily.(Which concerned me a little, I don’t want it to be used up too quickly… ie: the smallest soap in the house.) The directions stated to use a generous amount, so I did. Once on the rag, it lathered up well and when put to my skin, it was very easily transported. I thought to myself that it would make a nice shaving soap also. I regress… As I was lathering up, I started to reminisce about childhood things, like sore throats and coughs. The smell of the soap reminded me of some yucky, chalky childhood medicine I used to ingest. Now, you might ask, “Why give it four stars when the smell was horrible?” I will answer. The pungent odor is actually nice and refreshing once out of the shower. I even had my sons smell my arm to see what they thought. Well, they thought I was strange for making them smell my arm, but they liked it! The bright, fresh skin that is advertised hasn’t happened yet, but for a body wash, I felt like this did a good job. Hey, I feel clean, refreshed, and I smell that way.
Does what it’s supposed to
This is an opaque body wash and therefore doesn’t offer much moisturization, but it isn’t too bad. It lathers fairly well and smells pretty good. I didn’t think it smelled a whole lot like papaya, but it does smell good and sweet. I would have liked it more if it was more moisturizing. My skin felt dry after I got out of the shower and I don’t usually have that problem with my usual brand.
Great if you don’t like lather and enjoy smelling like air freshener!
I tried this product in the shower four times and I am just not really crazy about it. I found that I had to keep pressing the pump for more product because it did not produce the nice thick lather my usual soap does. It even tell you on the directions to pump a generous amount on to a wash cloth and I guess they really meant a generous amount. If you like this product then good for the company because you will be buying a lot since you need to use so much. I also didn’t feel all that clean after using it and ended up taking another shower with my usual product. As for the fragrance well, it’s not fresh and clean smelling it’s more of an overwhelming vanilla/ fruity note which would be better as an air freshener or candle then a body wash. It’s just not a nice fresh clean smelling product I would choose for a body wash. I give it 2 stars because it is fine on the bathroom sink for washing your hands but it won’t be going back in my shower.
Nature’s Gate Papaya Velvet body wash
I got this in the mail today and decided to test it out right away. This goes on your skin smooth, and smells so fruity, and clean. You feel so clean when you’re done rinsing off. I really liked the aroma, and the cleanliness that you felt after you were dried off. I would recommend anyone try this stuff out, it’s nicely scented, and rinses off clean. We will use this product again! This is a body wash, so it can be used on your entire body, not just your hands.
Great wash, lousy aftersmell
It isn’t often as a Viner that I get products like this, but when I do get them, I do my best to try them right away. I just received my bottle today in the mail just before I was ready to take my bath, and for the most part, I have my arsenal of soaps and body washes to use. This particular body wash came and I was even able to check out how it feels in a simple hand washing. for the most part it’s ok; smells nice going on, but afterwards, it smells a bit funny, however, it has a good lather, great for washing of body parts, and if one can go past that one detail I mentioned, but then again different strokes, you have a great wash for your bathing time.
Nice shower luxury
There are many reasons I like this body wash. First of all, the pump is a stroke of genius. Being able to leave the bottle in place and squirt the product onto a washcloth or puff is so much handier than trying to juggle a slippery wet bottle. It also makes it possible to measure the amount you use very easily, enabling you to get exactly the amount of lather you like without guessing. I also found it lathered well; I used four squirts initially and quickly realized that two would have been plenty (note that I do have soft water).I usually don’t like fruit fragrances (except in fruits), but this body wash is an exception. The fragrance is light and appealing, and it dissipates quickly after the shower so I don’t go around smelling like rotting fruit, which is how most fruit fragrances strike me. It also makes it a nice choice for an all-family body wash, since no one will have to waft unwanted perfume all day.I also like that some consideration was given to the ingredients used to create this body wash. After all, your skin is the largest organ of your body, and it’s hard to think it’s a good idea to regularly expose it to petrochemicals and artificial colors and scents. Most important, for me, is how my skin reacts to the product. My skin is a little sensitive and easily irritated by some products, and it is dry, especially in the winter months. I had no problems with the body wash and happily, I find I’m able to cut back on applying post-shower moisturizer, using it only every two or three showers, without getting the ashy skin and dry-skin itching that often plague me. The bottle also claims that it “brightens” skin, but I can’t say I notice any difference. My skin certainly isn’t duller, but it looks pretty much the same as ever to me. Presumably this claim is based on papaya being an exfoliant, but I doubt it is concentrated enough or remains on the skin long enough to have much exfoliant effect.I anticipate this nice big bottle lasting quite awhile, especially since I’m able to use just the right amount each time, but when it does run out, I will look for this brand again.
*Rich* And *Velvety*! Scent Is On The *Sweet* Side…
The NATURE’S GATE PAPAYA BODY WASH comes out clear, thick, and provides good lather. It rinses away cleanly, easily, and didn’t leave behind a soapy film or residue. It made my skin feel hydrated, but I don’t have excessively dry skin. If you do, then I would advise doing as the bottle suggests and follow with your favorite body lotion. I still follow with body lotion after showering, and coupled with the NATURE’S GATE BODY WASH my skin stayed moisturized even between showers. The one thing I didn’t really care for was the scent. It isn’t strong or overpowering but it has this overly sweet smell. It smells like a combo of pineapple and coconut and comes off as sickly-sweet, at least to me. The scent doesn’t linger and you get used to it, but it can be off putting for those with sensitive noses.Otherwise the NATURE’S GATE PAPAYA VELVET BODY WASH is pretty good.
Gentle Body Wash, Great Moisturizer
I have a tendency to really dry skin, especially as the heating comes on and the air gets super dry. This year, starting in October, I have been going nuts from itchy dry skin, worse than I have had that in previous years. I have been trying all kinds of moisturizing products, with little success, until I tried the Nature’s Gate Papaya Velvet Moisture Body Wash. When I tried it the first time, I found it to be very gentle, with only a slight, pleasant, fruity fresh odor. It did not foam like soap does. It was not greasy, and rinsed off readily. I used it all over, including on my face. I did not use any additional moisturizers, because I wanted to see if my skin felt tight or became dry again. To my surprise, there was no tightness, and no flakiness at all, and my skin was very soft. I was impressed. My extreme itching has not returned, and I am so happy. The product is not oily at all, and its gentleness belies its effectiveness.I highly recommend this product, I will be investing in a case of it, to make sure that I have it readily available.I use it now exclusively, daily, and I do not need additional moisturizers. My guess is that with its particular soft properties, it would be good for all skin types.Terrific product, I am happy to have found it.
If you smell like a fruit after using this, it might be for some other reason…
I rate the Nature’s Gate Papaya Velvet Moisture Body Wash “average”.The scent this product leaves on my skin is very faint, but it has a certain smell coming out of the bottle that I would call “waxy” or “mediciney”. My wife strongly disliked the smell of this body wash from the beginning, and refused to use it even though papaya is one of her favorite fruits. I did not get any moisturizing benefit from it. The outside humidity was low for the last few days and the heater dries the air inside, so I am getting a little bit of dry skin on my hands and face, but no more and no less than usually this time of year. Im my opinion, Nature’s Gate Papaya Velvet Moisture Body Wash produces less suds than other body washes I tried, e.g. Gillette 2-in-1 Gentle Clean Shampoo and Body Wash, and I prefer more suds.Overall, Nature’s Gate Papaya Velvet Moisture Body Wash is an OK product, and, as with other personal hygiene products, some people will like the way it smells and works while other won’t. I did not feel strong enough about this product to become a constant user.P.S. Just a warning. When buying liquids such as this, one should expect some leakage. This is a second “soap” product I received from Amazon first being 9-pack of All Free and Clear laundry detergent. Both times some of the product leaked. First time, half of one bottle of All leaked inside the box creating a mess, but Amazon was great as always and issued a partial credit. This time, Nature’s Gate Papaya Velvet Moisture Body Wash was shipped wrapped in plastic inside the box; however, it still leaked, and, although the spill was contained, it was quite messy.
Works Great! How Did They Make an Exfoliant That Moisturizes, Too?
Nature’s Gate Papaya Velvet Moisture Body Wash smells good and works even better, smoothing and hydrating the skin. I’ve used mine for about a month & it has made a noticeable difference. I had a patch of uneven tanning on my forearms that is gone completely and I have no doubt that this Body Wash is the reason why. Other washes have left my skin dry and itchy, but not this one. It leaves skin nicely exfoliated and comfortably moisturized; I’ve found I can use this & skip the after-bath lotion routine. The ingredient list helps explain why this seems to work so well: papaya and pineapple for fruit acid exfoliation; shea butter, apricot kernel oil, almond oil, soybean oil, glycerine, and Vitamin E for natural moisturizing.I particularly like what’s NOT in it: it is free of phthalates, parabens, and sulfates, which have been shown in some medical studies to be powerful endocrine disruptors (most of which have estrogenic effects–leading to weight gain and increased breast cancer risk). Definitely ingredients to avoid, but, if you read labels, you’ll see that most body washes DO contain these chemicals. Kudos to Nature’s Gate for making this Wash without these kamikaze toxins.Highly recommended; I will DEFINITELY buy this again!
Really lovely product, as most of the nature’s gate products are. It has a nice smell; not sure I would guess papaya right off, but it’s fruity smelling and best of all, it’s not too strong or fake smelling.I have fairly dry skin and I thought this was pretty moisturizing. I still used lotion after showering, but I always do.I would recommend this product and will likely repurchase after it runs out.
I really like this
It’s thick and silky and it smells heavenly. The company does not test its products on animals nor does it use animal derived ingredients in the formula. This pleases the bunny hugger in me. There is nothing to not like about this body wash and I would definitely buy more.
Lovely scent, good cleanser
On the whole I’m very happy with this cleanser. The scent is very pleasant and fruity, without being overly heavy, clingy, or having the nasty chemical undertones that some scented body washes carry. I’m not sure if I’d have actually been able to pick it out specifically as papaya if I’d never seen the label vs just recognizing it as some kind of tropical fruit, but I’m not quite that picky about the details of scents so long as I enjoy them.A couple of pumps (about the same as I use with any of my other cleansers) produces more than enough lather to wash myself off thoroughly, and it hasn’t given me any issues with drying out my skin either. There’s also no animal testing, no ingredients that I recognize as being chemically nasty, and the cleansers are biodegradable. I have no complaints about it and I’ve enjoyed using it. While the particular bottle I’ve been using was given to me for review, I would definitely be willing to buy this in the future.
gentle, nice scent
I really like this product. It is gentle, as advertised, and the texture reminds me of the lotion-soap that hospitals use- very moisturizing due to frequent hand washings by staff. there is a pleasant, but not overpowering tropical scent, of coconuts and papaya, and the liquid soap is not overly bubbly or thick, which i prefer. after using it on my hands, i noticed my skin did not feel like all the oils had been stripped away, like some soaps make my hands feel- dry and uncomfortable. However, i still felt it did a good job cleaning my skin. this wash is gentle enough that i used it on my children. I recommend this product as a nice, mild soap, akin to a dove soap bar- maybe even more mild.
Good Product But Scent Needs Enhancing
This body wash has grown on me over the past several weeks of using it after swimming. I swim three times a week in winter. The body wash lathers nicely and does a very nice job on your skin. It is easy to carry around in my swim tote and use in the locker room stall. I only have one complaint: Usually this natural product version of an ordinary product has an incredibly delicious smell. This is supposed to be papaya based but one is hard pressed to smell any papaya. I think the manufacturer needs to work on its smell. I also find it a bit pricey but it is lasting a lot longer than I thought it would. Thus, it is a better value than I initially thought it was. I do not have skin allergies so cannot evaluate that claim for this product.
Strong Sweet Perfume Smell Right out of Container, Later Dissipates Somewhat. Ok Moisturizing. Nice Pump Design
This papaya body wash is supposed to smell like papaya, but, to me, it smells more like dime store perfume. The initial smell, although it dissipates after a shower, is a total turn off for my husband, and he refuses to even try the body wash. A lower key, less perfume-y smell would mean only 1 body wash container in our shower. The body wash claims to brighten dull skin and to be a moisturizer because its ingredients help lock moisture in the skin. I have dry skin, and after about two weeks use, I cannot tell that my skin is “brighter” but I can say that there are some moisturizing qualities in the body wash (but not enough for me to discontinue use of an additional moisturizer post shower).I have gotten use to the body wash’s initial smell, but I do not think I will purchase it for regular family use because I would need to keep 2 body wash containers in my shower. If the Papaya Body Wash were a more neutral smell, I’d reconsider my decision. 4 Stars because of the heavy perfume smell.*** A nice thing about this company is that a portion of their product sales go to a good cause, so if this is something that you look for when purchasing products, take a look at the company’s website for more detailed information. ***
In one word: Disappointing
I was expecting this to be a really nice smelling product as I’ve purchased this brand before and really liked it, however, this wasn’t very appealing to me at all. There wasn’t a nice smell to it and the product itself was rather watery, and as I said “disappointing”. Would not recommend this item.
Nice but not wow-worthy.
While I do not notice any additional moisturizing properties in this product, I do like the smell. It reminds me of Hawaii and things tropical – and this time of year thoughts of warm places is always welcome. The consistency is also a bit milky which helps it stay put when using it wash and not having to chase the soap all over! Finally the pump is a WONDERFUL thing, makes the use so much easier!
Delicious smelling, love it!
I have pretty dry skin, and this did not dry it out further. It does claim to be moisturizing, but I rarely really find that. One thing I like about this product is that it is not opaque, and has glycerin in it. (I have found that opaque body washes don’t usually have glycerin in them.) The reason I like that it is not opaque, is because opaque soaps get my glass shower walls crusted up with film. So, I only use clear body wash, never bar soap. In fact, my 5 year old daughter saw a bar of soap in someone’s powder room, and she asked what it was. I had to laugh, as I think bar soaps are just messy and I just don’t deal with them.As for the papaya smell, it is a delicious scent! But the great thing about it too, is that you don’t smell like a fruit basket for hours after. Somehow the smell disappears once you are done with your shower. One other feature I like about this body wash is how it comes in a pump bottle. I feel like I use less soap with a pump than if I have a bottle with a flip-top cap.Of course another reason to buy this product is that it is very “green”. No phosphates, lots of great natural oils like almond oil, shea butter, and plant extracts. I do think most of this gets washed down the drain, but if you like to take baths, then you would probably reap the benefit more. I know that Nature’s Gate also makes a corresponding papaya lotion if you really like the papaya smell. Happy bathing!
My new favorite body wash!
I have to say – I absolutely adore Nature’s Gate Papaya Body Wash! I didn’t find the scent to be too strong. It’s certainly no stronger than your average scented body wash. And after I shower, there isn’t a powerful papaya scent, so don’t worry if you don’t like really strong smelling body wash. I noticed after the first time I used the soap how incredibly soft it made my skin. In the colder months, my skin tends to try out, particularly my legs, but the body wash even made my legs feel soft and moisturized. The pump is another thing I’m in love with. I’ve never had a body wash that has a pump bottle but I find it to be very convenient. I just have to do a few pumps onto my loofah and it’s ready to go. Sometimes it’s harder to squeeze the soap out. So I would definitely recommend this body wash to everyone and I definitely plan on using Nature’s Gate body wash in the future.
Works well for sensitive skin.
This is an effective body wash that doesn’t have an overpowering scent and leaves skin nice, smooth, and silky. Most importantly, it doesn’t leave my skin dry and itchy. Nevertheless, everyone’s skin reacts differently to different soaps and bodywashes. My family and I usually prefer organic soaps bought OTC at the local pharmacy but this bodywash worked alright and is worth a try.
Moisturizing body wash with nice scent
I liked this body wash. It has a nice, soft tropical/slightly fruity/slightly coconut scent that does not linger after use. It seems live up to its claim of moisturizing since it left my skin soft and not dry or itchy. I have sensitive skin and also am allergic to some perfumes and strong scents and I did not have any problems with using this body wash. As others have said, it does not produce much lather or suds, but that was not a problem for me. The bottle is large and it should last for a long time, so although it seems a bit expensive, it is a good value.
a wonderful body wash..
I decided to switch to a different type of body wash, in order to cleanse my body of toxins and bad ingredients in my personal hygiene products. Nature’s Gate struck me as a very pure brand of bath/body product. First of all, the smell of papaya and pineapple is delicious. Secondly, it cleanses and adds great moisture to my skin, without it being greasy. I was surprised that the product had a gel consistency, instead of being more like a mousse or thick, soapy consistency. I feel like I am feeding my body, whenever I use it. This is definitely a body wash I would recommend.
A Boy and His Soap
Nature’s Gate Papaya Velvet Moisture Body Wash has a really long name. It’s a body wash soap that comes in a pump bottle. So how was my bath/shower, you might ask.Just fine. As stated this comes in a pump type bottle as opposed to a squeeze bottle you’ll eventually have to set upside down. I rather like that concession. However, the edges of the pump top (the part you press down to pump the soap) are very thin and easily break with a small impact. Note that this does not affect the pump’s ability to work but it is a cosmetic thing that may bother some. The bottle itself is white with the Nature’s Gate graphics printed on it.The soap has a pleasant fruity smell, papaya like as you might imagine. It seemed to lather fine and left me feeling clean and smooth (but still manly, grrr). I think that the main selling point here is the smell – the light fruitiness is pleasing. But beyond that it is typical body wash soap and isn’t doing anything more or less than most soap does.I’d give it 3 for the nice smell and pump style bottle but can’t in good conscience round up to 4 as it is, after all, simply more soap so I’ll have to give it a 3 (which is average). I’d recommend trying it to see if you like it. If you’re a big fan of the smell then this will likely by a 4 star product for you.
I’m in love with this body wash
I don’t have any sort of faithfulness to any particular body wash, but I think this one may just have changed my mind.First off, I love the pump dispenser! It makes things so much easier in the shower and yet it’s not so big that it takes up a lot of space. The body wash itself is clear and the smell is heavenly. It doesn’t have that heavy artificial smelling sweetness like other fruit scented washes I’ve tried. This has a lovely faint mix of real fresh papaya with a hint of cocoa – when it suds up under warm water, the smell wafts up with the steam and it’s wonderful. I also like that the scent doesn’t linger on the skin after the bath for long which makes me think that there isn’t a residue left after bathing.I have issues with dry skin so I was worried about not having a body wash with lotion in the mix, but to my surprise my skin was no more dry out of the shower than with any of the other dry-skin moisture washes I’ve used. This was great, I’m definitely buying again.
