I got a free sample of this product and liked it enough to buy it. Overall my skin is in good condition and I have taken it for granted, doing minimal things to keep it up with cleansing and moisturizing. Lately I’ve seen bigger pores and a texture to my skin I didn’t like. Even after carefully cleaning my face, this product will stlll remove more dirt which is impressive. It has helped diminish pore size on my nose and overall improved the clarity of my skin making it look clean and fresh. They do not include enough micro pads with the product but you can buy extras at the drug store – not as good as what’s in the box but they work fine. I was hoping it would lighten age spots on my face but it has not done anything to improve that. I have sensitive skin and have to be careful what I use as some products have made my face looked burned. This product is gentle and overall I am pleased with the results.

I really like using this with the Dr. Dennis Gross extra strength alpha beta peel. Within days of starting the combo, I could see a difference and so could others. In fact, I recently stopped it for about 2 months and the change in my appearance was noticeable. Glad to be using it again!
Mavis Greenbank, WA
I found this did not absorb into my skin as well as some of the other serums I’ve tried. I didn’t see any benefit from using it unfortunately – will not buy this again.

Being a big do it yourself person, I decided to try skin peels. I have not used this, but once as I am doing alot of other things as well and dont want to kill my skin. This is nice because it comes with a good prep cleanser than gets the peeling process going and then is finished off with the salicylic acid. I recommend gel form or buffered form. I think it hurts less and gel is easier to handle. Just read the instructions and be cautious. Also I keep baking soda and water nearby for quick neutralization if I need it.

OK, let me start out with the fact that i am a 44 yo and i’ve been getting regular facials since I can remember. In recent years I have started to get peels (ie hibiscus peels, obagi blue peels and a variety of acid peels). As I got older I realized the value in these things. Most were painful and had a dramatic "peel" period after that took up to 7 days. Don’t get me wrong, it was usually worth it as peeling back dead layers of skin always look great. When I moved away from my long trust facialist she recommended this product. I am now only able to get back "home" once a quarter and although I need more help than that but refuse to go to someone else (i’m a creature of habit). If you are like me you are skeptical about any product like this, but her recommendation was taken very seriously.First let me say that you need to buy a fan brush in conjunction with this purchuse in order to get an even application. Also, this stuff will ruin a good gel manicure so it also helps avoid getting this stuff on your hands or nails. If you don’t like pain then resign to being ugly for the rest of your life. Everything we go through to be beautiful has a level of pain (even plucking your eyebrows), but it’s up to you to determine what level you’re willing to take it to. Don’t wear good clothes or have anything that you don’t want ruined around just in case you drip some of this stuff…remember,it’s acid!!!The directions are easy. Put it on with the brush, wait a few minutes and use warm to cold water to get it off. Easy right. I use this product 2x per week, but never leave it on more than 30 to 45 seconds. This is a personal preference as I just want to stimulate the skin to shed not burn things off. Honestly, this works great and keeps that "tired" look at bay.At 75 per facial I am thanking my lucky stars I found this product. I get all I need between seeing my facialist, with fantastic results at a bargain price.Who doesn’t like that??

I personally love the Salicylic Gel alot. It does a very good job of removing dead skin on my forehead, nose and chin. I have normal-dry-slightly sensitive skin so i only let it on my face for 30-50 sec. If you have sensitive skin please avoid the cheek and nostril areas. The face wash is a little too drying for me though, i would recommended something less consistent if you have dry skin.

Glycolic acid peels have been the leader in advanced skin treatments around the world for many years. These facial peels come in different concentrations varying from 10% to 80%. Glycolic acid is perhaps the best-known of a group of chemicals called fruit acids or alpha-hydroxy acids (AHA). AHA provides an excellent way to penetrate the surface of the skin, resulting in drastic improvements of the skins appearance and feel. Glycolic acid works as a facial peel as an exfoliating agent because of its high acidity and easy solubility. Glycolic Acid seeps under the damaged upper layers of skin and destroys the ‘glue’ which holds dead skin to the surface. As this dead skin is chemically released, the other ingredients carry the individual flakes away and a water rinse neutralizes the remaining acid. The result of a facial peel is a much-smoother skin surface and a more youthful appearance. A secondary benefit is glycolic acid’s ability to draw moisturizers into the newly-exfoliated skin surface. Alpha hydroxy acids are an entire family of acids, which can be derived from fruit, milk or sugar. These are most widely used in skin care products as an anti-aging agent. Try it once and you instantly see and feel the results! BE CAREFUL!I was lucky to have the baking soda water ready. Within a mine my skin started to melt and bubble. It was scary and awful . DO NOT USE THIS! I was lucky to have everything ready. I do not think this should be sold to the public ike this. I did not know enough about it, and my research was not vast enough. I should have known much more. It was terrible and the stress reaction I had because of this had me sick for days. It was very scary and left my skin blistered and awful. It has since healed, but was not worth it. This is something that could damage your face badly! Please leave this to professionals. DO not try this at home. This percent is WAY TOO STRONG too. Scary that this can be purchased online. It says superficial peel, not so much! I don’t think people really understand how dangerous this is.

I don’t understand why my face isn’t peeling? It burns like hell as I suffer thru the 2 mins. Then to top it off my face looks no different. I hate the brush and purchased a different one on Amazon.
Ethel Allendale, IL
I have used many brands of glycolic peels bought from Amazon. This brand gives you a decent peel with extra supplies. I wash my face with regular face wash first, then I use the glycolic face wash which is more like a cream cleanser that I let sit on my face for about a minute before rinsing off and using the toner. The brush is useless, I use it to apply highlighting powder and bronzer makeup. If you use the brush it will streak and not apply the peel evenly. Just use the guaze that comes with it, I cut one pad in half and use 1/2 for the toner and another half for the peel solution. One thing that I’ve noticed is that this peel feels like it has a higher burning sensation then other peels I’ve used. Even the glycolic unbuffered 70 percent peel doesn’t sting my face as much on application as this one. That being said the results are just below the results from similar products, bit with this you get more. Great for people who are now beginning peels or intermediate peel users. Just be prepared for the stinging. this stinging usually goes away once you’ve washed it off however.

Lactic Acid has been beneficial in improving dry skin, treating age spots, decreasing facial lines, and rejuvenating the skin’s surface. Dermatologists and estheticians have been utilizing glycolic acid as an effective and proven tool in the fight against the aging process. Benefits Of Lactic Acid Peels: Fine lines and wrinkles Sun-damaged skin Dull, dry complexion Uneven skin tone Sun/age spots Hyper-pigmentation Large pores Blackheads/whiteheads Acne Acne Scarring
- · Lactic Acid is a thorough exfoliator, removing the outer layers of thickened or damaged skin, leaving a smoother and healthier appearance.
- · Lactic is one of the Alpha Hydroxy acids (fruit acids). Fruit acids are nontoxic, naturally occurring substances, and are found in a variety of fruits, such as grapes, apples and sugar cane.
- · Lactic Acid is a naturally occurring human metabolite, there is less potential for allergic reaction with this type of acid peel.
Haven’t had a chance to try this yet, still a little scared …. but as for everything else, I can’t complain. Packaged nicely, with what seems to be very good instructions.
Marla Keokee, VA
Ok pun’s set aside. I had been rebuffed by not one but 3 different dermatologists over the past 15 years when I wanted something done about sun damage to my face, arms and legs. Especially the two large spots on one calf. One gave me an expensive laser treatment for veins around the mouth and nose area he said was also caused by sun damage. (I did field research work for about 20 years and that was up to 14 hours 24/7 from May thru October. I used tons of sunscreen folks and ignored the ribbing…from folks who should know better with several collegues having skin cancer.)Anyway I first tried Glycolic peels for my face with great results getting rid of not only sun spotting age like spots but some raised and crusty material associated with one bad mark. But didn’t touch the leg spots at all. Neither did Salicylic Acid at 20% but liked that for my face and forearms along with Glycolic Acid. So bought this Lactic Acid to apply to the stubborn leg spots and looks like it’ll take a couple of months but I’m seeing actual results. Haven’t used on my face or arms yet. I intend to give my arms a trial run while it’s still winter. And maybe just an over all peel or two on my face but my main objective was and is the two stubborn sun damage on my leg…..because they are about 2-3 inches apart vertically from each other it makes it more distinquished and they are about the size of a nickle each. So happy with the product. Have a ways to go but even if it didn’t go any further still a huge improvement. Would recommend product for similar but it is pretty strong so caution is needed. Do a skin test or two before proceeding with any acid peel type product. I’ve been burned with retinol and it’s taken weeks to heel my face so approaching carefully makes sense. Also all our skin types are different. I’ve been senstive to many soaps and dial soap in the 70’s adverstised safe enough for baby skin would burn my face and give me rash. To this day I do not use dial soap but my husband prefers it. Never understood why I couldn’t handle one thing but another was fine…seems these peels are the same for a variety of people. Some they don’t work as well either. I am leaving it on up to 10 minutes as the max that’s recommended by the company. I would back off that for my face however. And I’d apply a thin layer of vaseline or aloe on lips, nose, eye area too as an added protection to sensitive skin. Good luck to all who need these types of products may you have results at last.
Angela Cheyney, PA
I have bought peels from this company for years. First off, they always arrive early and NEVER had any issues with them. Second, I think this is probably the best peel around. It brightens the skin especially for someone like me who suffers from acne and use’s harsh products. This is the peel. I have been using this for years (and used other ones too) and by far, this is it. Great product. Great company.

This amazing exfoliating cream removes impurities, dead skin cells and blackheads to reveal clearer, younger looking more radiant skin.
- Removes excess sebum and impurities.
- Leaves skin clean and fresh.
- Appropriate for all skin types.
Not really a mask, since it doesn’t work by sitting on your face. I watched the video on the pevonia website, so I applied it exactly as directed (water and rubbing activate enzymes). I wasn’t impressed, and my face really needed exfoliation. I think it did something, there was no tingling or stinging. Won’t buy again, probably won’t even finish the tub.
Latisha Danube, MN
I stumbled on Pevonia a few years ago and just love it. I have extremely sensitive skin and used the pevonia roseacea line for quite a while. I have struggled with finding an enzyme or exfoliating treatment that doesn’t leave me just raw with red skin. This is a very gentle enzyme cream mask, it doesn’t have much of an odor, and it is so easy to use in the shower (jump in, let the steam work for a minute, put it on, let it sit for a couple minutes, rinse it off). This and the Pevonia C Complexe are the two skin care items I splurge on. I have tried philosophy, Kate Sommerville, Murad, Dermalogica, Burt’s Bees – multiple higher end skin care lines and many from the drug store as well and this has worked the best for me and my sensitive skin. I would suggest this product to anybody. A little bit of this goes a long way so it lasts quite a while if using two times per week.
Lorna Glenoma, WA
This is a very nice peel ..I use it twice a week and it has my face smooth and super soft ….I apply and then use my finger with water and work it in ..And then leave on for 2 mins… Simple but effective

Lactic works from the outside in to plump the skin, improve moisture retention, and add a natural glow. Working on the surface, it is especially beneficial in treating skin tone, texture, and pigmentation. Lactic’s unique ability to draw moisture toward the surface of the skin makes it ideal for individuals whose skin dries out easily. This treatment also effectively combats acne, leaving a wonderfully smooth and clear complexion. With continued use as directed the skin will look more youthful and vibrant. The Lactic 30ml and 100ml are ideal for full facial applications. For specific areas, or spot treatments, the Lactic 50 Roll-on would be best. Not only did this do NOTHING for me after 7 months (followed directions 100%), but it STINKS. It smells like sour milk. I would actually take a deep breath when applying this because it smells so badly. I tried and I tried, for seven months, hoping the results would outweigh the stink. I’m not sure how people are getting these amazing results. Take a look at the other reviews, and click on “see all reviews by this person”, that helps in determining if someone is just padding the rating.
Judi Slagle, LA
No significant difference at all. Very unpappy with results. Have used product well over 8 times with nothing. Actually my skin became a little worse. Very unhappy.
Lindsay Mud Butte, SD
there is a slight tingling and thats it. after using many times i see no difference at all. i can’t believe anyone in their right mind would say this burns their face. i have a redheads complexion very light and when i use this there is not a speck of redness left. back it goes

- Lactic/Salicylic acid activating gel, 2 Ounce
- Vitamin C/Peptide resurfacing crystals, 2 Ounce
This product feels wonderful when you first wash it off but no lasting or visual effects. Bought other Philosophy products that did not live up to the hype around this product. Was pleasantly surprised with the scent of Grace, but it doesn’t last either. Hope in a Jar, When Hope is not enough, and neck creme did not do anything for me either.
Aisha Hays, KS
This product is NOT for everyone. If you have sensitive skin or don’t want to risk a massive breakout, stay away.I’ve used a lot of skin products, and quite a few by philosophy as well. My skin can be problematic at times, but usually it is pretty balanced and normal- not particularly sensitive. Well, I bought and used this product due to the great reviews, and it dried my skin out and made me break out. I had flakes peeling off as well as several zits. It was close to my period so I figured that might have been responsible, and since I paid so much for the product and it got such great reviews I tried it one more time. Boy am I SORRY!!! It has been three weeks and my face is still covered in acne, with red splotches and dry patches that are taking much longer than usual to heal. My friend asked what had happened to my face and when I told her she said she had experienced something similar with this product. If you have sensitive or dry skin, definitely stay away. Everyone else should proceed with caution.I hate to give philosophy a bad review, but my skin was great and now it is destroyed…
Hillary Forsan, TX
I love, love this peel. I am 26 and have suffered from acne prone skin since I was a teenager. I always have hyperpigmentation. I wanted it to fade faster, so I stumbled across this one day, and everywhere I looked gave it fantastic reviews, so I took a deep breath and spent the money to get it. And, my goodness, is it amazing! I use it 1 or 2 times a week. Not once has it made me breakout and it is super gentle. Every time I use it, I am still amazed at how my skin feels…when I am rinsing it off, my hand just kind of slides off of my face – there is no friction! It’s great. It fades my scars faster, but it is something that is hard for me to gauge, I am the fairest of the fair (thank you to my Scottish grandmother), to the point that no one makes a shades of foundation that is a perfect match, so needless to say, my scars last forever. My skin and face feel great after using this, it doesn’t cause flare-ups of acne, my make up goes on soo much smoother after the treatment, my face feels clean and refreshed, it’s all a win-win.I will say that the two steps can be a little cumbersome. But it’s worth it. Oh! And I didn’t even mention the smell, the orange crystals smell like orange frosting to me – it’s amazing. It is highly rated for a reason and a permanent staple in my cabinent (unfortunatly, I can’t say that for much).

This alpha beta peel and the Retin-A cream I use at night are the two skin care items I would not do without. I’ve been using it since 2009 when my sister-in-law, who had been using it for a while, let me try it. I saw results immediately. My skin was smoother and had more of a glow. Although the label says you might have a reaction at first, I didn’t. It’s like anything you use when you start to clean out your skin–sometimes it has to get worse before it can get better (similar to Retin-A). This is expensive stuff, but it works, unlike other products that claim to. Because of these products, I can save on moisturizers, etc. I am ALWAYS getting complimented on my skin, and I’m in my late 50’s! That never used to happen. I’m one of those adult-acne-prone people, and I’m not anymore since I started using the alpha beta peel. Recently I got a sample of the extra-strength version of this. I tried it without any problems, so I may start using it (it’s even more expensive :(). I never leave home without their travel packets; they’re great. I also wash with Dr. Dennis Gross’ All-in-One Facial Cleanser with Toner. This cleanser removes all makeup, including mascara (not sure about waterproof mascara, though) and never leaves my skin feeling tight. Plus I don’t have to buy and use toner–another step and cost. I also love their serums, but I use other brands, too (Boots No. 7, Origins). Their tinted moisturizer is great–really disappears on my skin, but I need to add additional moisturizer, especially in the winter.

For all the hype and hoopla, I found this product to be a real flop. It didn’t just fall short- it actually dried my skin out, made me peel and caused a breakout. I can honestly say my skin looked worse when I was using it than it had from any other product. You can get products with the same active ingredients for a quarter of the price anyway. They should be ashamed of themselves for charging so much.

These have been my mainstay for years and you can’t go wrong. It is a quick 5 minute therapy that really works. My routine; each morning and night (if you are using for the first time – get 30 pads and use every 3 days, then 2 days, then 1 day – then get your 60 day pads for am/pm. You will look younger, pores smaller, lines are smaller. Use behind your ears, don’t forget your neck (back of the neck too ladies) and let it do its job. I did purchase the EVIS Red which I just received to help as well. I will let you know in a review by month.JanSimpson

Am I ALLERGIC to this stuff??Just to be extra careful, since this was “70%”, I tried it just on ONE side of my face (left). The next day I had a bunch of little red bumps on my face (left side). Here it is, a month later, and the little red bumps are still there!I will NOT use this again.Edit:It is now April 12. I have been waiting since February for these red bumps to go away. They are s-l-o-w-l-y- diminishing.Clearly, something is wrong. Either I’m allergic to this stuff or it’s just too strong for my face. Definitely going in the trash. No 2nd chances on this one!Edit: April 26, 2013My original review was written in 2012.This is an update (a YEAR later).I would NOT recommend this product for several reasons:#1-The left side of my facial skin is messed up. Skin tone is very uneven compared to the RIGHT side, which was NOT treated with this product.#2-The “red” bumps I referred to in my original review NEVER went away. Instead of “red” bumps, I now have mild skin discoloration. Although the bumps are not “red”, what’s the point of using a peel, if the “marks” left on your face are darker than the rest of your facial skin.#3-On my left cheek, I now have something — I have no clue what it is, but it looks like melasma. As a result, I now have to try to get rid of that.I am staying with “natural” products. No more chemicals for me.No thanks!BTW, I am NOT saying this will happen to you. I’m just reporting what happened to me.Keep in mind, everyone’s skin is different.

I started out with the 50% Lactic Acid peel, which helped fade my melasma a little, then I moved on to this one.The first time I tried this peel, I started with a one minute application. I had mild tingling but nothing extreme. I added 1 min each time until I was doing 4 minutes. I noticed more subtle improvements on my face each time and continued to be impressed with these peels. Lactic acid has a wonderfully moisturizing effect that leaves your skin so soft and smooth the next morning.I’ve struggled with stubborn, resistant hyper-pigmentation (melasma) around my eyes for years. I tried countless products that seemed to work for others but did not work for me. Only photofacials had been able to remove it but it returned with the slightest bit of sun (hyper-active melanocytes) so photofacials were just too expensive for a temporary solution. These peels, week by week, (and a gradual increase in strength, along with a combination of other products I have listed on my profile), slowly faded them. As I moved on to stronger peels, its now 95% gone. It will still occasionally come back when I have a run in with the sun but it fades away again. The company has a lot of information on their website and are very responsive so I continue to buy from them.NOTES ON PEELS:-Don’t do it more often than they recommend. They recommend you do it every so often for a reason. Your skin has to have time to heal and develop new skin before you strip it away again.-You HAVE to wear sunblock. Your skin is more exposed and vulnerable to damage from sun. Protect it. If you don’t you are canceling out or even reversing your progress. I like this one,Ole Henriksen Protect the Truth Sunscreen SPF 50+-1.7 oz. Its not the best moisturizer but as a sunblock, its great. Its my favorite because its hard to find high spf that doesn’t leave a white haze, smell funky or make your eyes tear up.-When you are doing your peels, make sure you start with a clean DRY face, water will dilute the acid in your peel. I am wondering if thats why some people did not see any results. I wash my face, swipe it with alcohol on a cotton ball to remove any leftover oils and to help dry it. Wait 10-15 minutes, then apply the peel.-Use a fan brush like this oneTaklon Fan Mask Brush Acid Applicator for Glycolic Lactic TCA Skin Peel / Masques (Small). Mine has lasted over a year. You can use cotton balls/squares but I think they absorb product so you will waste some and get less peels out of your bottle.-Watch your face when the peel is on. The recommended time is a guideline, everyones skin is different and reacts differently. Thats why they recommend you start slow. Some are ok 1 min the first time, others the full 4 min. Once your skin starts looking pinkish, its time to remove. If it gets red, you’ve gone too long.-Make sure you wash off ALL of the acid. Wash, rewash, wash again. I like to shower right after to make sure its all gone. Any leftover acid will continue to work its way into your skin. I like to use a post peel neutralizer as an extra precaution. MD Formulations had a post peel neutralizer that was AWESOME but they don’t sell it individually. I am trying this oneNeutralizer skin pH balancer helps balance the pH of your skin for the safe and effective neutralization after peeling.. It works but I am still trying to find one more like the MD formulations one. You pour onto cotton ball and sweep your face right after peel, then wash it off with water. You can also mix your own neutralizer using baking soda and water.-Moisturize after. This one has been my favorite to use after,Hydrating Repair Peptide Wrinkle Cream (Post Peel) – Enhanced with Matrixyl 3000, Argireline, Hyaluronic Acid & Natural Botanical Extracts. I also use it as a night cream. Very moisturizing and doesn’t feel greasy or leave a residue.

I ordered this product after doing tremendous research. The first time I used it, I didn’t ‘feel’ much going on, but my skin did peel a bit during the first week. The second time I used it, my skin tingled quite a bit and turned reddish, and my skin broke out. I think it was the impurities coming to the surface. The next couple of weeks I used the product weekly and continued to break out a bit. Now my skin is clear and my complexion is unbelievable! I was a bit skeptical when I began using the product, but I persisted, remembering that when I would have facials (professional) I was told I’d break out first and then clear up.I would highly recommend this product. I tend(ed) to break out on a continual basis, worsening during my menstrual cycles, including cystic acne. I rarely form blackheads at all now that I use this product regularly, which means nothing blocking/clogging my pores. In fact, although pores do not actually shrink, my formerly large-appearing pores are less pronounced and look smaller to me.

I use a cotton swab with this solution on my face. It can feel like burning at first and it does dry out my zits quickly. After I re-apply it (2-3 times a day) the second day I see a significant relief in the breakouts. It smells alcoholey, but bearable. What I do like about this is that the ingredients and it does calm down the redness and size of the zits as well as dry them out. I have occasional breakouts and after I used this, it cleared them up in a few days.

The product smells great. The primary active ingredient is Salicylic acid. I liked that it was all natural, but it did not deliver. My son kept saying he thought it was making his acne worse, and his acne did seem to be spreading but I thought maybe it was just a breakout and encouraged him to keep using it. After about a week and a half, we both were in agreement that it seemed to be making it worse. When he stopped using it, his breakouts quit and his face cleared up.That said, we were using the Burt’s Bees gel cleanser and this product together. The gel cleanser has the same active ingredient and cleans the skin well without drying it, then this is for treating active spots of acne. The cleanser is great, and I’ll keep buying it – but the spot treatment just was a disaster and we ended up tossing it out.

At the beginning of 2013, I decided that I was going to try and go natural and clean up the beauty products I was using. In December, I was using LUSH products, which I thought were natural (turns out, most of them aren’t at all), and they worked for awhile but ended up making me break out after using them for a few weeks. During Christmas Break, I didn’t want to see anyone or take any pictures because I was that ashamed of my face. I have NEVER broken out so bad and it seemed like no matter what I did, nothing worked. I desperately searched for natural products and after stumbling upon a website called GoodGuide.com, I found this spot treatment by Burt’s Bees. This was highly rated on the site and, because I love Burt’s Bees, I thought it was a great idea to start using it. I checked it out on Amazon and it was also highly reviewed-I was sold. I went to my local Wal-Mart and picked this baby up for about $10. I thought the price was a little steep for a spot treatment, I was used to paying about $5-6, but it was so highly rated and it had natural ingredients so I went with it.I have been using this spot treatment in my daily face regime for about a month and I must say, my face has almost completely cleared up and I am so happy. Even scars that I had are almost completely gone. Burt’s Bees, you are the miracle worker I have been searching for! I love that this product works but that it is also natural. My other face products are natural as well and are highly rated on GoodGuide.com and I think that also has to do with my face clearing up as well (if you are interested in what else I use, look up my reviews for The Body Shop Aloe line face wash and lotion). One thing that I would suggest when using this product is to make sure that your hands are clean before applying to your face. I use my fingers to apply because I feel like putting the liquid on a cotton ball or Q-tip wastes product because it soaks it up. I make sure my hands are clean before using and I use different fingers to apply on different areas so I do not spread bacteria. All in all, I love this product. The smell is a little strong but I can get over that one negative because the product works for me. I definitely think it is a little pricey but, they sell a pack of 3 on Amazon and it is only $20 so definitely buying it on here in bulk is a much better price than just buying one at the store like I did. I am still on my first bottle of this and, because I use it multiple times a day and almost all over my face, it is about halfway gone. I think this one bottle will last me about 2-3 months and I am okay with that because of how well it works. I would highly recommend this to anyone who would like a natural spot treatment for their acne.
