Not Best Choice For Sensitive Hair/Scalp
This gave me big suds, so I was hopeful. However, I never had a SHAMPOO that felt this DRYING until now. I found myself re-shampooing in the shower as I could feel my hair start poofing up after the first shampoo. It felt somewhat better with the addition of a conditioner (even though it was loaded with drying agents) from the same line. Once out of the shower, the overall affect on my super curly, thin hair was wispy cotton…Update:Had to downgrade my reviews for this line when the skin on my arms and neck started breaking out after accumulated exposure-washing my daughter’s hair in the sink in addition to using other products from same line on myself that day. Not the best choice for sensitive hair/scalp.
It felt like I was washing my hair with hand lotion
This shampoo has a very light lather (not too many suds) and it felt like I was trying to wash my hair with hand lotion. Although I knew my hair was clean after washing with this shampoo, it just did not feel like it was clean. One positive is that smells nice but has a subtler scent than theCLEAR SCALP & HAIR BEAUTY Volumizing Root Boost Nourishing Shampoo, 12.9 Fluid Ouncewhich I use.I actually like the complementaryCLEAR SCALP & HAIR BEAUTY Moisturizing Dry Scalp Nourishing Conditioner, 12.7 Fluid Ouncebetter than this shampoo. This shampoo is defintely not for me and based on the fact that most people gave this product a positive review, I guess I’m the odd one out.POSTSCRIPT – One other complaint I have is that the bottle should be designed so that the product label can be read while it rests on its spout like theCLEAR SCALP & HAIR BEAUTY Moisturizing Dry Scalp Nourishing Conditioner, 12.7 Fluid Ounce. Basically I store the bottle flat end down so that the shampoo is always at the bottom (near the spout) and can be dispensed easily. However, when you store it this way (which is the way the conditioner bottle was designed to be stored), the writing is upside down unlike the conditioner bottle which has the product label showing correctly. This is a minor issue, however and not one I took off points for.
Heavy Floral Shampoo
The Clear brand dandruff shampoos seem to be everywhere now. They use pyrithione zinc to control dandruff, similar to other brands, but cost a bit more in my experience. If they work the same for dandruff control, then they can only differentiate themselves in fragrance, texture, and cleaning.FRAGRANCETypical dandruff shampoos smell medicinal, but not bad. More expensive shampoos often have really strong invigorating smells like mint. This shampoo (Dry Scalp), with a price between the two extremes, has a floral fragrance that reminds me of cheap children’s perfume and lingers all day. It is not terrible, but I think a simple “clean” smell would be much better. The “Clear Men” shampoos have a nicer smell, which would work well for both men and women.TEXTUREThe texture is much like lotion, but it lathers well.CLEANINGThe shampoo left my hair feeling clean, but it might be a bit heavy for some people. It reminds me of a shampoo+conditioner.OVERALLClear Scalp & Hair Dry Scalp shampoo is a good shampoo for women who have very dry hair. It would be particularly valuable during the winter. Apart from the cheap floral fragrance, I think it is a good value.
I will review this shampoo along with its conditioner, CLEAR SCALP & HAIR BEAUTY Total Care Nourishing Conditioner, 12.7 Fluid Ounces (https://www.amazon.com/gp/vine/product?ie=UTF8&asin;=B007RTR8UC).I received the shampoo, then the following week ordered the conditioner. I put up my other hair products, so as to allow these products a chance to prove themselves to me. I began using them both on Sunday; today is Wednesday. My hair has been very soft and manageable; it’s naturally curly and has been very easy to comb through after my shower. So, I would say that I was pretty happy with the results.Until this morning. Something really curious happened. When I opened the shampoo bottle and turned it upside down to pour into my hand, a liquid came out that wasn’t the shampoo. It was very watery. Yes, I’m positive that the bottle was closed yesterday and that nobody opened it. There was perhaps three tablespoons of this watery stuff before the shampoo came out.I washed my hair and reached for the conditioner – which, by the way, has its opening on the bottom of the bottle. The same thing happened! First, some type of liquid came out, then the conditioner.I’ve never had to shake a shampoo or conditioner before, so I’m not sure what happened. Either way, I won’t be using it anymore. It did a nice job, though, except for the liquid issue.
Soft and manageable
It doesn’t take much of this shampoo to get great lather—-a little goes a long way. The scent is mild and my hair is easy to work with after shampooing. Even the bottle is easy to handle!
Minimizes scalp itchiness
I picked up this shampoo because I have a very dry sensitive scalp, especially in the winter time. Typically my go-to shampoo and conditioner has beenHead & Shoulders Dry Scalp Care with Almond Oil 2-in-1 Dandruff Shampoo & Conditioner 23.7 Fluid ounce (Pack of 2). It’s not glamorous and certainly isn’t as fun as the salon shampoos I’d prefer to buy, but it’s treated my scalp well. This shampoo works equally well at keeping my scratching at bay and gives me another brand to choose from. But it’s not perfect. Compared to Head and Shoulders (and other shampoos I try) I personally find the scent overpowering. Not much scent seems to carry over to my hair, but opening it up in the shower the smell is just too much for me. It’s very floral and not that pleasant. Also, while I love the shampoo, the conditioner for me leaves a lot to be desired. It doesn’t leave my hair as soft and silky as what I am used to and at times, it’s made me feel like I forgot to use conditioner at all. While it doesn’t impact my opinions of this shampoo it does make me question whether I’ll see the full benefit of using this product as even if I continue using this shampoo I will likely switch to a different conditioner to get my silky hair back and it advertises that you see the best results by using both the shampoo and conditioner.
Super rich shampoo, great when used with matching conditioner
I have used this shampoo along with it’s matching conditioner for a while now and using the two of them together really makes a difference with my dry and itchy scalp. The shampoo is thin but super rich and I really notice the added moisture to my scalp. The shampoo feels like it has conditioner in it as well. I usually wash my hair twice with the shampoo and then I use the super thick and rich conditioner and leave in on my hair for about a minute and then rinse. My hair is left very healthy, smooth and rich with moisture. Both the shampoo and conditioner have a nice scent. I have tried a variety of different Clear Scalp shampoo and conditioners but this set is one of my favorites.
Absolutely Love this Shampoo!
I used CLEAR SCALP & HAIR BEAUTY shampoo for the first time this morning. First of all I love the scent of the shampoo clean and lovely scent. I used just a small amount and it foamed up nicely. Most importantly rinsed out completely. Hair felt squeaky clean. This most definitely will be my new favorite shampoo. Love it!
Good solution for dry hair – easy to open…too easy!
My spouse has dry hair so this was his first bottle to try out and he absolutely loves this shampoo! However – and this is a big one for me – the fragrance is VERY strong. I find it overpowering. My spouse LOVES IT and since he is the one using this particular dry hair formula, it’s okay except when he first gets out the shower. Of course, that is personal preference but if you are sensitive to fragrances, keep this in mind before purchasing the product. There was one problem with these shampoo/conditioners – about half arrived with the top open in a big yucky mess. Fortunately, Amazon had wrapped them inside the box which contained the shampoo in the plastic but otherwise, it would have been a giant mess with about 1/4 of the entire bottle squeezed out. The same issue that made them pop open in shipping does make them convenient for use in the shower.Last but not least, despite the additional of vitamins/supplements to enhance the product, I’ve been moving aware of many of the other harsh ingredients/chemicals contained in this/other shampoo’s and conditioners. I did NOT deduct a point for it because once again, that is a lifestyle related choice.Bottom Line – a good product for dry but those with sensitivities to fragrance will want to think twice.
It’s Like Shampooing with Lotion and Shampoo
lotion and mixing it with a blob of normal shampoo.I’m not crazy about the residue, but if you have a dry scalp I guess it needs to leave something behind to act as a moisturizer. As far as shampoo goes, it’s offered at a fair price. I neither dislike the product nor do I love it. It’s decent specialty shampoo.
I usually do not have an itchy, dry scalp in the spring or summer. But due to a recent medical issue and the medication I received, my scalp has been very dry, itchy, and flaky for the past couple of months. So, I decided to give CLEAR SCALP & HAIR THERAPY MOISTURIZING DRY SCALP NOURISHING SHAMPOO a try. And I am pleased to say, that after just 7 days, the itching and the dryness have vanished. YAY!CLEAR SCALP & HAIR THERAPY MOISTURIZING DRY SCALP NOURISHING SHAMPOO is rich and creamy (almost like conditioner), with a pleasant light scent. Just a very small amount makes a nice, luxurious lather which thoroughly cleans your hair and soothes your scalp and then rinses away completely, leaving no residue. CLEAR SCALP & HAIR THERAPY MOISTURIZING DRY SCALP NOURISHING SHAMPOO washes your hair and scalp without stripping away all the natural oils. Your hair is left shiny and bouncy. For me, personally, my hair (which I color about once every 2 months) looks better than it has in a long time. WITH that added benefit of no itching. And, I have also noticed that if I just let my hair dry naturally (no blow dryer) that my hair has more volume. Again…YAY!As a side note, I also appreciate that the folks who make CLEAR SCALP & HAIR THERAPY MOISTURIZING DRY SCALP NOURISHING SHAMPOO have not fallen into the trap of “lather, rinse, repeat.” Until the early 1960s, the instructions on shampoo bottles did not include the work “repeat.” That word was added by the ad men for a popular line of shampoo. They were trying to figure out how to increase sales. By the addition of that one word, “repeat,” they were able to double their client’s shampoo sales almost overnight. The other brands soon jumped on the band wagon. So, the reality is, we don’t need to “repeat;” one lathering will do. The CLEAR SCALP & HAIR THERAPY MOISTURIZING DRY SCALP NOURISHING SHAMPOO folks understand that. There is no “repeat” on their bottle. Just “lather and rinse.” I like it!Overall, I am very please with CLEAR SCALP & HAIR THERAPY MOISTURIZING DRY SCALP NOURISHING SHAMPOO, and would recommend it to anyone who has a problem with dry hair and itchy scalp.
So very pleased with the product it is my new brand.
I have health issues that make my hair fall out after large steroid treatments and the last few years it comes back different. My hair has always been fine and thin. This time it came in frizzy and like a brillo pad. Not the whole head i lose about 1/4 each time so it is a mess. I washed my hair today after swimming to really give it a challenge. It lathers well and has a soft pleasant fragrance. Rinses out easily. I used the conditioner which I will also.It comes wrapped in plastic but mine leaked out into the bag so you have to kinda was the bottle, it was nice as a hand wash nothing wasted. It did not get the box wet.I will be buying this and the price here is less than the brand I buy at the big M store. My hair is smooth and soft. Not all frizz gone but this is one use and it looks at least 75% better.
After years of struggling with Dermatologists…an easy solution!
When I hit 49 my hair started falling out and my scalp went nuts…dry, itchy, crunchy weird build-up that the dermatologists first put down to dermatitis, and then to thyroid disorder. No matter what I tried, it never improved and often got worse with treatment. Even though the derms assured me that after I got my thyroid balanced it would go away…it never did. I tried moisturizing shampoos too, but nothing worked. Then one day I saw this in a magazine ad, decided to try it, and after a couple of weeks using it I had, for the first time in years, a healthy scalp. I guess I didn’t really have anything wrong with my scalp except for a need for a shampoo that didn’t strip my skin. It’s a relief to have no flakes, no itch, and a smooth, clear scalp. Dermatologists were laughably wrong!!!
Interesting bottle shape, easy to handle and keep a hold of. The shampoo is lightly scented and lathers nicely. I’ve got thick long hair and it rinsed cleanly away, leaving no residue behind, nor did it hurt my scalp to use it.
We chose to try out the Clear Scalp & Hair shampoo to see if it’s all it claims to be. Both my wife and I have used it, and I would have to say it’s lived up to expectations. The shampoo is pretty thick, so after you’ve scrubbed it into your hair some, I would recommend getting a little more water in your hair and scrubbing some more to get a good lather going. It’s got a pleasant smell which isn’t overly “flowery” so if you’re a man you shouldn’t be scared to use it. My wife has colored hair and says that it’s been a little harsher on her color than other shampoos she has used (she usually uses Pantene). Other than that, we both think it’s a decent shampoo that is worth trying out to see if it’s right for you.
Great Shampoo! I Follow With The Conditioner!
I have dry, damaged and color treated long hair. When I seen this shampoo I was excited to give it a try hoping that it would help my hair out from all the damage that I cause it!My scalp in the summer seems to get itchy at times from the heat and the humidity. This has helped with that, the conditioner has probably helped with that as well.It lathers very well and smells nice.It rinses out clean and after I follow with theCLEAR SCALP & HAIR BEAUTY Moisturizing Dry Scalp Nourishing Conditioner, 12.7 Fluid Ouncemy hair looks and feels much better!I really like this and the price is excellent!
Pair it with Clear condition and your hair is good to go
I am using this shampoo with Clair Strong Lengths conditioner. It is mild shampoo and only a dash is needed for your hair, no matter what the hair length. It has many nourishing oils in it and makes hair feel clean and silky. In addition to oils, this shampoo also has multiple bio-nutrients; combination of minerals and vitamins will make your hair stronger and shiny.Shampoo does not have strong fragrance; it is just right. It also keeps frizz out of the way, very helpful feature for humid climate customers. Sturdy base of the product makes it stable to use and lay out in the shower. You will never make a mistake which bottle is shampoo and which one is conditioner. Shampoo label is upside down while conditioner can be read normally. Shampoo has light see true color, while conditioner has thick white color – another distinction if you are not paying attention to the lables and you just start queezing the product out of the bottle.I personally enjoy the product very much and recommend it to others. It is a kind of product that can be used by the entire family.
I don’t have a huge problem with a dry scalp, but my hair itself is very dry so I thought I would try this out. It didn’t really do anything for me. It works fine for normal cleaning, but because I have such thick, dry, frizzy hair, I didn’t see any great improvements and would not use this over my regular hair care products (Aussie). I wasn’t too fond of the scent either, but it wasn’t very strong to me so it was bearable.
I used this with the anti-dandruff shampoo
The two together worked well, stopped flaking and left my hair and scalp moist. I do have to wash my hair every two to three days with these. Salon shampoos I can wait a few more days, especially when I flat iron, so keep that in mind.
Leaves Hair soft and fluffy
Tried this shampoo and it left my hair light and fluffy. The scalp was well moisturized, and left the hair smelling nice. Will update this review for long term results
Very, very nice product
This is very nice shampoo. I have dry itchy scalp and therefore I wanted to give this product a try. Sometimes those products that treat dry scalp smell like medicine and really have nothing appealing about them. This shampoo is very luxurious. When you dispense it into your hand it has a white pearly consistency and smells very nice. Not “perfumey” just a nice clean fragrance. And it does take care of the itchy scalp with the very first use. This is a recommend to buy. Enjoy
I used this shampoo for about a week without any change. My scalp is just as dry and itchy as it was when I started using it. I gave the rest of the bottle to my mom, she seems to like it but doesn’t have a dry scalp. lol
I am enjoying this one
I had fun testing this shampoo because of its fun and fruity, with a bit of floral scent. It is a very thick shampoo, so I just used a small amount on my short, but very thick hair. And I usrd it in conjunction with the matching conditioner. After using both, my hair was “squeaky” clean, and had no heavy or greasy feel, it just felt clean. I also tested the shampoo on my skin, since it is aimed at the scalp, and was pleased with the way my skin felt afterwards. Afterwards, I did a “scent test” with my husband, and he found it pleasing.I am not a chemist, so I don’t know about the Nutrium 10 claims, but I did enjoy using it and was pleased with the results.
Nice shampoo, but bottle may not ship well
I’ve bought lots of shampoo and conditioner online and never really had any issues with leaking during transport, until this line of Clear Scalp products. The bottles themselves seem to have a high than usual leaking problem. Out of the 4 bottles I had shipped to me, 2 of them were leaking in some way. Not a lot came out, but enough to know that at some point while they were in the mail, they had started to leak some. The shampoo itself works well and as long as you wash it out thoroughly, leaves hair feeling clean. Probably works best on dry and normal hair. If your hair is particularly oily, you might find a lighter formula works better, since this is a slightly thicker and heavier shampoo. Nice shampoo, but be wary that you might find a little has leaked out during transport.
I am unfortunate enough to have dry hair, and a scalp that can start looking oily if not washed at least every other day. I really like this shampoo for the most part – it does a gentle, yet effective, job of cleansing one’s hair and smells terrific. However, this is almost *too* moisturizing for my hair! If I don’t use a cleansing shampoo about once a week, my scalp looks greasy even with daily washing. So I think this would be perfect for people that have dry hair and scalps.I was fortunate enough to receive this through Amazon Vine.
Another Great Clear Product
I have been usingCLEAR SCALP & HAIR BEAUTY Total Care Nourishing Shampoo, 12.9 Fluid Ounce, and I am very happy with it, so I bought this for my husband. Since his hair has gotten thin as he has gotten older, he has developed a dry scalp problem. He is very pleased with the results of this shampoo. This shampoo has a pleasant scent that is not overpowering, and it is reasonably priced.
Gentle On My Mind & Scalp
I was just delighted to get this shampoo and even more delighted with how wonderful, soft, flexible and supple it makes my scalp feel. It smells so fresh and it also rinses out easily. This shampoo made my hair feel fresh and clean. I love it!
Pleasant Soapy Scent
This did a nice job of getting my hair clean and it has a nice pleasant scent as well. Mostly a soapy and clean sort of smell rather than the overpowering flowery odor you get from a lot of products. I can’t say that it’s revolutionized my hair or anything, but it looks nice and feels soft so far, and my scalp is feeling pretty good as well.
Bought on accident, but still like.
I have oily hair and wanted the color treated one, which I have bought and like a lot. I don’t like to wash my hair everyday and I color it once a month so it gets oily on the tops and feels like straw on the bottom. I liked this conditioner it really made my hair soft, but not stat-icy. It smells really good too. All these products do. I didn’t notice that this particular product helped my scalp because I have been using all the products and overall the oiliness has gone down. I can go at least 4 days now without washing!
CLEAR SCALP & HAIR BEAUTY Moisturizing Dry Scalp Nourishing Shampoo
I have reviewed and sampled another shampoo from this product line and this seems almost identical. It has a white, pearl shimmer with a creamy consistency, slight fragrance. It does an ok job, but not sure about the moisturizing dry scalp nourishing properties. For the price it’s fine, a 2.5 out of 5 stars. But even though it costs more I prefer a Paul Mitchell shampoo.
