Kalahari NARS duo – great classic color combo, silky texture
I have the NARS duo eyeshadow in Kalahari. The color on the left is described as a bronze pearl, while the right is a milk chocolate shimmer. I use the left color all over, and *sometimes* I’ll use the right color in the crease. These colors are especially pretty over a golden eyeshadow primer. No, they’re not exciting “WOW!” colors, but I have big blue/green eyes that are my best feature, so using bright colors distracts away from the natural beauty of my eyes. I can’t pull off bright colors no matter how hard I try. But the bronze pearl color in Kalahari enhance my eyes ever so nicely. I’ve been using this compact for 5 months or so? Hitting pan on the bronze pearl, and it looks like I’ve barely scratched the surface of the milk chocolate color. The eye shadow formula in the duo is different than what NARS uses in their single eyeshadows… the single eyeshadows are more powdery (eh, not thrilled), while the duo eyeshadows are silky. So, I stick with buying NARS shadows in the duo compacts. This eyeshadow glides onto my eyelid easily and never looks blotchy. I don’t get fallout or flakes coming off under my eyes, and minimal creasing, though I always use primer, makes the color of shadows show true on my (often red and irritated) eyelids. If there’s a negative, it’s that this eyeshadow formula only comes in the duo and I don’t find myself using the milk chocolate color much at all. I can’t get that bronze pearl color in the Kalahari duo as a single e/s, I even asked NARS to be sure. There isn’t a matching color in the singles, and the singles aren’t as silky.**Update** I’ve been playing with Urban Decay’s eyeshadows…. they have that silky texture I’m looking for, a joy to apply and blend with great color payoff. In the pan, I thought Blaze was a close match to the NARS Kalahari bronze pearl, but Blaze is actually a touch more coppery when I apply it. Still love Blaze though, goes great with my blue eyes. Also have UD’s Toasted, and that is a match for the NARS Kalahari bronze pearl, in my opinion. Yeah!
I have the NARS duo eyeshadow in Brumes. The product is velvety smooth, easily blendable, and highly pigmented. NARS has a large variety of colors to choose from. While some of them are neutral, most of them are vivid and bold, so if you’re not a fan of intense eye makeup, you should probably look elsewhere. However, you can have a lot of fun playing with these colors. The Brumes shades are a deep charcoal gray and a dark, shimmery grayish-blue. I love them, but they’re super dramatic, so consider yourself warned.
Great Opalescent – Fun Color
This is a great eyeshadow to have in your collection, it looks icy white but casta a hue of blue or green, fun color and adds dimension to your eye look. Nalo Jones, professional makeup artist and beauty expert based in Los Angeles, can view web site at […]
It’s just ok, but- no applicator???
No applicator?? The least they could do is include one!! What a rip off. You are basically paying for the name, the shadow itself is nothing special. I won’t buy anymore. Now I have to buy applicators.
Picture for Underworld is wrong
I always check out the Nars displays when I’m at Nordstrom or Sephora. They’re pretty much my go-to for new makeup (except occasional YSL eyeshadow palettes). And so I knew that Underworld was silvery/grey on the left and shimmery deep denim blue on the right. Amazon’s pic makes it look like pale “Maybelline blue” on the left and deep purple on the right. So beware. Check the colors on the Nars site before you order, is my suggestion. This is excellent stuff – wears well all day long with no primer or top coat like Finish Line. Highly recommended. This duo, Underworld, coordinates very well with Demon Lover if you want to use more than 2 colors.
I have bought NARS products for years knowing that no matter what I bought I was getting a quality product which why I don’t mind spending the money. Unfortunately this duo Windstar lacks everything NARS is coveted for! No pigmentation, awful glitter fall out, absolutely awful. These shades are so beautiful and flattering in the pan but are virtually invisible once you attempt to apply them. Save your money and get All about Eve or Alhambra
I love Khakis and moss greens and wanted to try this duo (Paramaribo) . It’s amazing, easy to blend and great pigmentation,I applied it before work and it lasted till I took it off at night. After all ,it’s NARS ,and I own some other NARS eyeshadows and they are all AMAZING.
