I used nothing but Palmer’s cocoa butter lotion on my belly for my first pregnancy. Post-birth, my tummy was as sexy as ever. For some ungodly reason (I blame pregnancy hormones, and the name of the product, since my husband calls me “Mama Bee” and I thought it was adorable), halfway through my second pregnancy I switched from Palmer’s to this. TOTAL FAIL. I gained less weight than I gained during my first pregnancy, and yet just a week after starting to use the Mama Bee Belly I started BREAKING OUT into small stretch marks near my belly button. I immediately switched back but the damage was done. Gone is my beautiful stretch-mark-less belly, and the (admittedly small) stretch marks are here to stay. I hate that I switched products; if you find something that works for you, STICK WITH IT.

I really like this cream. I’m not nor every will be preggo. But I do have dry skin. Particularly I like that is has no offensive scent. It goes on well, isn’t too greasy, absorbs nicely, and my skin felt great after. I do think it is too expensive. I wish BB had a different brand packaging for the same product. Many men in my life would love this if only it came in bottle form under a different label. THe lack of scent alone is brilliant!
Brenda Goldendale, WA
I get horrible dry patches (eczema?) during pregnancy, and I use this ALL OVER my body, not just my belly. My regular oatmeal lotion just can’t touch it! I also use their sugar scrub several times a week. The combination is the only thing that keeps me from shredding my skin due to the itch.

Why do we filter it? Raw Unrefined Shea Butter is shipped from Africa full of impurities and broken shells etc. We Systematically clean most of it, we pack it well and we sell it as such. However 10% of all the impurities cannot be removed unless we melt the Shea Butter at a controlled temperature. Then We mechanically filter it, add shea oil to it to increase the ratio of the fatty acids then restore it to its solid state through a process we ( Organic Herbal Essence ) mastered in our Lab so that the final product is nevrer grainy nor brittle but rather soft and creamy. Please Note that Shea Butter hardens in cool temperature and softens when slightly heated. The filtered shea butter is much superior at the unfiltered one although both are RAW AND UNREFINED, it also saves time and money since the filtered Shea butter is ready for use right away.
- •Shea Butter very creamy, clean and Soft
- •Ready to use right away
- •Organic Grade A
- •Freshly made, shelf life 2 years
- •Please make sure the product contains the SaaQin logo and product label
This product is greasy and grainy. It does melt after rubbing it into your hands for a few seconds. The product came in a container that wasn’t sealed properly it is bright yellow and from what I understand from researching the description of what real unrefined organic shea butter is suppose to look like the color should NOT be yellow. There is a sticker on the container that says 100% authetic organic but I DON’T THINK SO!! Will not be ordering this product again from this seller! NO WAY!

I purchased this product after my family continued to have ongoing issues with dry skin and hair. After reading about all of the benefits shea butter had to offer, I decided to purchase it. I chose this vendor due to the overwhelmingly positive responses. This product was a good substitute for the petrolatum, lanolin, and mineral oil based products were we using in my household. However, the positive affects began to wear off after about a month of use. I noticed dry areas returning for myself, my daughter, and my husband. I did more research to figure out what the issue might be.The real issue is that this product is not pure, organic, unrefined shea butter. It has been filtered, and refined. Additionally, some type of oil has been added to it. Oil, in most cases, does not moisturize. The molecules in oils are too large to permeate skin and hair shafts so they usually just sit on the surface. Shea butter is an emollient. It has sealing abilities as well as moisturizing abilities. Therefore, adding oils and refining it reduces its effectiveness.I would recommend only using this product in place of vaseline or some other non-moisturizing product. If you are looking for all of the REAL benefits of shea butter, purchase from a fair trade, certified organic website that guarantees unrefined, organic, un-tampered with shea butter.

Authentic Organic African Shea Butter Filtered & Creamy is so amazing. I melt it in the microwave for 20 sec. It looked like rich heavy liquid gold. I couldn’t believe the texture. It was heavy, thick, and rich. Nothing like the fake shea butter they have out on the market. It smelled like medicine. I never seen or touched shea butter so pure and rich before. This is a great deal for the price.

…hair, face, lips, feet, cuticles. Doesn’t smell all that nice but the smell goes away. Can be really greasy. Used for my very dry cracking wintered lips and they are back to normal. I use every night on my feet and they are no longer dry and callused

I love the using product for body but, too strong for my family’s face (also gives a greasy affect). P.s. great for the rough bodily parts, knees, elbows and even better for feet. Bought bigger tub than usual to share w/best friend. It also lasts for months at a time even w/the smaller tub.

Ok listen, this isn’t what many of us are used to.. But once you scoop a lil up with you finger and let the warmth of your hands rubbing together melt it and you smooth it on and rub it in you will be hooked! Your skin willingly will absorb this product and retain its effect! I love it! I will never go to another skin softener!I have enjoyed several products from this seller! I’m a buyer for life on this product and the dudu osun line..The seller was kind and swift in answering questions I had about the product!

The smell, the consistency are both great. The fact that there are no animal ingredients and that this product is not tested on animals is even better. I love this body wash, it is moisturizing and does clean your skin well without drying it out. I use it after I shave to try and replenish some of the moisture shaving removes from the skin.
Sondra Big Run, PA
I could have guessed just from the consistency that it would do less moisturizing than I thought it would. It has that pearly look of a shampoo to it. None the less I gave it a try. I am glad I got the travel sized bottle. I don’t think I’ll be buying any more of it. The smell was like that akin to aveeno. Neither masculine or feminine. Pleasant. Wouldn’t lather up well at all compared to Oil of Olay wash, and I thought that would mean more moisture possibly. I used maybe a whole ounce out of the 3 ounce bottle in one shower. Granted I wasn’t using a loofa. But Oil of Olay requires less product for the surface area.I feel slightly itchy, and my skin is somewhat tight. Not what I expected from the world renowned ‘shea butter’. Bravo for sodium laureleth sulfate. It will continue to strip the skin of natural moisturizers in an instant. But somehow Oil of Olay Winter Retreat body wash (vanilla) – which is now discontinued-perfected the recipe at least for MY skin type.I would look elsewhere. Though this is very close to aveeno and MUCH cheaper, I guess I need something more creamy, and less pearlescent looking.
Janell Fulton, KS
My Mom has tried other body washes, however many of those brands for some reason cause itching perhaps their formulation or fragrance conflicts with my Mom’s particular skin type. Regardless, my Mom is happiest with St Ives and she believes that the Oatmeal as an exfoliator and Shea Butter as a moisturizer is a great combination she really enjoys as her personal shower escape. Mom’s happy, so are we.

Badger Healing Balm is great for cracked and dry hands, elbows, heels, and feet. Soothes windburn, scratches, and scrapes. Ingredients include, organic extra virgin olive oil, castor oil, beeswax, aloe vera extract, and essential oil of sweet birch.
- Badger is anorganic salve for your cracked, chapped, rough, weathered and dry skin. This is the stuff you want with you if you are lost in some vast, uncharted wilderness. It has the mild scent of Sweet Birch and Wintergreen Oils, which have been traditionally used as an antiseptic, a muscle rub, and to ease the occasional symptoms of skin problems like psoriasis and eczema. Badger Balm is tough enough to soothe rough, dry skin, but gentle enough to use every day.
The facts are:With Badger Balm, product ingredients vary, even though most of their products are created with the intention of offering skin moisture, healing and protection.Depending on what Badger Balm item you choose- you may find it to meet CRUELTY FREE standards- and then, maybe not. While this Healing Balm is wonderful( as are many of their products), if you are concerned about the use of beeswax(which many people actually do have a concern over)- you may want to pass on certain products made by them or the company itself. This is an individual decision. Review the ingredients.I feel confident, that if the company excluded beeswax from their list of ingredients- the performance of their products would not suffer from the lack of it.Since I have not purchased and tested all their merchandise I can’t offer you as much info as I would like.
Isabelle Johnson, NE
It made my hands smell so manly. I could’t get enough on my hands or get it to go in my hands. It makes my hands shiny and greasy but still feeling not moisturized. My hands were covered in a thin layer of it just sitting on top. From all the great reviews i thought it’d be wonderful but I was so wrong. It could work for others! My skin could just be an exception.
Paulette Regina, NM
Ok, ok…I’ll admit it. I’m a convert. Looking back I am able to see how silly I was – but at the time, purchasing Badger Balm just seemed…unnecessary. Like a luxury. Why pay for Badger Balm when I can use olive oil to work with metal clay (PMC) and use lotion to condition my skin the rest of the time? I would rather spend those bucks on more PMC!Or so I thought until I took the plunge and bought some Badger Balm. In my defense, olive oil is cheap. And readily available. And easy to use. And natural, so it’s safe for kids and those with allergies. And a little goes a long way. But…BUT…those things said, there just isn’t any comparison with Badger Balm. Talk about a little going a long way? Hello! Badger Balm has that covered. The smell? A light, fresh scent – nothing overpowering or stinky. It isn’t greasy. Don’t get me wrong – it does kind of “coat” your hands, but it doesn’t leave your skin feeling greasy – or like you’re helpless. You can still open jars with Badger Balm on…not so easy with regular lotion, impossible with olive oil slathered all over your digits!Badger Balm easily coats your PMC tools and work surface – without leaving everything “slickery”, if ya know what I mean. It also seems to be a good skin conditioner in general – I finally remembered to put some on my feet when I went to bed – and it helped to soften the skin. I can see how using it on a regular basis could easily eliminate dry, cracked heels. (Not that mine were that bad, mind you.) This is the perfect moisturizer to throw in your purse. So here’s the low down: I would buy this again. Especially since it seems the 2 oz pot I bought will last a very long time. I like this much better than olive oil for use with PMC. I’m not sure how it stacks up against regular lotion – since I live in a very dry climate, I’m a lotionaholic. Badger Balm takes up less space, won’t spill if you’re traveling, and like I previously said, doesn’t leave your hands all lotiony. Or perfumey. (I’m using a lot of my own words…sorry!) However, I have a hard time remembering to use it instead of lotion. The price seems reasonable – especially since it lasts for so long. I think it’s a good thing to keep around – which is definitely true for those needing a good release agent for PMC…however, I don’t see it replacing my lotion anytime soon. To be totally honest, I’m not sure I see a huge difference between Badger Balm and Bag Balm – except the Badger Balm seems to be lighter. I would love it if someone would please explain why Badger Balm is better than Bag Balm (for use with PMC) – and how it’s different. (I don’t believe either is water soluble.) Anyway, you now have the skinny on Badger Balm and how it relates to olive oil, PMC and lotion…and even a bonus question about Badger Balm vs Bag Balm. Try it – I think you’ll like it.

Most local health food/beauty stores want almost 20$ a pound for these butters. Glad to find it so reasonably priced and to get both in a combo is great! It came sealed in a plastic bag, would’ve like to see it in a tub, but that’s just preference.
Lolita Buhl, ID
I am not familiar with shea butter, so I don’t know how to tell if this is great quality or not, but it feels nice…maybe a little sticky at first but smooths right in the skin. The cocoa butter smells just like a dark chocolate bar and feels so good! I bought these for use in body butters, but will probably use the cocoa butter on its own as well.
Loraine Malden Bridge, NY
The cocoa smells great and both are perfect to use as moisturizers. The regular body heat melts them as you rub them on, or you can put them in the bath.

St. Ives makes a fantastic lotion. I buy this when the lotion I usually use isn’t on sale. The price is right and the lotion does this trick especially on very dry skin. It is a little greasy so I never use this on my hands, but as body lotions go, this is a good one! I love the shea butter scent!
Edythe Tarboro, NC
St. Ives Body Lotion with oatmeal and shea butter is fine for everyday use, but it doesn’t seem (for me) to be sufficient enough for those times that you are fighting extremely dry and painfully itchy skin. For that, I recommend Eucerin, which is a bit pricey — but magical in effectiveness.I generally adore St. Ives products, and this one is really no exception. The price is really low, the smell is lovely, and it is a nice, light hand and body lotion. Once the winter hits, I have pump bottles of lotion in every room of my house. This St. Ives formula is always one of them! Highly recommended unless you need something with almost medicinal qualities.

And best of all, he likes it. He doesn’t find the fragrance overpowering and enjoys the non greasy and soft feeling and most of all; its keeping his skin nicely conditioned. If Dad’s enjoying St Ives, I’m happy he found a product he likes.

The Top 10 Uses of Shea Butter Moisturizer for dry skin Eczema cream Blemish cream For softer smoother skin For burns Wrinkle reduction cream Moisturizer for dry hair Shaving cream Anti-itch cream Stretch mark prevention cream The Shelf Life of Shea Butter The shelf life of Shea butter is 18-24 months when kept in a cool dry place. After that time the healing properties of Shea butter are less effective but it is still a good moisturizer. Application of the Shea Butter Shea butter melts at body temperature. For easy application warm Shea butter onto palms until it is completely melted and smooth on. Shea Butter absorbs quickly, penetrates deeply and coats the skin with a fine film; thereby diminishing water loss and leaving the skin softened and protected. The Amazing Properties of Shea Butter Shea butter is the best natural product to protect, heal and improve skin. It is prized because it contains a real cocktail of elements good for the skin. Among these, is first a very high content of Essential Fatty Acids, more than in all other vegetable butter. These fatty acids are oleic, stearic, linoleic and palmitic acid. They play a very important moisturizing, softening, and anti-inflammatory role, and help renew the cutaneous cells. Shea butter also contains vitamins A, D, E, and K that have a recognized effect against skin aging. It is also rich in phytosterols with protecting and regenerating virtues. The manufacturing process has a great influence on the properties and efficiency of Shea butter. If it is refined or processed, it loses its vitamins and part of its efficiency. The Organic Shea Butter Company brings you a handmade certified organic Shea butter that is a guarantee of purity and higher quality.

Shea butter is high in unsaponifiables, making it great for healing eczema, burns, rashes, wounds & more. Stigmasterol in Shea butter helps relieve muscle tension, arthritis & rheumatism.
- BEST SHEA OIL IN THE MARKET – CREAMY GOLDEN YELLOW – Semi liquid and silky consistency. Not all shea butter is the same! East African shea butter oil or nilotica shea butter oil is softer and more nutrient-rich than traditional African shea butter oil from the vitellaria paradoxa. It’s so rare that only Slice of Nature sells it!
- ORGANIC USDA & ECOCERT CERTIFIED & COLD PRESSED – We start with certified organic shea that is ethically sourced and keep it that way by never adding preservatives, chemicals, fragrances or any other additives! Cruelty-free, sulfate-free and gluten-free, too!
- HYDRATE, SOFTEN & SOOTHE SKIN ALL OVER Use as a shea butter lotion for your face to moisturize without clogging your pores. Try it as a shea butter hand cream to soften your cuticles and soothe chapping. Slather it on as a shea body butter for moisturizing, soothing sunburn and promoting skin healing
- HEAL SKIN CONDITIONS – Use it as dry skin moisturizer, psoriasis treatment, eczema treatment, stretch mark cream, sooth hives, irritated skin, bruise cream, chapped lips
- MOISTURIZE & SEAL HAIR Use Slice of Nature as a shea butter for hair to keep ends in the best of health and for deep conditioning treatments. Great for African American natural hairstyles, scalp eczema & psoriasis and hair plagued by styling damage, dandruff, brittle hair, split ends etc. A LITTLE GOES A LONG WAY!
Im not too fond of the smell but this product is great!! Like the description says, the natural smell disappears. I was afraid to put this product on my face but I have been for quite some time and I have not broken out at all. It moisturizes the skin and makes it soft and supple to the touch. It has also started to even out my skin tone.I use this product every night in the place of my normal moisturizer and it works great. If I apply too much I just blot my face with a bath cloth to get the excess. My skin has never looked so good. You’ll see the benefits almost immediately.
Camille Elgin, TN
I love this product but the availability can be sketchy. Aside from that, it absorbs wonderfully into the skin, and my skin stays hydrated the entire day. I like Nilotica Shea Butter better for skin applications versus West African Shea butter due to the lighter texture and ease of use.
Arlene Greycliff, MT
i love the fact that it’s in oil form. it doesn’t glide well so i have to rub in small areas at a time is a bit time consuming. otherwise, i feel “greasy” if i use a lot to cover whole arm or whole leg. the smell isn’t great but it’s not offensive. the moisture does last a long time.
