Vanicream Sunscreen, Sensitive Skin, SPF 30, 4-Ounce,

VanicreamTM Sunscreen SPF 30 is a broad spectrum sunscreen that protect your skin throughout the UVA spectrum and provide more protection than your natural sunburn protection (UVB). While all sunscreens protect your skin from the sun’s burning UVB rays, the SPF 30 sunscreen contain zinc oxide, an ingredient that offers additional protection from the UVA rays which may contribute to skin damage and premature aging of the skin. Antioxidants in the formulas help prevent damage to the skin by neutralizing free radicals produced when skin is exposed to the sun. Active Ingredients: SPF 30: titanium dioxide 5%, zinc oxide 5% Inactive ingredients: alumina, C12-15 alkyl benzoate, caprylic/capric triglyceride, cetearyl isononanoate, cetyl alcohol, isopropyl titanium triisostearate/triethoxycaprylylsilane crosspolymer, magnesium sulfate, methylpropanediol, PEG-12 dimethicone, PEG-30 dipolyhydroxystearate, phenyl trimethicone, polyethylene, polyhydroxystearic acid, purified water, sodium ascorbyl phosphate, stearyl dimethicone, tetrasodium EDTA, tocopheryl acetate, triethoxycaprylylsilane

sun block

This sun block is highly recommended by EWG as safe. It is very thick and does not blend it easily. I found another that is just as effective and safe and goes on smoother because it contains olive oil.

Awful sunscreen

I’m still searching for the perfect sunscreen but this one is awful. It’s thick and chalky. Goes on greasy and white, it’s extremely hard to rub in and seems to sit on top of the skin. I wouldn’t think of putting this on my face as it’s a greasy nasty paste that would make me break out instantly.

Great for sensitive skin BUT…

This sunscreen is great for sensitive skin. I’ve used Neutrogena all my life because of allergic responses to other sunscreens. The problem with Vanicream is that if you’ve never used their cream, you are going to find that it is quite thick and will make you look quite chalky. I also found that I could not use it on my face without using powder since it makes you look extra shiny once you’ve been able to get the white streaks out!

Again, if your skin is too sensitive or you suffer from eczema, like I do on my face, you have to be careful because this product may not work for you. It didn’t work for me. My symptoms got worst.

OK…but not great.

I live down in Florida and the sun is scorching here so I need a suncreen for my sensitive skin that really does its job well without interfering with the skin’s business.A friend recommended this product to me and I bought it at a drug store right away but I was a bit skeptical, knowing that I haven’t really found the perfect sunscreen even after trying nearly a dozen sunscreen brands. So after trying this product for a couple of weeks, here are my thoughts about it:Pros:> Adequate protection from sunburn.> Doesn’t hurt the skin.> Doesn’t clog pores.> The packaging is sleek and is small enough to be portable.Cons:> Greasy, doesn’t have a matte finish.> Not that resistant to sweating, forms white rivulets with the sweat after a period of intense heat.> Gives a white sheen upon application that is eerily visible in certain lighting conditions. (I am a bit tan and I found it quite disturbing, its like I had “wearing sunscreen” written on my forehead.)All in all, I wouldn’t recommend this product to anyone, despite the pros. I just didn’t like it.

Sensitive Skin Sunblock

This is a nice alternative to the oily sunblocks out there on the market. Sure, it doesn’t have the scent of coconut oil, but some of us are allergic to that anyway. So, this is a nice sunblock for us sensitive skin types and it is oil-free and non-irritating, not to mention non-comedogenic. Basically, you can use this on your face and it won’t block your pores. This cream seems really rich and creamy and then suddenly it just disappears into your skin and feels very light and not oily.Highly recommended for when you are out and about in the sun this summer!~The Rebecca Review

Great sunscreen although a bit expensive

While most sunscreens these days protect against sunburn, did you know that very few of them actually protect against photodamage? Only two sunscreen ingredients protect against the long UVAI rays that cause photodamage (brown spots, wrinkles, etc); zinc oxide and Parsol 1789. Zinc Oxide protects a broader range of these rays than does Parsol 1789.This Skinceuticals sunscreen has zinc oxide and it goes on without any white film or greasiness-perfect for daily use on the face. While Neutrogena Dry Touch suncreens feel more invisible on the skin (you can’t even tell it is on except for the smell) and is a good alternative (has Parsol 1789), I still prefer the Skinceuticals for the added protection and virtually no scent whatsoever. Since it’s expensive, I tend to use it just on the face and use a cheaper (like Neutrogena) sunscreen on the body when out in the sun.

EXCELLENT SUNSCREEN

This is the absolute best sunscreen I’ve used. Just right for African-American skin too as it does not leave that milky-white cast on your face; unless of course you use to much. I have medium complexion, so the key is a little bit goes a long way for the best coverage. I had darkening spot damage from over-expoxsure on driver’s side of my face. My dermatologist recommended I use this and after a while the skintone has evened out and now my face has continued protection. Use in year-round!

Natural, Soothing Lotion with SPF 15 – Yay!

Soooo soothing! As with most Burt’s Bees products, this is free of sulfates, parabens, pthalates and petrochemicals. You can’t really tell from the picture, but it does have royal jelly, like the rest of the Radiance line. Not a strong scent – maybe just a hint of honey and floral, but nothing overpowering. The active ingredients for the SPF facotr are titanium dioxide and zinc oxide. It comes in a glass bottle (recyclable) with a pump. Awesome stuff! I use in conjunction with Burt’s Bees – Burt’s Bees Radiance Night Creme, 2 oz cream and I feel like my skin imperfections heal quickly and my overall tone is improved.

Somewhat Disappointed

I have extremely sensitive skin and was recommended this Burt Bees Radiance Day Lotion to use as a face sun screen as Burt’s Bees tends to be a line that caters to sensitive skin people by using (almost) all natural products. Unfortunately, I did not have a good experience with it. First of all, it feels extremely oily when you put it on. After rubbing it into my face, I noticed that I looked considerably oily. I figured this would wear off after a little bit of time, but it remained that way which I did not care for. Also, it has a noticeable sunscreen smell to it. I was thinking that this would have a little less of a scent to it and smell more like their normal radiance lotion but it smelled distinctly like sunscreen. For someone who does not particularly enjoy this scent or for someone who is very sensitive to scented lotions, this is problematic. The scent made my eyes water. Additionally, I noticed that after wearing this sunscreen for 3 or 4 days I started to breakout along my jaw line and T-zone. After I stopped applying the sunscreen, I noticed that it went away. I will say that it does its job in protecting you from a sunburn. I only applied once a day and I noticed that even though I was outside for about 6 hours on a particularly sunny day, I did not get a sunburn. However, for people that are sensitive to scents and heavy lotions, you may be better served with a more hypoallergenic sunscreen than this one.

so far so good

I bought this because I am trying to use more natural products. I haven’t used this lotion very long (a couple of weeks) but it is light and absorbs very quickly. It doesn’t really smell like anything and seems to be a good base under my makeup. My skin stays properly moisturized throughout the day, without getting too oily or dry anywhere. If it keeps working like this, I am giving up my old moisturizer for this one!

When traveling light these are great for sunscreen touch ups.

I bought these for some work-related ‘short-term travel’–for the most part when outside I’m pretty covered up due to malaria risks, but the face/hands/neck regions remain exposed. Before leaving for the day I do apply my DEET layer, then my sunscreen layer and then utilize these for touch ups throughout the day. Compared to tubes/cans these are so much easier to stick in nooks/crannies of my clothes or backpack.I would not rely on these for a full body protection or a day at the beach, but for localized touch ups in a convenient package these are fantastic.HIGHLY recommended!JTG

powerfu little package

I have a couple of these little packages tucked all over; in my purse, car, lunch box, etc. I purchased a box last year to carry with me on the 3 DAY-60 Mile Susan G Komen Walk for the Cure; 20 miles a day in the bright Texas sun and I did not get burned. I did find that I could do face, neck, arms and legs with one towlette. Only drawback for me is that your hands are a bit slick right after you use, so depending upon what you are doing, you’ll need to wipe them off. They are great for training outside, too. As you perspire, you can easily re-apply sunscreen with out carrying around a bigger tube of product.

I used to love it but not anymore.

I used Blue lizard maybe 5 years ago (different formula; it never gave me any trouble). With summer coming around I need a reliable sunblock and I thought I’d try this based on the fact that it worked in the past for me and it has pretty great overall reviews.Admittedly my skin is very fair, ultra sensitive, and acne prone. This TRASHED my face. I was really surprised too, since I didn’t see any of the other reviewers complaining about breakouts. So disappointing. I really wish they’d never changed the formula. I guess I’ll use it up on my arms–the search continues.

Less greasy feeling than the normal Blue Lizzard

As someone who is violently allergic to the chemical sunscreen ingredients, but paperwhite pale, this type of sunscreen is a Godsend. The face version soaks in immediately and leaves only the faintest hint that you used anything on your face. It works really well under makeup (foundation type or mineral), too. 5 ounces goes a long way, and it seems decently sweat proof for hot summer days.

Works well, if you can get the dual pump to work

I initially was angry about this product. It took me a good 5 or 6 wasted pumps of the sunscreen to get the moisturizer to come out with it. It tells you in various places to tap the bottle on a hard surface if it doesn’t start pumping with both. That led me to believe it was a common issue. But once I got over the wasted couple tablespoons of product, I do really like this. It’s doesn’t leave you shiny and sinks in easily. It’s oil free and non-comedogenic(won’t clog pores). Very light fragrance, nothing overpowering or noticeable. Does not leave a white-cast like some sunscreen infused products can. It does seem to pill up a little(when you go back over the area you lotioned a couple minutes later, it rolls up into a little ball), and thats never good. But despite that I do still like this product and will use it. But those two major issues – the pump and pilling lead me to give it 3 stars.I was specifically looking for something at least 30 SPF with UVA/UVB protection, because otherwise, it’s barely worth it. I think it’s important to wear sunscreen daily as I am fair with freckles(which keep getting darker and producing little freckle babies) so it’s a must. I also have sensitive, skin with hormonal breakouts, and my skin hasn’t become angry… we’ve got happy skin here. Also, please don’t forget to apply to the back of your hands, neck and chest area! Nothing worse then a pretty ageless face with spotted, wrinkly hands and chest.Lastly, just for some technical info. It says PABA free on the box. Had no clue what this meant. After some research, I found PABA is para-aminobenzoic acid and has been discontinued from use in sunscreen products due to allergic skin reactions in some people. Some other important sunscreen info if you’re interested:What is the difference between a SPF 15 and a SPF 30 plus? A SPF 15 sunscreen absorbs about 93% of the UV, which means it lets 7% of the UV through into the skin. A SPF 30 sunscreen lets about 3.5% of the UV through. This means a SPF 30 sunscreen reduces by half the amount of UV getting through to the skin. However, you should still re-apply a SPF30 sunscreen product every two hours, just like you do a SPF 15 sunscreen product. What do UVA and UVB mean? UVA are the long wave ultraviolet rays (from 320-400nm). UVA rays can penetrate to the deeper layers of the skin and produce delayed effects leading to accelerated skin aging. UVB are the shorter wavelength rays (from 280-320nm) which can produce immediate burning of the outer layer of skin, leading to sunburn in the short term and skin cancer in the longer term.

Ugh…Not what I expected…

Having used other products in the Biore Skin Preservation line, I expected that same level of awesomeness…What I got was a moisturizer that left my skin feeling less moisturized than Biore’s Hard Day’s Night Overnight Moisturizer. The Hard Day’s Night Moisturizer really does what it says it does, but this Dual Fusion Moisturizer didn’t come anywhere close. First you have to make sure that you’re getting both the moisturizer & the sunscreen out of the bottle, & if you can, try to get more moisturizer than the sunscreen because the sunscreen is white & flaky, & both of them combined leaves you skin feeling slightly moisturized. Unfortunately, the flaky texture of the sunscreen doesn’t really penetrate the skin & it leaves white particles on the skin’s surface, making your face look dry. This just didn’t work as well as I’d hoped. I’d rather apply a separate sunscreen that I know penetrates the skin & then apply Biore’s Overnight Moisturizer on top.

Turned me white, and didn’t work.

I was looking for a drugstore mineral sunscreen (no oxybenzone) and found this one. It turned me white and didn’t rub in (I’m asian) and then when I sweated, the white showed up even more. I could’ve dealt with that, because it’s just doing it’s job by providing a protective layer on my skin, but I got more burned, had red bumps (pimples?) on my chest and back, and even after I showered, I could still smell and feel the product on me.

Works Well!

I was sent some Coppertone for both kids and babies; which is perfect because Jace is 6 months and Sophia is 6 years old. I love that these are both tear free and have an SPF of 50. The higher the SPF, the higher the protection. With how dangerous sun rays are having a good protection for my children is important to me. As far as the scent goes it smells like your typical sunscreen, but not quite as strong. So it’s pretty close to fragrance free, but not 100% free of fragrance I guess is the best way to put it. The sunscreen lotion comes out of the bottle easily, and appears similar in texture and viscosity to your average chemical sunscreen lotion. Water Babies Pure & Simple sunscreen does take a little extra rubbing to apply, and is a tad "chalky" to spread onto your skin. Depending upon how much you rub, there may still be a tinge of a white, ghostly appearance, but this did not bother me. Water Babies Pure & Simple sunscreen dries on your skin after application, and does not leave a "sticky" or "greasy" feeling, as is the case with some physical block sunscreens. As far as having any dry skin, I did not notice this. Also, It was not obvious that Water Babies Pure & Simple sunscreen is water resistant, as is visually apparent with some of the other physical sun blocks I have tested. With other water resistant physical block sunscreens, water has beaded on our skin, which did not occur with Water Babies Pure & Simple sunscreen. I am not suggesting the sunscreen is not water resistant like it claims, but merely that I was unable to confirm their claims in any visual manner. This sunscreen has been tested by the EWG and they rate it well because it protects the skin like it is suppose to, many sunscreens do not. It does absorb, but it takes about 20 minutes. Overall I think both lotions are great. We followed the directions and while we did still tan, no burns occurred; and I’m the type to burn easily.

Babyganics Mineral-Based Sunscreen 50 SPF, On-The-Go 2-Ounce Tube

Our Baby-Safe Standards Baby-safe is how we create, test, and improve our products. Between idea and reality we talk to parents, doctors, regulatory experts and scientists. We learn what we should and shouldn’t do to make it safe and great. How does or doesn’t the product feel and smell? How does it work and why? What ingredients will make it better? What which are unsafe or unnecessary? How can we can make it easy or fun and economical to use? We test and refine it. And once it’s on the shelf it’s never off our radar. We review ingredients, the latest studies, listen to your feedback and we’re on the lookout for new and better ways to improve performance or safety. Just like our babies we never sleep. Our Do’s and Our Don’ts It goes without saying (but we’ll say it anyway) we don’t use toxic or harmful ingredients. But there’s no generally accepted standard for “natural” and “safe” so we’ve come up with our own. All our ingredients are vetted by experts as safe to use around babies. Our “never use” ingredients come from Natural Product Standards, EU and US lists of ingredients to avoid (parabens, phthalates, known toxins, endocrine disruptors, carcinogens, etc.). Then the real parent test: “Is this something we’d confidently use around or on our own babies?” If it’s on the shelf, the answer is “Yes”. In the end, the best way for all of us to help babies develop and thrive is to focus on the ‘yes’s’. How can we add value to you and your baby’s world? How can we better nourish, protect, soothe, or clean? The answers are in ingredients like NeoNourish and Orange Blossom in our night time formulas to relax your baby. It’s in soothing, calming ingredients like Colloidal Oatmeal, Olive Oil, Shea Butter, Aloe and Vitamin E. Our ‘do’s’ mean our products aren’t just safe, they’re gentle, nourishing, moisturizing, cleansing, soothing, rash-reducing, healing, stain-removing, grease-cutting, clean-rinsing, broad spectrum, super-protective, absorbent, and a really good value. So remember the ‘don’ts’. But don’t forget the ‘do’s. Our Testing If it’s on the shelf, our products have brilliantly passed more tests than an Ivy League PhD. We test every product and ingredient for safety and efficacy (Does it rinse? Clean? Protect? Moisturize? Heal?) and our preservatives (Will it last, resist contamination and is it safe?). We test for skin irritation (Human Repeat Insult Patch Testing if you want to get all technical) and eye irritation. We do SPF, Water Resistance & Broad Spectrum tests for our sun care products and Stability and Micro Contamination tests on all our formulas. That’s the short list. If you want to satisfy your inner chemistry nerd call our toll free number. Plenty of geeks on our end are standing by to talk! NeoNourish As part of our ongoing commitment to add ‘yes’s’ to our products we’ve created an ingredient blend that’s special enough to get its own little shout out. This 100% natural, cold-pressed seed oil blend is specifically made for the unique needs of babies’ ‘work in progress’ skin. It’s a combination of oils from the seeds of Black Cumin, Tomato, Sunflower, Cranberry and Red Raspberry. They’re specially balanced to supplement your baby’s natural skin defenses against the environment. You’ll find it in our products that come in the most direct contact with your baby’s skin. From lotions to bath products and even in our diapers. (Heck, we’re tempted to put it all over ourselves.). NeoNourish means Babyganics sun care is also skin care Made to protect and nourish your baby’s ‘work in progress’ skin 100% natural, cold-pressed seed oil blend Black Cumin, Tomato, Sunflower, Cranberry and Red Raspberry Specially balanced to supplement your baby’s skin defenses against the environment (beyond the sun!)

Like the small size multi-pack

Cons:-1. I admit that this is a bit pasty. But that is due to using natural zinc oxide for sun protection. If I take small amount and rub it in it gets absorbed fine. Fragrance free3. Water resistent for more than an hour.I like the smaller 2oz multi pack option. Usually my big containers get caulky after some time. Easy application and non-whitening but quite oily

Here is the list of ingredients as it states on the bottle of the sunscreen I have:Active Ingredients: Zinc Oxide: 19%Inactive Ingredients: Aloe Vera (Aloe Barbadensis) Gel, Bladderwrack (Fucus Vesiculosus) Extract, Caprylic/capric triglycerides, Caprylyl Glycol, Cucumber (Cucumis Sativus) Extract, d-alpha Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Grapefruit (Citrus Grandis) Seed Extract, Jojoba Oil, Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate (Vitamin C), Sea Kelp (Macrocystis Pyrifera)Extract, Sunflower (Helianthus Annuus) Oil.PROS:It spreads easily and clear. It does not cake on the skin. Will not leave dry white patches no matter how much you put. Very forgiving for skin that has dry patches or is peeling from acne medications.Does not cause or contribute to increased acne.Helps to spread other dry sunscreens that you might use on your face.CONS:It is quite oily, so oily that you can easily wipe it off and you will be unprotected from the sun just as easily. If you are used to seeing at least a little bit of whiteness as you spread a natural sunscreen, this spreads very oily clear so it is harder to be sure if you are being protected from the sun. Makes me wonder if they are using nano-zinc in this? The bottle label does not state that is non-nano zinc. The spray of the bottle can get clogged after a while and not function well. Making you have to unscrew the top to pour it out or transfer it to another bottle.Possible solution for oily face:What you can do is put this on then put another type of drier sunscreen (the cream version of All Terrain is quite dry) on top to help dry the oily residue and to ensure it stays in place so you are protected while at the same time the oiliness of this sunscreen will help to spread the dry sunscreen.

Great Natural Spray-On Sunscreen!

We were so excited to find the All Terrain sunscreen spray on Amazon- its hard to find in stores! We read about it on one of the EWG websites and decided to give it a try. It took a while for it to arrive but was really worth the wait. Just spray it on and it rubs right in. It is a little greasy, so make sure to have hand wipes around if you are out and about to clean it off (and don’t get it on clothes). My kids are both impatient and very fair-skinned so this was perfect for our hot, sunny, Mid-Atlantic outdoor play. It really does last a long time and did not come off in the pool. Its a bit on the pricy side, but a lot of the “natural” or “organic” sun blocks usually are since they are not as common. The smell is not bad either, kind of neutral.Get it while it lasts since its really, really hard to find in stores…

Not only is it cheaper then our usual go to brand, but it works for Mom and Dad too. I’ve been putting a dab of this under my makeup and it doesn’t give me a ghostly white appearance and has zero smell. The ingredients are natural so there are no parabans or 50 billion syllable chemical compounds that I have to Google to make sure it won’t give my kids a 3rd eye in 20 years. It goes on evenly and doesn’t feel thick or gluey and I feel like my skin can actually breath. Plus with it being easier to apply, my squirmy toddler is done that much quicker, which makes the entire process a heck of a lot easier. I’ve already ordered the spray version of this as well and I can’t wait until it comes too. Our niblets have super sensitive skin so I’m glad we have a way to protect them without the risk of a rash later.
