good & cheap …
I like cleansers with few chemicals, that have not been tested on animals, and are not smelly; this shampoo is all those things, and it is inexpensive. I have been using it for a long time, years, and it is good.
Believe the Good Reviews!!!!!
I made a point to review this product on Amazon, even thought I purchased it at my local Whole Foods. When I was pregnant, I made an effort to buy “natural” products. I tried many, many sulfate-free shampoos and found them lacking. They either didn’t lather enough, didn’t clean my hair, or left it feeling tangled. This shampoo is the BEST sulfate-free shampoo I’ve ever tried. It has a great lather, it smells so, so, so good, and it leaves my hair clean and shiny. I honestly think it makes my hair look healthier. I have very thick, dry, highlighted hair. It looks less damaged after a few washes with this shampoo.I’m pleased to see other positive reviews of this product here on Amazon. This shampoo truly deserves the hype.I haven’t tried the coordinating conditioner, I just use Suave or something basic.
If you like the smell you’ll love it, if you don’t, you’ll hate it
I can’t use this shampoo. It smells like medicine to me. I LOVE strong herbal smells, but this doesn’t seem to be the normal herbally smell. I REALLY wanted to love this shampoo, but I can’t. Even my husband thinks my hair smells gross 🙁 It is the strongest smelling shampoo I have ever purchased.
I like it but…
I used this shampoo years ago, and loved it. I was happy to find it again, and wanted to love it as much as I used to. Maybe the problem is my hair, but after using this shampoo and its matching conditioner for a few weeks, I noticed that my hair was much drier and more brittle, and I was shedding like crazy. I do color my hair, so maybe that is the issue. Much as I love the way this smells, I won’t be buying it again. I will have to find something better suited for my not-so-young hair.
I like it
I like it, but I don’t understand all the ingredients. There are some crazy sounding ingredients in it, and it seems like it may not be as healthy as thought. I purchased the same brand conditioner from my health food store and it is good too. Love the smell. Just not sure about the ingredients even though it states to be sulfate free.
Smells OK but works amazing
I don’t care for the smell of this shampoo, but combined with the conditioner it works amazing! It lathers really well, which is something I personally like in a shampoo. Definitely recommend this shampoo/conditioner combo. Oh and the body wash works super well and smells incredible (I use the papaya one).
I’ve been faithful user of Nature’s Gate brand shampoo and conditioner for a few years now and I can honestly say this herbal daily cleansing is pretty consistent. I have Type 3a/3b wavy and curly hair that is highly porous, thin stranded but full. Meaning, I need something that cleanses without stripping my natural hair, yet doesn’t cause intense frizz and poof from overdrying. I only use this once a week and with a bit of conditioner just to be sure there is no stripping; However, when I use it solo, I stilly et great results. With a quarter sized amount, my whole head of hair is cleansed. The smell is light and the ingredients are natural with no sulfates that are not vegetable derived. I didn’t give it 5 stars because I still use apple cider vinegar to keep my dandruff at bay.
not great but not terrible either. i bought this because i wanted a safer product without all of the chemicals. the smell is nice and it seems to leave my hair a little softer/easier to comb.
Best Shampoo I’ve Come Across, And Love The Scent
This shampoo has always done wonders for my hair, where others leave my hair brittle and feeling like a pile of hay. It works up into a huge lather without much work, and always rinses out cleanly. I have to scratch my head at the reviews of people here not liking the scent. Maybe they’re used to Pantene or that "ultra-clean" sterile salon smell? This stuff rules! It’s got this subtle spice smell that I’ve had many compliments on over the years. And more importantly, it keeps my hair and scalp healthy.
This is the BEST shampoo I’ve ever used!
Look, this is the not only the best shampoo I’ve ever used, but the price on this 18 oz, 3-pack is an awesome price. A similar Aubrey shampoo costs over twice as much per ounce and I like this Nature’s Gate product better, also. I have no idea why someone complained about the smell, because it definitely has a very pleasant (and not strong) smell.I’m good at finding fault with products that don’t perform, but this shampoo is just fantastic. A little goes a long way, and it leaves my hair really soft and clean. Also, the ingredients list is so much safer and less artificial than that of most commercial shampoos. I am definitely staying with this or a similar Nature’s Gate shampoo, for the rest of my life. Actually, I can’t believe it took me this long to find a shampoo of this quality.
I love, love, love the scent.
This stuff smells amazing and works wonderfully. Showering with this is almost like an aromatherapy experience in itself. Some people complain about it drying out your hair; I don’t have that problem, but I do condition with coconut oil, so that might be a factor.
It has an easy texture, leaving your hair nice and clean, and it doesent have a lot of chemicals, so your hair is protected.
It was a great purchase…a great deal as well. A lot of sulfate free shampoo leaves my hair greasy, but this one doesn’t at all. It leaves my hair feeling soft and clean. I like the scent too, not everyone will, it isn’t the same small as most store bought shampoos. It is a very fresh, herbal type smell…kind of like walking into a garden that has both flowers and herbs in it.
Post accutane frizz cure- all.
I am 38 years old, and tried a new shampoo every time I needed it for the last 5-10 years. 2 years ago I went through a whole course of accutane, which left me with a huge shed, and frizzy, kinky wierd dry nasty hair. My hair is dark brown, fine textured , straight, and average thickness( pony tail is 2.5 inches around. ) – I have grown it to 30 inches, but it is starting to look damaged, especially since accutane. It is requiring extra good care in order to make it to classic length. I also recently began henna treatments, to improve my color and add some conditioning and bulk to my hair. That is working great, and this shampoo and conditioner is remarkable in how well it works! In all the years of searching, I have NEVER felt a shampoo and conditioner work like this. Sure, they look a little strange… especially the conditioner, but think comments from people freaked out about the consistency or color of the product are a little silly… I mean, judge it based on how it WORKS, not those things. My hair feels like my 5 year old nieces, now! When I use the shampoo and conditioner, it feels different when applying ( I enjoy it! ) – and the effect on my hair is that my hair is smooth, soft, shiny, and smells FANTASTIC.This is the shampoo and conditioner for the person liking strong scents that last.It is spicy, and agree with another person who wrote that it is like spicy powder. The scent blends wonderfully with henna, used with cinnamon, and allspice.I hope to buy the bulk sizes of this, and that it will be the same quality.
