Does not work for me….
I returned this product after one use. It does not work for me at all. No effect whatsoever. Someone at my job even joked that I should be careful that I’m not getting table-salt or something mimicking the true product. I even asked the opinion on an expert, and they said I should have never even considered buying it. Will trying elsewhere.
A Very Cool Discovery!
I know I feel great after a hot soak in Dead Sea Salt, but I wanted to find out why. Here’s what I discovered on Google.“The waters from the Dead Sea are unique in that they contain 27% of various salts as compared to 3% in normal sea water. Further, while sodium accounts for approximately 80% of the salt content of normal sea water, it comprises much less of the salt total in water from the Dead Sea. The balance of the salts in Dead Sea water are magnesium, potassium, calcium chloride and bromides”.“Magnesium is important for both combating stress and fluid retention, slowing skin aging and calming the nervous system. Calcium is effective at preventing water retention, increasing circulation and strengthening bones and nails. Potassium energizes the body, helps to balance skin moisture and is a crucial mineral to replenish following intense exercise. Bromides act to ease muscle stiffness and relax muscles. Sodium is important for the lymphatic fluid balance (this in turn is important for immune system function). So we can see that bathing in high quality sea salt could replenish the minerals which are critical to our skin metabolism”So that was my lesson for the day and I plan on using this after working out or when I just feel crummy. The package is very attractive and makes for a perfect gift type item. Product generously supplied by San Francisco Bath Salt Company.
Not real Dead Sea salt or it’s mixed with a filler like 30 percent salt, 70 percent something else(chemical like)
This stuff is not real. It’s Epsom salt or something. I’ve used Dead Sea products and I’ve used the salt by itself and this is not it. This stuff almost made me vomit. The taste is nowhere near natural. I use it as a mouth wash and wanted to try this brand. Never ever ever again. Doesn’t make a good scrub either. I make my own body products and Dead Sea salt is an ingredient I use. I’d give it no stars if I could. Buy at your own risk.

You can also use a handful in a foot bath, if you have one of those “standing on your feet” jobs that cause swelling and pain for your hard-working feet (a foot bath with these salts is also great before giving yourself a pedicure!)I love the aroma…it’s like a whiff of the sea…and you can imagine yourself on a boat or relaxing on a beach. This salt is 100% Dead Sea mineral rich salt from Israel, and if you don’t have time for a nice long soak, sprinkle some on a washcloth or mix with your shower gel, and enjoy a lot of the health benefits while you shower. I am a new business owner. I can honestly say that I never intended on starting a business, but to use this product as a gift for party favors for my daughter’s baby shower. Even though I did use it for my initial purpose, I found that my creation with the salts were super loved by my friends and family. To make it even better, Minera offers free shipping and it does not take long to receive the product. And what’s even better is the certificate of authenticity. I will continue to buy from Minera.2/17/2013 UPDATE: I must add that this product is super perfect for my salt scrubs. I use them and so does my customers. They all love the texture and the exfoliation is gentle, but effective. I will continue to use this product for my customers. Three thumbs up SFSC!
I am a fan of fancy baths and this salt is one of my favorite luxuries! I put a handful or two in while the bath is running and will also use some of this salt with a bit of scented oil in my hand to make a decadent scrub. It makes the water silky smooth and the dead sea minerals calm anything going on with your skin, whether it be soreness from a workout, eczema, too much sun, itchiness, and more. This is one of my core bath products!

For a therapy bath, pour 2 cups into your bath water and soak for 20 minutes. Always rinse after using Dead Sea Salt.A quick web search pulled up many benefits of using Dead Sea Salt as a therapy soak.It treats psoriasis, skin allergies, acne, hives, cellulite, dandruff, arthritis, back pain, & is a recognized cure for stress, insomnia & related conditions. San Fransisco Salt Company’s web site provides information on a few clinical research studies which tested the therapeutic properties of Dead Sea salts. More clinical studies can be found by doing a web search.Opting for a relaxing bath, I added a handful to my bath water. It dissolved quickly & had a slight mineral scent. A few small pieces of inorganic material were left in the bottom of the tub after the water was drained. After reading of the osteoarthritis benefits, I decided that I am going to soak my hand to relieve inflammation & will update my review with the results.I’ve been provided several types of San Fransisco Salt Company products for review & have been so impressed with their quality that I have purchased more for gifts. Wonderful product for a relaxing bath!
I have been using Epsoms salt baths for many years to relax and invigorate. I have read where the Dead Sea salt contains additional minerals and decided to order some. Although the latter is more expensive per pound compared to the Epsoms, I figured it was worth a try. Combined both salts and scented with lavender oil (also an AMAZON purchase) for a truly heavenly soak. Also created my own salt scrub by mixing with body oils (borage, grapeseed, rose hip, etc. also AMAZON vendors). Sit on the edge of the tub, moisten your skin and apply the scrub all over– before you hit the water and allow the crystals to work their magic. Soak at least 12 minutes for ultimate benefit. BTW, the oil scrub does not make my skin greasy.
Pure mineral salt from the Dead Sea
Minera Dead Sea Salt retains all the minerals found in the waters of the Dead Sea, which is over eight times saltier than the oceans. It is so salty that a layer of salt forms on the sea floor and pebbles of salt wash up on the shores. I will probably never get a chance to fulfill my childhood dream of going to the Middle East and floating in those buoyant waters, but I am able to experience the same mineral salts in my own bathtub. The usual sea salt is mostly sodium but salt from the Dead Sea has much more magnesium and potassium than sodium plus significant quantities of several other minerals. (See the photo at the top of the page for the mineral composition.)The fine grains have a faint and slightly sweet natural odor and dissolve quickly in warm water for a relaxing and reviving soak. Mixed with liquid soap, this salt also makes an effective scrub to exfoliate the feet after a pedicure. After a few minutes of rubbing, place the feet in hot water until it cools and the bubbles and minerals will make them feel so clean and refreshed.A sample was provided for unbiased review by San Francisco Salt Company.
I Didn’t Want to Get out of the Bath
The manufacturer of this product provided a sample for my review and, as I have had a very, very stressful week, I’ve been extremely tense and very grumpy. I decided it was the perfect time to put some of this Dead Sea Salt in my bath.Oh, I want more of this! This is 100% sea salt without color additives. It has a mineral scent that’s very pleasant and didn’t bother my very allergy-prone nose. Once poured into the running bath, they dissolved quickly leaving my bath just wonderful! I soaked in the bath for about half an hour and, frankly, the only reason I got out is that I was falling asleep. The tension in my muscles was gone and I was ready for sleep.Immediately after drying, I noticed that my skin felt very soft and remained soft the next day.I was extremely impressed with this product. Not only would I use it again, I plan to purchase some before this sample runs out!
My first time to use
Did you know that the Dead Sea actually has 31% salts? Because there is no outlet to the Dead Sea, over time, the mineral content has become very high, which has resulted in a minimum of life – thus its name. But these same minerals have been attributed to do “good things.” Long before modern times it was used to soak for arthritis and other ailments. Because of the high content of magnesium chloride, it functions in many ways the same as an Epsom Salt.I can’t swear by Dead Sea Salts – but if you are looking for certified Dead Sea Salts, these actually come with certification that they are actually from the Dead Sea, the mineral content, and are fine grain.I was offered a complementary sample to test in my own bath water, and found it to be mineral smelling and a bit “earthy.” Just the kind of salt you would expect. While I personally preferred some of the other bath salts, these dissolved easily in the bath water and provided a nice “spa” experience. There was a bit of a thrill for me, a pastor, to soak in these particular salts from Israel. Nonetheless, I personally will be sticking to the Muscle Soak Bath Salts 2 Lbs which have a hint of Eucalyptus and Peppermint … We all have our loves …
Helped with itchy skin condition
I have a bad back and after a couple of back surgeries I learned a number strategies that help my back feel better. One of them is a 10 minute hot bath every night really helps feel and sleep better. Recently I decided to incorporate salts in my bath as they help various skin conditions, and I get scaly skin on my legs during the winter.San Francisco Bath Salt Company sells a large variety of different salt and I wanted to find out the difference between the different options. I found research from Maryland Medical Center which I found particularly helpful. They found that Dead Sea and Epsom salts showed beneficial effects on skin and neuromuscular conditions when applied externally by soaking baths. Both types of salts provide nourishing elements which absorb through the skin. Both showed similar benefits in their research. What is different is the actual nutrients contained in the salt. The difference is explained by the source and composition of these salts. Dead Sea mineral salts comes from the Dead Sea, a saline lake located 400 meters below sea level in Israel. Epsom Salts (the name comes from Epsom, England where they were used first) are come from a variety of natural sources. Epsom salts contain high levels of magnesium and sulfates, whereas Dead Sea mineral salts contain high levels of magnesium, potassium, calcium chloride, sodium and bromide.I found particularly interesting how Israeli physicians use Dead Sea salt. They prescribe Dead Sea salt for treatment arthritis, rheumatism, and psoriasis. To reduce eczema symptoms they combine treatment with Dead Sea water therapy with sun treatments.San Francisco Bath Salt Company also makes scented salts. This turns the treatment with salts into a bit of luxury experience. If you like LavenderLavender Bath Saltsand if you prefer mint scentMuscle Soak Bath Salts.San Francisco Bath Salt Minera Dead Sea Salt comes in a resealable plastic bag. The grains dissolve fairly easy. I use my foot to swoosh the salt around to help it dissolve. My scaly itchy legs itch less after using soaking in bath water with Minera Salt.In addition to the use in the tub, I also tried using a bit of salt as skin exfoliator. It works nicely providing a gentle scrub and massage.I received an evaluation bag of Minera Dead Sea Salt from San Francisco Bath Salt Company for evaluation and an honest review. Overall, I like the effects of adding salts to my bath and will continue to use them.Ali Julia review
Great deal, great salts
Love these sea salts for my winter bath! I use them in combination with the epsom salts – sometimes together, sometimes separately. I also put in a few drops of essential oils.
Heaven on my chapped skin
The San Francisco dead sea salt is great on several levels. First, it’s unscented, so I can soak to my hearts content without it clashing with my shampoo, soap, etc. Also, the chemicals in scented bath items sometimes leave me itching and scratching, the Dead Sea mineral salts leave me soothed and feeling fabulous. The weather we have been having is playing havoc with my skin, the heat running in the morning, the AC in the afternoon, hot, cold, dry, wet.. it’s terrible. A nice soak in the dead sea salt and I feel soothed and smoothed. The dry patches and the rough patches are calmed almost instantly. But there’s more! I can mix some of the salts with my cleanser for a gentle exfoliation. I have very dry sensitive skin and most defoliants are too harsh. I don’t look exfoliated so much as scoured and flayed, a victim of a horror movie instead of the glowing women in the commercials. More oozy that dewy. The chemicals strip my skin, so I have the choice of dull ashy dry flakes or stripped and scoured. With the Salt, I can add some to the cleanser I know I like, and get a true gentle exfoliation. No rough handling here, just a nice clean feeling that removes dead skin and actually leaves me glowing. There are two advantages to being able to use the salt this way, one is being able to use my own cleanser (dove) and know I’m not going to have a bad reaction. We also have a small master bath. Limited storage space under the sink, limited counter space, just a tub, no surround. I buy an exfoliate that promises me lovely skin, I open it, I’m greeted by a funky smell. I use it and can feel the skin peeling off my body. Do I throw it away? NO! I just spent money on it, and so I put it in the cabinet where it takes up valuable real estate. In a week I try again to see if its any better, now I can’t leave the house for two days because I look like a tragic victim of a lifetime channel movie. Now I toss it in the trash, right? Wrong, I spent a small fortune on it, back it goes into the cabinet. I reach around it, eventually it gets pushed to the back, and a year later I decide to clean the cabinet and come across all these bottles of now toxic smelling goo, and finally I toss it.But with the Salt I can have something to soak and sooth my skin, product to mix with my cleanser to exfoliate, and I can use it as a foot scrub! We are talking replacing several bottles and jars with one, and I know I like it, so it saves me time, money, and I actually do look glowing and dewy. Jim rubs my arm, before moisturizer, and says, mm.. you feel soft!Total win!Sample provided for review, but I will be continuing to buy this product. In this case the five stars that say I love it, are right on, I love it.
Leaves your skin smooth
I’ve used the epsom salts from this same company which are great for relaxing your muscles.. this dead sea salt has a bit of an odor to it, and leaves your skin feeling very smooth. It does not seem to provide the relaxation of muscles like the epsom salt does (for me, at least), but my skin feels great after using this. Would recommend.
squeaky clean skin
For years I’ve been Adovia’s loose sea salt as a facial scrub (it’s great for stressed out, sensitive skin), but the last batch was clumpy and a little oily and smelled "off" so I decided it was time to shop around. I’ve used SF Salt Company food salts and they are great, so I decided to give the Dead Sea Salts for face/body a try. These salts are WONDERFUL. They are clean, snow-white, fresh, and the grain is perfect- not so fine that they dissolve instantly, but not large enough that they scrape your skin off. And the bag is quite large- much larger than the jars I have been purchasing. It’s resealable, so I just poured some of the salt into a little plastic container and keep that in the shower. I store the rest under the cabinet, so it stays fresh. My skin feels so fresh and *clean* after using these salts. I simply mix a little with my facial cleanser, and then scrub it into my skin. The salt exfoliates and then dissolves completely, and it makes my skin smooth and squeaky clean without stripping it like harsh chemical cleaners can. It also prevents breakouts and gets rid of any dry spots.Sea Salt is great for the skin, and Dead Sea Salt seems to be the best. Forget about the other brands and the pre-made scrubs, just buy a bag of these and you’ll be set for great skin for a long time. I’m so happy!
Great healing Benefits
A great way to relax in the bath and to detox your skin as well. It dissolves nicely and has a light texture.
I have to say I was somewhat wary of bathing in sea salt as I’ve never done so before. While I have used bath salts, I thought that sea salt on its own would be very drying and irritating.I was surprised to find exactly the opposite. It felt great, in fact! Very soothing with an earthy scent that really appealed to me.I used the fine grain version, which dissolved very easily. A bit too easily, in fact, as I would have liked to use some as a scrub. It’s possible to do so with the fine grains, but I think the coarser grain version would be better suited to that. The product listing recommends a fresh water rinse after using the sea salt. I imagine that’s needed to ensure that any salt residue does not remain and act as a skin desiccant. My only quibble is the packaging for the 2 pound version. It would have been nicer to have a better type of seal on the pouch (it comes in a thick plastic pouch with a “zip lock” type of seal at the end). As such the pouch can be prone to spilling when open – at least in my clumsy hands.Very pleased with this product, and would certainly recommend it highly.[Manufacturer provided sample for review]
If you like pure and simple Dead Sea Salt without added scent then this is perfect. Nicely packaged for gift giving.
This package of Dead Sea Salt comes perfectly packaged for gift giving. It contains 1.75 lbs. or 28 oz. of pure and natural Dead Sea Salt from Israel. This salt is very fine grain and is rich in minerals. It dissolves very quickly because of the fine grain. This particular salt is unscented so it only has the light scent of the salt and minerals that it contains. You will see little dark specs in the white salt and that’s normal because it’s just little pieces of mineral. Soaking in Dead Sea salt cleanses and rejuvenates the skin. It is extremely relaxing to soak in it. The aromatic scent is very therapeutic and it softens your skin and makes you feel better. I play basketball a lot and I am often very sore afterwards. It seems to help to soak in these salts afterwards. I have also learned that it can be very beneficial if you have any type of cut, scrapes, bruises or infection. It seems to help speed up the healing process a lot. If you add a little bit of it to some hot water it will make a very good foot soak as well.Overall this is a great quality Dead Sea Salts. If I had to choose I would pick a scented salt but if you are looking for an unscented salt then it doesn’t get much better than this.Sample provided for review.
This Dead Sea Salt from San Francisco Salt Company is a nice addition to bath water. It is odor free and softens the water. I like that this salt doesn’t dry out my skin or make it itchy after long soaks. The packaging is excellent with very thick plastic and a water tight zipper lock. In the world of salts without fragrance, I like this very much.I was provided a sample for review.
I have never used anything like this before, so when I was asked to try this product I jumped at the chance. I’m glad I did.I really don’t know if my skin is sucking up the minerals or not, but I don’t care…this is one of the loveliest things I’ve used in my bath in a long time. And with the colder weather coming my skin gets very dry and flaky, my legs are especially dry and flaky just after shaving – I can see by just a few soaks that my skin has a healthier look and feel to my skin. My legs feel softer and more moisturized even without using skin cream. The aroma is reminiscent of living near the beach. I miss that smell since moving inland and this gives me a half hour of happy memories.I have tried adding this product into my regular liquid soap and have used it as a scrub instead of using a nylon net scrubbie. It really sloughs off dead skin cells and gives me a refreshing wake up in the morning, plus a nice rosy glow.
Athletes will love this!
Upon first opening this, I was wafted with an unusual aroma…..the ocean. This was very strange to me because most other salt has absolutely no aroma at all or has an incredibly fake pungent smell. What is this smell? It’s the high concentration of minerals that are in the Dead Sea that gives this salt a unique aroma that elevates the bathing experience. To be completely honest, I thought that soaking in salt was a complete joke. I have finished P90X, Insanity, and now I am starting P90X2. As anyone who has done those programs knows, your body becomes very very sore!! When I got this salt, I did not think it would work and I went into the experience expecting it not to work. After soaking for 20 minutes in a hot bath…..I WAS WRONG!!! It honestly feels like a different type of bath. For me, it felt like the water was penetrating my skin and soothing my muscles. It was the greatest feeling and immediately afterwards, I went into my bed and fell asleep. I awoke pleasantly in the morning to significantly less muscle fatigue. While this is not something that one would use every day, for those days where every muscle in your body hurts, this is an amazing remedy! This salt contains natural ingredients such as:-Magnesium-Bromide-Iodine-Potassium-Sulfur-Calcium-Sodium-ZincAlso, this is known to be a great remedy for psoriasis!!
I started adding this to my bath salt mixture and really like it, great for soaking in after a run

Great price for real dead sea salt!
With prime, this is a great deal for genuine sea salts. One can buy a huge bag and make gifts, use it for baths, use it for facials, it really can be used for endless things. Dead sea salts are such a restorative, using these twice/ three times a week can really do wonders for the skin, and the fine grain is actually a perfect size for facial use. Love it. will definitely reorder when we run low.
Oh! What relief and comfort!
Even unscented, you can smell and feel the potent minerals in this Dead Sea salt. This salt has a high, concentrated, mineral content. A soak in warm water to which this salt is added brings relief and comfort to aching feet and hands. Massage extra salt crystals into feet and hands and they will immediately feel softer. Ease your body down into a tub-full of Dead Sea salt water and you can almost feel the toxins and poisons leaching out of you. This salt does wonders for many skin irritations. And I like to have it on hand during the summer when so much skin is exposed to the elements, insects and plants. This unscented product is especially nice in the summer because it does not draw insects as fragranced products do.For an immediate pick-me-up, let a wash cloth soak up some cold solution, wring it out and drape across your neck, or wrists, or a problem skin area. Oh, so nice and cooling and refreshing!*I received a sample product from SF Salt Co.
Soothing and great for your skin
First off, San Francisco Bath Salt Company has really distinct designer packaging that keeps the moisture out but also looks really cool, making it perfect for gifts. Not this this bag will ever become a gift – a handful of salts in the bathtub has become my new relaxation routine and is a great end to a busy day. This item comes with a certificate of authenticity (yes, it’s from the Dead Sea!) and it’s creates a very soothing feeling that seems to work wonders on insect bites and any blemishes on the skin. Overall it’s a great spa product and since you don’t need to use very much, a small bag last a long time.
Best of the Bath Salts For Exfoliation
My adventures in comparing salt(s) from the San Francisco Salt Company continue. I owe the opportunity to do so to the company’s current marketing initiative but my only obligation/compensation for my efforts is a set of samples of their products and the promise to write a fair review for potential customers.I’m comparing their scented Epsom salt product with this genuine Minera Dead Sea Salt soak (unscented.) As a popular Amazon reviewer has pointed out, Dead Sea Salts have a more complex composition than Epsom salts, which are magnesium tetra hydrate (for the vast part). Your skin is exposed to more minerals with the Dead Sea product …but you don’t get the ‘aroma-therapy’ that comes with my peppermint/eucalyptus extract sample. Both products are attractively packaged and the crystals are clean and wholesome. Both products dissolve well but not instantly in bath-temperature water. Both products somehow make my water ‘softer’ or better able to clean my skin…and I tested that without using soap. The Dead Sea salts did an amazing job of helping to exfoliate my skin…in comparison to the Epsom-based soak. I did not expect to see such a difference. This is a top-class product. For therapeutic purposes, a soak will require about twelve gallons of water and about a pound of these salts and it will take at least twelve minutes of your time. Well…we are in the tub to rest and relax! Comfortably hot water at a depth that you can sink down into and get skin coverage is also, obviously, important. As with other reviewers, I found this mix in this concentration will provide some useful ‘drawing’ action to ease skin irritation from insect bites (in my case, chiggers). Thankfully, I haven’t had to test this on poison ivy or nettles! From now on, this will be my bath salt of choice. I note it is also available in scented form. I enjoyed the peppermint/eucalyptus scent in the Epsom product offered by this company but I look forward to also getting the lavender infused Minera salts for a relaxing, exfoliating soak.
Makes for a most relaxing bath
I’m reviewing the two-pound bag of fine-grained Dead Sea salt. Since my wife and I scuba-dived for twenty-five years, I was already a firm believer in the benefits of bathing in ocean water. I’ve read about the alleged therapeutic benefits of bathing in the Dead Sea, and when I searched online, I found that the water of the Dead Sea has 29% salt content, compared to 4% in the oceans. Its mineral composition is also different from ocean water, since only 12-18% of Dead Sea salt is sodium chloride; by comparison, 97% of the salt in normal ocean water is sodium chloride.Obviously, you’d have to add a lot of Dead Sea salt to your bath water to duplicate the concentration of salt in the Dead Sea. But adding a lesser amount does allow you to duplicate the various minerals found in the Dead Sea waters. I dissolved about a half-pound of the salt in a tub of warm bathwater and had a very pleasant, relaxing bath. I did this two nights in a row, and I enjoyed it very much, especially since I usually take showers instead of tub baths. I also tried a foot bath by dissolving about a quarter-cup of the Dead Sea salt in a basin filled with warm water, and my feet felt great afterward.According to what I researched online, the minerals in Dead Sea salt are absorbed while soaking, stimulating blood circulation and helping to detoxify the body. Based on my limited use of the salts so far, I can’t positively confirm that, but the results are certainly promising. The manufacturer provided a product sample to evaluate and review.
Dead Sea water has a lot of therapeutic properties because of its composition. Lots of people travel there every year just to soak in its waters. With this salt, which I got as a review sample from the importer, you can recreate the Dead Sea waters to soak in! I did a bit of research and found that the Dead Sea waters is recommended for rheumatologic conditions, skin conditions, allergies and even for flushing the sinus. Apparently the skin absorbs the minerals while soaking. So far, I’ve only been soaking my tired feet in the Dead Sea salt and it sure feels good!
