The best sunblock, but very expensive
I recently came from a 7 day cruise to the Western Caribbean (Honduras, Belize, and Mexico) and this sunblock worked GREAT!! It dried very fast (pro and con), but more importantly it kept me from getting burnt throughout the whole cruise. The Environmental Working Group (EWG) gave this sunscreen a 3 rating (which is a moderate hazard on a 0-10 scale). This sunscreen went by too fast because it dried too quickly and it cost a lot which knocked a star. This was the only sunscreen I could find on Amazon with a score of 3 or lower and a SPF of 50 that had very good ratings.
Elta MD is my favorite sunscreen!
Great sun protection and burn prevention. Goes on smoothly without leaving white streaks! Light and gentle on skin. I have sensitive skin that reacts to many facial moisturizers/creams/etc, this one is so gentle it doesn’t make me red. Also, numerous sunscreens are full of awful chemicals that are hormone disruptors. This one does not! The Environmental Working Group (EWG) gives it the green light. Its by far my favorite sunscreen. I use the SPF46 for face daily and this for rest of body.
really terrific sunscreen
I really love this sunscreen. There is no smell, no flaking, and it goes on smooth and creamy. A little goes a long way. Plus it has all of the right ingredients — titanium, etc. Anyway, I feel like I am protected with this sunscreen, and I live in a very sunny city. I use it faithfully each day. I can only find this product on line and Amazon is a great resource.
I usually use the EltaMD SPF 46 as daily sunprotection underneath my makeup. I wanted to get more bang for my buck (besides, SPF 50 is more than 46), and, considering the reviews decided to try it.It went on greasy and white, but soon absorbed quickly and had an almost powdery feel, which was nice. After I applied my foundation and powder it seemed a bit shiny, but I dismissed it.Coming home I noticed that my skin flaked a bit and looked more greasy, something I don’t aim for and with the EltaMD SPF 46 I don’t have that problem. Not only that, but when I applied it to my chest it broke out.Overall, it’s okay. It didn’t leave a dent in my wallet and ‘ll use it for sun protection on the rest of my body, so no harm done.
This is one of the best sunscreens I have used. It stays on during long runs and distance running. It is on a par with the Blue Lizard, Australian Sports sunscreen.Blue Lizard made me look ghostly white. This sunscreen is a higher SPF and does not give me theghost-white look. Plus it keeps my skin moist. NICE.
I burn very easily and was a little skeptical when I heard about this product. As it turns out, this is the brand my dermatologist recommends to all of her patients. I can spend many hours in the sun and water and not have to worry about going through a painful burn. This product outperforms every other brand!
Non-greasy sun protection
I love the elta MD line and use both night and day moisturizers. I wanted something with a high SPF for summer days at the beach and pool, so I figured I’d give this a shot. I love it! It goes on smooth, isn’t greasy or sticky and I got great protection. The pump can be slightly annoying for reapplications, but is convenient if you use body SPF daily, or apply at home or sink-side.
using for years!
This is the best active sport sunscreen. No sunscreen smell, stays put, give you the coverage you need- and best of all NO BREAKOUTS!
GOOD FOR THE PRICE
Fairly sheer, slightly moisturizing for normal/oily skin. Good price vs, Skinceuticals brand. I will continue to use this for a few months and will update when I have more time to asses how well it protects my skin. I really miss my Skinceuticals spf 45, which has been discontinued and was more ‘matte’ in terms of sheen, hence the 4-star rating, not 5. Why must they always ruin a good thing for me?!!!
EltaMD With Organic Octinoxate…
When I tried to find out about the ingredients of EltaMD UV Sport Broad-Spectrum SPF 50, I noticed the following claim on their Website;Active Ingredients: 9.0% Zinc oxide, 7.50% Octinoxate, 5.0% OctisalateIngredient Insights;Tocopheryl acetate (vitamin E): Antioxidant that reduces free radicals to help diminish the visible signs of agingZinc oxide: Natural mineral compound that works as a sunscreen agent by reflecting and scattering UVA and UVB raysOctinoxate: Organic compound that helps increase UV protectionInactive Ingredients: Bees Wax, Butylene Glycol, Cetyl Dimethicone, Cetyl PEG/PPG-10/1 Dimethicone, Disodium EDTA, Hexyl Laurate, Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Iodopropynyl Butylcarbamate, Isopropyl Palmitate, Octyldodecyl Neopentanoate, Polyglyceryl-4 Isostearate, Purified Water, Sodium Chloride, Tocopheryl Acetate, Triethoxycaprylylsilane. Both active and inactive ingredients are full of chemicals but why would EltaMD would try to promote a hazardous material like Octinoxate as an organic compound worth placing it on human’s biggest organ which gets absorbed and processed by the liver is an indication of EltaMD institutional values.
Super Awesome for Sports!
I do a lot of long distance cycling, 60+ miles in a day, and I only have to apply this sunscreen once during the ride. It doesn’t run into your eyes and once applied, I barely notice it’s on my face. Haven’t done makeup over it, so I couldn’t comment on how well that would work.
No doubt the best sunscreen for active users.
After trying many sunscreens for my outdoor workouts, I sweat ALOT! and most "sports" sunscreens do little to stay on my face. Most come off after a few minutes and even worse, run into my eyes and sting! I came across this one through other Amazon reviews. This is by far the best I have tried but still not perfect. This still comes off after extensive use, but does last much longer than your average "sport" sun screen. It also still runs a bit and stings just a little bit if it goes into your eyes, but it is very minimal. The other down side is that its a bit pricey.Don’t get me wrong I still highly recommend this for runners, hikers, and cyclers.
Best sublock I’ve tried
I love this sunblock! I’m going to buy a bigger size of it so I can use it all the time. I can’t really feel it when it’s on (compared to other sunblocks – you’ll definitely feel something on your skin, but that’s part of the deal with using on-skin sunblocks). It does its job really well, too. I used it for a weeklong sunny beach vacation while I was snorkeling, boating, and running around, and I barely even got a tan, which was great. This was recommended to me by a friend, and in turn, I’d recommend this to all of my friends.
This product was recommended to my daughter by her dermatologist. After a full day at the water park, the product did not have to be reapplied. While this product is expensive, it works and is more affordable at Amazon.
