This used to be my favorite cleanser, but it doesn’t remove eye makeup
I used Cetaphil Daily Facial Cleanser to wash my face at the end of the day and remove my eye makeup, but it usually didn’t succeed in removing all of my eye makeup. I don’t know if it’s my mascara or my eyeliner that’s being so tenacious but regardless, I’d rinse the cleanser off to reveal that I still had black smudgy makeup under my lower eyelids. Like the cleanser just pushed the makeup around rather than removing it. So I’d take the extra step of washing my eyes again and still I’d have to use a Q-Tip to try and gently swipe away at the black smudges afterwards.I also figured, hey, if it’s not removing my eye makeup, how good of a job is it doing in removing my foundation makeup?I used this Daily Facial Cleanser for over 2 years, I really did give it more than a fair chance, and just this last month switched to Olay Foaming Face Wash for Sensitive Skin as it removes my eye makeup. I’m loyal to the Cetaphil brand, but this Daily cleanser just didn’t suit my needs. If you don’t wear makeup, Cetaphil Daily Facial Cleanser might work for you.
“Cheap Perfume” smell & expensive given how much you have to use
My expectations were that this would be either unscented or have a light scent; instead it has a strong unpleasant perfumy smell. I can’t imagine women liking it and I think all men will detest it.Also (and surprising to me, given that it’s not all that inexpensive) is that it seems to require far more of it than I would have thought. Comparing it to the foaming pump-bottle cleansers I’ve been using (at about the same price per ounce) this is clearly much more expensive to use.I can’t return it because there’s nothing “wrong with it” but I’m sorry I bought a 3 pack.
Best cleanser for oily/sensitive skin
I have horribly sensitive, yet oily skin. This, along with Johnson & Johnson’s Purpose–they’re almost exactly the same product–is the only cleanser that I can use. It helps cleanse away the excess oil without making the skin overly tight, preventing both irritation and breakouts. Acne-prone people should use this with a good, sightly nubby washcloth (for exfoliation) and top with your favorite acne medication (I like Acnomel, which seems to be the best full-spectrum preventative for my skin).
Its ok….If you want dry skin…
I used this product for about 2 weeks. I don’t have senstive skin and I barley if EVER break out due to any facial cleansers. But, this…Oh this product proved me VERY wrong! The first week was great. My skin felt very clean. Alittle on the dry side but still very clean. The second week I was screaming in horror. (Keep in mind I only used this ONCE a day which was in the Morning time) I woke up, used this product & went on with my day. Later to find while sitting at work my lower face by my mouth started to burn slighty. I let it go thinking it was just something strange going on. Then the burning returned. I walked to the bathroom and was a little shocked to notice I had two rather large red spots on my face. I thought maybe it was something I ate. I went on with my day telling myslef that if it got any worse I would go to the dr and get it checked out. Few hours went by I didn’t feel the burning for some time. So i figured it was nothing. After work I got home and my husband looked at me a little strange and asked me what happend. Not sure what he was talking about. He pointed to my face and said “looks like you got burned” I rushed to the nearest mirror to see the two rather large red spots were even bigger then before with dry flakey skin and white spots all over inside them. I Freaked called me dr thinking once again it was something I ate and I needed to get it looked at ASAP!! I had a wedding this up coming weekend (I was a bridesmaid) and the last thing i needed was a flaw!! Went to the drs that next morning and he told me I wasn’t allergic but that the product litterly after all did INDEED burn my skin. It over dried my face. which resulted into the nasty burns. It took litterly 2 weeks for improvement and the scars remain. they arn’t horrible by any means but it’s just a little reminder to use ONLY loiton base products in my future oily or non oily. End of story!!!!!
Effective without irritation
I have somewhat acne prone skin, so I’ve always been searching for a cleanser that would control my breakouts. I found a salicylic cleanser that worked okay and wasn’t too harsh, but didn’t do much to clear up my skin. Then I tried a benzoyl peroxide cleanser which worked well to clear my skin, but my face would be red and burning for about an hour after using it. So I thought I had either had to endure irritation to have clear skin or have a gentle cleanser that would do nothing for my blemishes. I decided to try Cetaphil, as it was recommended to me (plus, it was fairly cheap). At first I wasn’t that impressed, when I saw it didn’t foam up I was worried it wouldn’t wash all my makeup off. As I was using it, I didn’t feel it was getting my face clean. However, when I looked at my face afterwards, there wasn’t a trace of makeup (and I had been wearing a LOT of makeup). My skin wasn’t irritated at all, and it didn’t have that tight, dry feeling that I had gotten with other cleansers. So far, I’ve been using it for about 3 weeks now and my skin is almost completely clear. I will definitely continue to use it as long as it keeps my skin free of breakouts without irritation.
I like it
I’m not great at washing my face regularly… usually take care of it in the shower…and I use that Clean n’ Clear stuff there. But I’m warming to this stuff… it feels like you’re putting lotion on your face but it’s soap! I had to read the label again to make sure I’d grabbed the cleanser and not the lotion. But I like this stuff a lot… it feels so clean, cleaning, and …neutral. Maybe it’s psychological or that my dermatologist friends have it in their homes.Stuff seems a bit pricey but I liked this deal and I think it will last me a long time at the rate I use it.I figure I’m not getting any younger and being better friends with my skin now will hopefully translate into some Benjamin Button (yawn) “getting more youthful as I go along” kinda deal 😉
Doesn’t dry up my face
I use this face wash about twice a day usually. Once in the morning and once at night. I have rather sensitive skin and Cetaphil is one of the few facial cleansers that will not leave your face feeling dry like a pizza’s crust. I am comfortable with using this more than twice a day if needed although I don’t think washing your face that often is recommended. Overall, it’s a great face wash, it doesn’t cause breakouts, and leaves my face feeling clean.
Very mild and non-drying, but smells strange
I use this to remove makeup and if I feel like I need to clean my face during the day; it helps to reduce oilyness, and it’s about the only cleanser I don’t feel nervous about putting near my eyes. My mother also uses it – she’s in her late 50s and has very dry skin, and it doesn’t irritate her at all. The only thing we dislike about it is the smell – it smells very medicinal and kind of unpleasant to both of us.
great basic cleanser for sensitive skin
This cleanser feels almost like a lotion, does not lather, does not aggravate my acne prone skin, is unscented, and a great price for the volume. The no lather soap goes on and comes off easily. It does not totally remove makeup but I find most eye makeup takes a serious makeup remover and soaps never really do the trick (even the Neutrogena eye makeup soap remover is not as good as the liquid bottle version.) One of the close to truly no scent, unscented products I’ve come across (instead of a chemical scent or other strong non-perfumed smell.)Overall, a great cleanser that I would continue using myself and recommend to others.
The perfect face wash!!
I bought this after having tried out around 10 other face washes in my life.. this is the first one that is clear and doesn’t lather all over my face and dry it out when done.. it’s literally perfect.. i have normal to dry skin.. i highly recommend this product, then a toner, then facial moisturizer for the best effects
Really Great Gentle Facial Cleanser
Cetaphil is an amazing product. Our family has been using it for the longest time. It is not sudsy like ordinary soap which makes it very easy to rinse. You will not spend a lot of time just to remove that slippery feeling when using soaps. After you dry with a face towel, you will feel the difference on your skin. Oil is gone without you face feeling stretch dry. It is very gentle it was recommended before by my wife’s derma for one of my sons when he had a skin problem.
Cetaphil face wash is the best!
This product was recommended to me by my dermatologist. I have moderate acne and he prescribed a gel to put on my face after washing. The only problem was that my other cleanser wasn’t cleaning my face enough and leaving dirt and oil behind. I started using Cetaphil and my skin felt so wonderful and soft and so, so clean. I love this stuff and I don’t think I’ll ever use a different facial cleanser! Try it and you’ll notice the difference too! My dermatologist was right 🙂
