Glycolic acid peels have been the leader in advanced skin treatments around the world for many years. These facial peels come in different concentrations varying from 10% to 80%. Glycolic acid is perhaps the best-known of a group of chemicals called fruit acids or alpha-hydroxy acids (AHA). AHA provides an excellent way to penetrate the surface of the skin, resulting in drastic improvements of the skins appearance and feel. Glycolic acid works as a facial peel as an exfoliating agent because of its high acidity and easy solubility. Glycolic Acid seeps under the damaged upper layers of skin and destroys the ‘glue’ which holds dead skin to the surface. As this dead skin is chemically released, the other ingredients carry the individual flakes away and a water rinse neutralizes the remaining acid. The result of a facial peel is a much-smoother skin surface and a more youthful appearance. A secondary benefit is glycolic acid’s ability to draw moisturizers into the newly-exfoliated skin surface. Alpha hydroxy acids are an entire family of acids, which can be derived from fruit, milk or sugar. These are most widely used in skin care products as an anti-aging agent. Try it once and you instantly see and feel the results! BE CAREFUL!I was lucky to have the baking soda water ready. Within a mine my skin started to melt and bubble. It was scary and awful . DO NOT USE THIS! I was lucky to have everything ready. I do not think this should be sold to the public ike this. I did not know enough about it, and my research was not vast enough. I should have known much more. It was terrible and the stress reaction I had because of this had me sick for days. It was very scary and left my skin blistered and awful. It has since healed, but was not worth it. This is something that could damage your face badly! Please leave this to professionals. DO not try this at home. This percent is WAY TOO STRONG too. Scary that this can be purchased online. It says superficial peel, not so much! I don’t think people really understand how dangerous this is.

I don’t understand why my face isn’t peeling? It burns like hell as I suffer thru the 2 mins. Then to top it off my face looks no different. I hate the brush and purchased a different one on Amazon.
Ethel Allendale, IL
I have used many brands of glycolic peels bought from Amazon. This brand gives you a decent peel with extra supplies. I wash my face with regular face wash first, then I use the glycolic face wash which is more like a cream cleanser that I let sit on my face for about a minute before rinsing off and using the toner. The brush is useless, I use it to apply highlighting powder and bronzer makeup. If you use the brush it will streak and not apply the peel evenly. Just use the guaze that comes with it, I cut one pad in half and use 1/2 for the toner and another half for the peel solution. One thing that I’ve noticed is that this peel feels like it has a higher burning sensation then other peels I’ve used. Even the glycolic unbuffered 70 percent peel doesn’t sting my face as much on application as this one. That being said the results are just below the results from similar products, bit with this you get more. Great for people who are now beginning peels or intermediate peel users. Just be prepared for the stinging. this stinging usually goes away once you’ve washed it off however.

The product arrived on time for starters. It smells wonderful, doesn’t sting and seems to help clear up my skin fast. I will be buying more of this.

I have been using this about 6 months and I don’t use it every day. I use it about 3 to 4 times per week and it really helps keep my skin clear. I have had a lot less breakouts since using.

Gly-Sal 10-2 Pads are medicated with 10% pure glycolic acid and 2% salicylic acid to effectively unclog pores, eliminate dead skin and gently exfoliate. Combined with witch hazel, these medicated pads deliver astringent and toning benefits, promoting glowing, clear skin.
- Glycolix Elite Gly-Sal 10-2 Pads are medicated with 10% pure glycolic acid and 2% salicylic acid to effectively unclog pores, eliminate dead skin and gently exfoliate.
- Combined with witch hazel, these medicated pads deliver astringent and toning benefits, promoting glowing, clear skin.
- Saturated pads specially formulated to help cleanse and clear acne-prone skin.
Ok this is a follow up to my earlier review of glycolix elite products. I started with the 5-2, then went up to the 20%, and now sticking with the 10-2. Here’s why: the 2% salicylic acid is really what gets at acne, not the glycolic acid. The glycolic acid is GREAT (glycolic acid is my friend 🙂 for reducing fine lines, shrinking pores incredibly, smoothing and resurfacing skin. But for acne–salicylic acid is the trick. SO….10-2 for daily use….AND for a periodic mini peel at home I use 40% glycolic acid from MUAC (follow their instructions). That combo works for me. Read up on peels though before you do any at home. MUACs website and customer service is great and very informative.

Do you want acetone on your face? I don’t want it on mine. Yet I had it on my face when I used this product. I didn’t know there was nail polish remover in it when I ordered this product, and admittedly I had used the product a few times before I even really looked at the ingredients. If I’d noticed it before opening them I could have sent these back. It’s towards the end of the ingredients list but I think it was the cause of a bad reaction I had to this product. My skin broke out in these tiny tiny bumps all over- not pimples but more like an itchy, non-red heat rash. Since I wasn’t using anything else containing any acids or harsh ingredients at or around that time, it’s pretty clear that Glycolix was the culprit. I kept using it because I thought this was one of those “it’ll get worse before it gets better” deals, but no. My skin cleared up about a week after I stopped using this stuff, and there were no benefits whatsoever that I could perceive to make up for my bad experience. After researching acetone in facial products, I couldn’t find any mentions of benefits that could be gained from it, unless of course you have nail polish on your face. It’s a skin irritant and I can’t understand why Glycolix would use it in their products. As you might have guessed, I do not recommend Glycolix.

Easy to use, not too rough on my sensitive skin, yet seems to be very effective at eliminating/preventing blemishes, and also seems to make my skin glow, which is always a plus. The pads aren’t drying either.

I love the Peter Thomas Roth 10% glycolc acid moisturizer lotion. I use that regularly. So, a year ago I purchased this thinking that I would like it as a serum. Nope. It feels sticky on my face and does not have the “working” feel that the moisturizer has. It’s a pass for me.
Hester Rimrock, AZ
I just started using this and it’s been a miracle worker….my large pores have almost diminished and my skin feels smoother..I’m waiting to see if it helps with discoloration and acne scars…will keep everyone posted.

After spending over $40,000 (yes) for prescription products at plastic surgeons’ offices and hundreds of over the counter products, I have to say that this gentle peel does what it says! The first time I used it, I didn’t listen and put it on my lips and left it on for like an hour. Shame on me! My lips burned and peeled, but my face didn’t suffer. Now, I use it for the designated time and after applying it from forehead to chest, I leave it on for 10 minutes. As a 46-year-old woman, I can see how it wouldn’t be needed for someone in their 20’s at all, but over 40, this works! My face is tighter all over (I do put it directly under my eyes and eyelids cause I don’t follow ALL the directions), and it’s lighter, like I used a hyperpigmentation cream (none of those work). The results last only a couple days, and you are supposed to use this once a week to achieve solid results. I use it the day before or even the day of a special outing or event, so my face is tight and smooth, and your makeup will go on nicely. From all the products out there, this one is by far #1 on my list for quick, effective peels without burning or peeling, and you can go out right after you use it! I look awake, refreshed, tighter, and my chest area looks smoother and lighter as well. When your read all these reviews, some don’t tell their age. If you are over 40, I highly recommend this product for a woman or man! For the price compared to doctor’s office products and some over-the-counter products that don’t work, this is one month’s worth of peels, and it’s well worth the cost!

This is a 30% glycolic peel, which is difficult to find outside of a dermatologist office. 30% is considered a higher concentration (especially for an in-home peel), and individuals that are not accustom to using glycolic peels will probably experience peeling or redness of some kind. I did not have any of these issues and was very happy with the results.Once a month I seem to breakout with a few zits. When I time the application of this peel correctly, I can avoid my prolonged breakouts all together. My skin tone is noticeably more even a day or so after application, and after the fourth application-my skin is still becoming more even. I have noticed my pores appear to slightly smaller and less clogged for a few days after application. I do not have many wrinkles but I do have a few line lines-none of had any noticeable reduction after using the four applications. The product naturally warms as you spread it on your face, and for some can sting a little. Because of the high concentration of glycolic acid, make sure to follow instructions and not leave it on longer than recommended. Right after using this product-do not use a retinoid. I am not a doctor-but from personal experience I can tell you skin will have irritation and may burn a little when an retinoid is applied right after.Overall I recommend this product to everyone because it has helped with my acne and with a more even skin tone.Skin type: oily, somewhat pigmented, a few fine lines, acne prone, 20-something

I received one application of this Brazilian Peel as a sample from Sephora, and Oh. MY. GOD. This stuff is amazing! It kind of freaked me out at first, because you mix it in the palm of your hand, and then this stuff turns fiery hot and you’re supposed to spread it all over your face. But I did, and it worked! (Who knew boiling acid could be so good for your skin?!) I was amazed by the results. My skin has never been this smooth. I look freaking amazing, if I do say so myself. I SO want to buy more of this, but it’s ridiculously expensive so I’m not sure if I’ll splurge. Maybe in a few more years…

Glycolic acid (a.k.a. alpha hydroxy acid – AHA) powerfully exfoliates and helps bring new skin cells to the surface, which helps the complexion appear smoother. This 10% glycolic acid is pharmaceutical grade and completely non-comedogenic. It goes on clear and spreads easily. AHA+ also contains licochalcone, a licorice root extract which helps calm acne-prone skin. It is fragrance-free and dye-free. For the face: From Dan: “I have always kept some glycolic acid around as a secret weapon. This is how I describe what it does: The Acne.org Regimen (acne.org/regimen) will get you completely clear. Adding in glycolic acid will take clear to ‘perfect.'” When to start with AHA+: Perform The Acne.org Regimen for a month before starting with AHA+. When you are ready to use it, you can either replace your nightly moisturizer with AHA+ 2-3 times a week or dispense 1/2 AHA+ and 1/2 moisturizer into your palm, mix, and apply every evening. You should notice your skin looking better and more even-toned and will undoubtedly get some compliments. For the body: AHA+ works alongside Acne.org Treatment (benzoyl peroxide – 2.5%) to completely clear body acne. See The Acne.org Body Regimen (acne.org/body) for instructions. As a spot treatment: If you see a zit forming, apply 2.5% benzoyl peroxide and allow it to dry. Then apply AHA+. Many people find that this prevents the zit from maturing. This works best is if you catch it very early. To combat irritation: When anything rubs against the skin repeatedly, such as a chin strap or helmet, it irritates the skin and can cause a breakout. Attempt to avoid or reduce irritation when possible. However, if you do end up irritating your skin, try applying AHA+ after your next Regimen application. This can help prevent an irritation-induced acne flare up.
- Contains a full 10% of pharmaceutical grade glycolic acid, the most that can be found over-the-counter.
- Intensely hydrating. Powerfully exfoliating. Improves skin texture and leaves complexion visibly smoother.
- Ultra-light feeling lotion spreads easily and leaves no stickiness. Fragrance & dye-free.
- Also contains licochalcone, a licorice root extract which powerfully calms acne-prone skin.
- Formulated by Acne.org founder Dan Kern.
I used a very similar product in the past, Jan Marini Factor A+ lotion, w/ good results; but after time it caused more problems than it was worth. I would get reactive pimples around my chin, so I discontinued it’s use. Six months later, acne returned b/c my skin was not turning over as quickly b/c of aging. I have since added this to my routine, along w/ the cleanser and BP; and I am very happy w/ the quick results. So far, no reactive pimples. I also like this in a tube rather than pump, b/c I can control how much is dispensed.I must mention that I am not using it exactly as prescribed. I started using the AHA at the beginning of the regimen, b/c I am already very accustom to AHA. Prior to this I was using Jan Marini Bioglycolic wash, which I had to eliminate since that would be excessive chemical exfoliation. I also found that applying BP prior to adding moisturizer was too irritating for me. My current routine is first DK cleanser, then Moisturize (Decleor Iris Night Balm), add a light layer of DK’s AHA all over, then spot w/ DK’s BP to trouble areas. No irritation, only results.
Ella Rumsey, KY
As a huge fan of Dan Kern’s benzoyl peroxide gel for acne, I got this AHA to add to my face routine, but then found it made no difference to my face. BUT, it’s great for those annoying red bumps on the outer side of my upper arms, which I’ve learned are called keratosis pilaris and affect up to 50% of the world’s population. After 5 days of using it once a day on my upper arms, the red bumps that I’ve had since I was born are 75% gone. Wow! Other AHA-containing creams are way more expensive than this, so this is a great deal. Once again you create awesomeness, Dan Kern!
Tamara Stem, NC
I am 50+ year old with oily acne prone skin. So, I gave this and the benzoyl peroxide treatment a try (so many other have failed). Behold, my face looks better and better, very smooth to the touch and the plugged pores are few and far between. The calming effect of the licorice in it is noticeable. Generous size lasts a long time, too. I am nicer to my face now. Wish I had this years ago, but the acne scarring is diminishing over time with this. One tip I learned I will pass along – B vitamins causes breakout in some people, it does on me.

Glycolic Acid has long been a first line product of the finest spas and Dermatology offices for improving the skin. For those of you who have heard the term “Lunch Time Peel”, this is the chemical used for i.Now you can do these peels at home safely and with fantastic results. Each 1 fl oz (30 ml) bottle of Skin Obsession’s 30% Glycolic Acid Peel will yield approximately 8-10 peels done at 3-4 week intervals, a potential savings of $733.00-$5000.00!. After peeling your skin will be feel softer, look smoother, with improved texture and tone and reduced hyperpigmentation (sun damage). Under the skin collagen is forming to plump up fine lines and smooth scars. With a peel of this strength, a full course of peels (8-10 peels) are needed to see optimal results. Glycolic Acid is a naturally occurring chemical belonging to the Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA) family. This important AHA is the smallest of the fruit acids and is able to penetrate the skin, allowing it to effectively dissolve the “glue” that holds dead cells on the surface of the skin. The dead skin cells are what cause a dull, uneven skin tone, and the blocking of pores leading to blackheads and acne. This dissolving action of the Glycolic Acid allows the dead cells to slough off. Our 30% Glycolic Acid Peel is a mild glycolic acid peel and is suitable for all skin types and both beginning and experienced peelers. There may be some redness right after the peel, but generally there is not much if any actual peeling (hence the name Lunch Time Peel, you can go right back to work after you have it done). The 30% is very safe when used as directed, but is a strong, professional strength peel (pH 2) and should be used only as directed. As with all products, a patch test is recommended to see how your skin reacts to the peel. By purchasing this product, you assume all risk associated with its use and are responsible for all results either intended or unintended from using this product.
- Easy to use home peel
- Smooths fine lines and acne scars
- Evens out skin tone to give a brighter, more youthful complexion

My skin issues: I’m in my mid twenties and my main skin concern is getting rid of scaring left behind by acne and unclogging my congested pores. I don’t have a huge problem with acne anymore – only clogged pores, a few black heads and the occasional cystic pimple (which of course are the ones that scar :/). I had issues with hyper-pigmentation and even a few “ice pick” scars from past breakouts that were really bringing me down. I felt that even without the acne I was still using a lot of makeup to cover up my scars and my skin just never really looked good even though the acne was under control. I started using products to help with the scarring and it helped, but eventually I worked up the courage to look into something a little stronger than just creams. I did a lot of research (and I do mean A LOT) before finally breaking down and getting this. Man am I glad I did!Pros: Where do I even start? This peel has completely transformed my skin. I’ve used it once a week for about a month now (which, I would just like to point out, is aggressive and not recommended) and my skin looks totally different…that’s no exaggeration. First, it has completely unclogged my pores; no blackhead, whiteheads or little bumps, so my skin looks super smooth. Second, the two deep scars on my cheek have risen a bit so they aren’t as deep and dramatic looking. With a little makeup, they are hardly noticeable. It also dramatically brightened my skin and evened out the tone so now I have that “glowing/fresh” complexion I’ve been wanting for so long. Also, all of my other products seem to work much more effectively now that I’ve used this peel – I don’t know how to explain it, but I use salicylic acid here and there as well as some other moisturizers and I no longer feel like either products are just sitting on my face. Everything seems to absorb better and I don’t have to use much to see the same results. My skin is softer, looks more plump and I haven’t had 1 blemish since using this….not 1! I can’t believe how something so simple has transformed my skin. It’s amazing!Cons: None…absolutely none.A word of caution: This is a chemical and if used improperly, it can cause serious problems on your skin. Read the instructions carefully, patch-test, and make sure that you have the neutralizer mixed before applying this just in case you need to take it off immediately. Be warned, it tingles and can become uncomfortable. I usually leave it on for 6 minutes max and then take it off. The first time I used it I experienced some redness around my chin and jaw that lasted for a day or so, but that hasn’t happened since. Do your homework, know what you’re getting yourself into and if you have doubts, see a licensed esthetician or dermatologist and get their advice on what is best for your skin before going ahead and doing it yourself. All that being said, I never EVER want to be without this product. Now that my skin is in better condition, I will probably start using it once a month (as recommended) and hopefully it will continue to improve. I’m SOOO glad I found this. I have never been more impressed with any other product! This stuff is just great.
Kristin Sheridan, WY
i have done chemical peels in medical offices for years and decided to order this and give it a try at home. the instructions that came with it were great and it works just like the stuff you get in the office for a fraction of the price!
Neva Conestoga, PA
I have had peels in spas but I had never done one at home. My skin is very tough and not the least bit sensitive but I started with the 30 percent just to be on the safe side. The results were great and the instructions are easy to follow. The peel was not strong enough for my tough skin so I ordered the 50 percent from the same seller. Will use this one for maintenance. The results from this one were great so I can’t wait to see the results from the stronger one. This one is great if you have sensitive skin or are just starting with at home peels. Can’t beat the price.

I FIRST HAD GOTTEN A SAMPLE OF THIS CLEANSER WHEN I’D ORDERED AN ACID PEAL SOLUTION. I LOVE IT THEN SO I PURCHASED THE LARGER BOTTLE. IT KINDA STINGS A LITTLE WHEN YOU USE IT, BUT I LIKE THAT. I KNOW ITS WORKING. IT DOESN’T SUDS UP SO I MIX A LITTLE FOAMING FACIAL CLEANSER WITH IT. MY SKIN LOOKS BETTER, MORE EVEN AND PORES ARE SMALLER. I AM NOT SURE IF MY FINE LINES ARE GETTING ANY BETTER YET, BUT ITS ONLY BEEN A WEEK OR TWO.A LITTLE GOES A LONG WAY AND THE BOTTLE SHOULD LAST A WHILE. ( I SAY “SHOULD” BECAUSE UNDER NORMAL CIRCUMSTANCES IT “SHOULD” LAST, HOWEVER I HAVE AN 18 MONTH OLD IN MY HOUSE AND THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A NORMAL CIRCUMSTANCE. SHE GOT INTO MY BATHROOM AND EMPTIED HALF THE BOTTLE ON THE FLOOR BECAUSE…..WELL IT JUST MAKES SENCE RIGHT?)

As a lady with sensitive skin, I was looking for a cleanser that would take care of dark spots. I have noticed a clearing up of my skin (face/arms) within the first week of use. Since it is 15% Glycolic Acid, it was suggested by a professional makeup artist that I use this every-other-day or risk a thinning of my upper dermis and risk of sun damage. This seemed wise and realistic. So just within three uses over one week, I have noticed a positive difference in my skin. It has lightened those dark spots considerably. As my natural sloughing off of dead skin is aided by this product, I see clear new skin coming up from beneath. The name of this product says it all. I was pleased with the rapid shipping and minimal packaging. One more thing: Just a little goes a long, long way.

Glycolic acid is perhaps the best-known of a group of chemicals called fruit acids or alpha-hydroxy acids (AHA). It is derived from sugar cane, so it can be considered a natural product. Citric acid from oranges and other citrus fruits also fall under the same classification as glycolic acid. Glycolic acid works as an exfoliating agent because of its high acidity but easy solubility. Glycolic Acid goes under the damaged upper layers of skin and destroys the ‘glue’ which holds dead skin to the surface. As this dead skin is chemically burned off, the other ingredients carry the individual flakes away and a water rinse neutralizes the remaining acid. The result is a much-smoother skin surface and a more youthful appearance. A secondary benefit is glycolic acid’s ability to draw moisturizers into the newly-exfoliated skin surface.

I have tried other brands of the pumpkin and glycolic mask for more than double the price of this one and since I had never heard of this brand I was a bit skeptical…BUT…this pumpkin and glycolic mask works just as good as the others and for a much more resonable price. I’ve used it several times over a few months. The ingredients are recognizable to me and when I opened the jar initially I was surprised to see that the product really did look like pumpkin puree and not some lab simulated crap…I’ll be coming back for more and to satisfy my mask addiction. Make sure you follow the directions when using any product, especially one with acid in it and especially on your face. Also, I received a free brush with my mask, however, the bristles didn’t seem strong enough to pick up the mask with. Oh well, it was a nice gesture on IQ’s end and I’ll find something to do with it.
Madeline Dingmans Ferry, PA
this is the best mask I have ever used! usually when I use a mask is clogs my pores even more because there so creamy and made out of unnatural chemicals. this mask doesn’t clog my pores at all it actually makes them less visible. when i first got it, it looked like fresh pumpkin puree and it smells like it too, i wash my face with warm water and soap before i apply this product then i put a thin layer all over my face thats all you need! it does have a tingle burning sensation when you put it on but don’t be worried your face will not get irritated that means the acid in the mask is working. i leave it on before i go take a shower and i let the shower steam penetrate my face to get the mask deep in my pores and i give myself a facial massage while rubbing it off. trust me my complexion is glowing!! my skin has never been so even and clear it dries up acne and removes the scars this is my holy grail mask. i might want to purchase there other pumpkin mask which has a higher glycolic acid of 12% by far this product works for skin type (combination, dry in the winter, oily in the summer) my skin just looks normal and glowing i love it! you need to try this it works and for the price you won’t go wrong it last along time too considering your just putting on a thin layer

Glycolic Acid is a superficial peeling agent that is made from sugar cane. It is often considered the most active and beneficial of the Alpha-Hydroxy-Acids (AHA). Glycolic/35 works beneath the skin to stimulate collagen and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Working below the surface there is generally very little visible peeling with the Glycolic/35. With repetitive and continuous use, improvement to skin tone and texture occurs. Once inside the skin’s cell, glycolic acid will serve as a catalyst for the formation of new collagen which will reduce the appearance of wrinkles on the skin’s surface. Glycolic acid has been proven to be very effective in the treatment of hyperpigmentation, melasma, actinic keratosis, acne, and oily skin, as well as other cosmetic uses. Choosing the Best Peel: Skin Laboratory offers different types of chemical peels to help with things like exfoliating the skin and smoothing fine lines and wrinkles. If you are looking for the BEST peel for your condition, the following list will help you select it. This stuff sucks. It didn’t help me with anything. It caused my skin to be very oily and break out.

First off, Skin Laboratory is a wonderful company to work with….very quick shipment, packaged well, love the detailed instructions that come along. The results…..Whoa! My nose has been bothering me a great deal….those darn blackheads…..my pores have been enlarging…….I’ve tried other products to fight these symptoms, Dr. Perricone and Dr. Denese….both have good products but This Peel is solving the problem and fast too. Loving it! I have dry skin so I ordered and just received Skin Lab’s lactic acid which is recommended for dryer skin. But glad I started with this formula for a boost and the lactic will hopefully maintain. Go for it ladies. FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS! This is potent stuff if you haven’t used anything like it before. Go slow. I had a peel done in my dr’s office a few years back and knew what to expect…..by the way, that simple peel was $125.00.
