Perfect but for the smell
I’ve been using Maybelline’s Falsies for awhile now and while it does work well, I’m not 100% satisfied with it. Especially long wear, it smudges quite a lot and it does clump if I’m not careful. This Loreal Butterfly mascara was actually a whim purchase (that for once paid off). The formula is wetter than I’d like but it does apply fine. I’ve used wet formulas in the past that did virtually nothing when applied, but this is not the case this time. It applied perfectly with no clumps. The brush is a nice shape to coat the outside lashes but the bristles are pretty small. It didn’t matter, it still applied perfectly. I found that one coat was sufficient for volume and length appropriate for work. Even after an 8 hr shift, there was no smudging or migration of the mascara to my lower lash line. My only complaint is that the chemical smell is very strong, definitely something I could do without. But not enough so to dock a star. It is fast becoming my new favorite product.
Definitely going to be in regular rotation in my makeup arsenal!
Really glad that I decided to give this new mascara a try after seeing the commercial on TV. The part that really grabbed my attention and drew my interest was the unique shape of the mascara wand. The Butterfly Brush is completely different from any other mascara that I have tried, and trust me, I’ve tried them all in my ever growing search to find that perfect one.The brush comes with an asymmetrical lash line shape, which does have a small learning curve. While I was completely prepared to be let down with my purchase, I found that once I got the hang of it, it did help me to get a winged out look as advertised. The best part about it? NO CLUMPS! While it is a very wet mascara when applied, I did have to be very careful not to move or blink my eyes until it had dried completely.I used two coats and found that it gave me a nice amount of added length and thickness to my lashes and had some great staying power. This is definitely going to be in regular rotation in my makeup arsenal!
THE BEST mascara on the market!
L’Oreal’s Butterfly Lengths Mascara is now my all-time favorite. I use several different mascaras, and thought Cover Girl’s Clump Crusher was on top until I tried L’Oreal’s Butterfly Mascara this week. It lengthens and highlights your eyelashes so well that several people asked me if I’d gotten extensions!Butterfly’s strength lies in its special wand, which is perfectly shaped to the human eye. Every lash curls into its natural shape – only darkened to its maximum so that you appear to have incredibly long eyelashes. I bought the brown/black color, and will be adding the Blackest Black to my cosmetic collection.I have very sensitive eyes and skin, and experienced no burning or stinging with this product. It doesn’t flake off or smear. The price is very reasonable and you won’t find a higher-quality mascara, or experience better results, with the expensive department-store brands. L’Oreal shows why they’re a top beauty brand with this fabulous mascara.Five stars.
Accurate brush, great for under thicker mascara
I like to use this L’Oreal Paris Voluminous Butterfly (black brown) as a base coat of mascara, so to speak. The brush is perfect for separating lashes and applying a really even coat before adding a thicker mascara on top. I usually use two layers of this on my top layers and use a thicker product on top to finish and lengthen my lashes.I have noticed that after using this mascara for about 2 weeks I like it better the older the formula gets. At first it was very liquidity and now its finally settling up a bit and is thicker to the consistency that I prefer.
Waste of money
I did read the reviews n purchased it anyway.Flakes off. All day long. I had to keep removing the flakes all day. Also didn’t do anything different for the look of my lashes.I worked in cosmetics retail for most of my life n most make up artist I worked with used maybelline for their personal choice.Gave it to a friend n she say it flaked on her too!
Worst mascara to avoid dark under eye smudges
I only used this stuff twice and am disgusted with myself for even buying it. While it does give a lush look to lashes I can’t stand the mess it makes after only two hours!
My new favorite mascara
The wand is a plasticky comb not a brush. It does a great job. I’m in my 50 s and wear strong under eye cream and other mascaras smudge. This one does not. Good value.
Looks like False Eyelashes
Absolutely love this mascara. It took a long time for me to find one I liked better than Maybelline’s Lash Stiletto, but this is it. My eyelashes were fine and incredibly flared – it looked like I had false ones on. My boyfriend even noticed there was a difference (and, let’s face it, guys don’t usually notice) and remarked on how great my lashes looked. The brush takes a little getting used to, but I love it and it is far more affordable than other mascaras.>Washes off easily>Amazing length and volume – look like false lashes>Deep, rich color>Even added some curl to my lashes>Affordable>No clumping>Didn’t bother my eyesNo downsides to this one!
I am a mascara seeker! I have tried expensive mascara, and inexpensive mascara, and have never truly been that happy with most of them. This one seems better than most. It does not clump, and it does not smudge. It is not expensive. Not sure about the butterfly in the title, but it does seem to cover the smallest lashes.
From the moment I started seeing the commercials for this mascara, I knew I needed to try it. I am addicted to mascara and I’m always looking for the best of the best without paying crazy prices. This mascara is currently my go to mascara. Lately I’ve been on a kick of adding fibers to my mascara to increase the length but with this, I do not need the added fibers. I’m happy with simply two coats. If you’re on the fence about purchasing this product, take it from me that you won’t regret the purchase.
1 of my top 5
Amazing!!!! I’m a junkie when it comes to mascara. I buy 1 usually every couple wks from high brand to low. And only a couple I really make it 2 the top of my list. like Benifit’s Their Real and Too Faced Size Queen 1 of Dior’s, but I’m always on the look out for the next best thing usually I get disappointed. But not with this 1. It does not leave any dry clumps or runy racoon eyes by the end of the day, does not take forever to come off when ur washing ur face, its creamy but not 2 wet going on really gets in between the lashes, plumps and lengthens, aaannddd the best part its cheap! 5 stars all the way a must buy!
Brush is great idea, but awkward to use.
The first time I used it, I really wanted to dislike it. The brush is angled at one end to "flare out" the lashes, but it only works that way on one eye (the right eye for right handed users) and requires holding the wand at an awkward angle to do the other eye. But the formula actually does a great job of building up lush, long lashes. I am undecided on whether or not I’ll repurchase.
A must have!
This mascara gives me big beautiful lashes. No flaking, easy to remove, and no clumps. I have no problems with flaking or smudging. A must have!
When I saw the wand on this mascara, I thought it was unique and innovative. It has a flare/wing shape on the bottom, so that your outer lashes appear longer. The formula is a wetter formula, which I prefer and it works really well. The mascara makes your lashes very long and defined. It adds a bit of volume and a LOT of length. It actually does wing out the ends of your lashes, giving a "false lash" effect. I really like the fact that your lashes don’t get that crunchy, brittle feeling after the mascara dries. The packaging is really nice, and closes/snaps shut every time. I feel like it won’t dry out, unlike many popular mascaras that don’t close completely. The only issue is the smell. It’s a very very mascara smell, chemical and heavy. It’s not something I mind too much because it doesn’t last very long, but some people might be put off. I find the formula very close to Lancome’s Hypnose Drama, but the wand on this mascara is way more preferable.
Wow! Looks Almost Like I’m Wearing False Eyelashes!
After I applied this mascara for the first time, my eyes looked almost like they do when I use false eyelashes. My eyelashes are noticeably longer and thicker without clumps.I noticed some other reviewers mentioned flaking. That hasn’t been a problem for me but I rarely have that problem and I think it might be because my skin is oily. I’m in my late 40’s now. When I was in my twenties, my lashes were so long that the tips touched the bottom of my brows. Now they don’t and are a bit sparser as well so I’m loving this mascara. I’m not really wild about having to apply false lashes (the ones I buy are pretty conservative and I doubt anyone can tell they are fake) and this mascara makes it so I don’t have to.I’m left handed but pretty ambidextrous so had no problem applying this. You have to start at the base of your lashes and sweep upward, rotating the wand just a bit and I did it several times to get the look I wanted. This is now my favorite mascara possibly in large part because the wand is so unique – it has an asymmetrical shape sort of like a wing. If you don’t like the mascara, you might consider saving the wand to use with a mascara you like better. I was able to easily apply mascara to all my lashes without any smudging and sometimes that’s a bit hard to do especially if I’ve had more than one cup of coffee prior to applying my makeup.I’ve already stocked up on more of this. Hope they don’t discontinue it.
Much easier to remove than the regular Voluminous
I love the look of my lashes with the regular L’Oreal Voluminous, but I find it incredibly hard to remove. I decided to try this new Butterfly mascara, though, since it was reviewed in a recent issue of _Lucky_ magazine as a great drugstore mascara. I really like it!It does have a pretty strong chemical smell when you use it, but the smell doesn’t last on your actual lashes. The brush is easy to use, and it does create a slight fanning effect on my lashes. The brush also is made of a plastic, comb-like structure, so it helps keeps your mascara from clumping. It’s also easy to remove at night.I really like this, and will definitely be re-purchasing it!
Better than my expensive brand.
Say goodbye to paying 30.00 for the expensive brand I used to use. This stuff is AWESOME!!!! If you like a thick mascara you will love this one. My eyelahses look false. Everyone asks me where I go to have my eyelashes done. It’s nice to say it’s the mascara. I simply love this product. I hope they never discontinue it. Seems that every product that works they discontinue. Would HIGHLY recommend this product in a heart beat. Have told so many people already. Good Job L’Oreal.
My favorite mascara
Love it! Gives my lashes the big boost they need without looking clumpy. it also wears well throughout the day. it doesn’t flake off or smudge.
Simply love the wand on this mascara. It has different types of edges to allow me to get to all the tiny little lashes as well as the longer ones. it keeps clumping out of the equation. This mascara is comparable with any other and is a good value for the price.
I ordered this product because I’ve been wanting to try this since I saw it a while ago on TV. The packaging of the product makes it look appealing to me. I curled my eyelashes and applied a couple coats. The results were okay, my lashes straightened out after a while and it kinda smudges on my lower lash line. I like the angle of the brush. It’s not as good as Maybelline New York XXL 24Hr Bold Mascara in Very Black. I’m just gonna use it until it runs out.
