It Works, But …
I’ve used this product before, and it does what it claims. My skin looked great. It really did a great job of brightening. But the cleanser it a bit drying. I have sensitive skin and it did cause it to flake. Thankfully, this cleanser did not cause my skin to turn red or breakout. Another thing of note is the smell, it subtle but still carries a lovely lemon aroma to it, just enough to wake you up in the morning. The consistency of it is another selling point, it’s non-tacky and lathers just right.Again, if you can deal with the drying it may cause to your skin, or if you have normal/combination skin, then this might just before for you. But it does help to use the complete line.
Burt’s Bees Brightening Daily Facial Cleanser with Daisy Extract
Burt’s Bees Brightening Daily Facial Cleanser with Daisy Extract. This cleanser smells good and also makes my face feel good after having cleansed it with this product. Even though I’ve never had this particular product, I am no new-comer to Burt’s Bees. It is a brand that I buy and use very frequently. The container says: "Helps visibly even skin tone, Creates a brighter, more luminous complexion, Removes dirt, oil, and make-up".I love this product. I wash my face everyday and have to remove makeup.
Delivers All Day Long
I’ve tried several skin care products throughout the years high-end and pharmacy priced and even Burt Bees that have made erroneous claims but fail to deliver. I saw noticeable difference after my initial use and continue to see improvements day in and day out leaving my skin smooth and with a nice polish. I have combo skin and brown moca skin complexion. In addition I take care of my skin via balanced nutrition. This one is a keeper.
Burt’s Bee’s Face Wash
I have previously tried the Burt’s Bee’s facial wipes, (and love them!) and was excited to try the face wash. The cleanser has a very light, mild smell. It leaves my face feeling clean, refreshed and soft. I feel that it gets off all the dirt and makeup, and doesn’t leave any residue behind. This is a creamy cleanser, and does not foam up like other face washed might. But despite that, I feel that my face is getting a good cleanse from this product.
It’s alright, but not too bright
I really like the texture of this Burts Bees cleaner, it’s thick, rich and creamy. It does not lather, and I’m fine with that. It rinses easily, so I’m not left with a filmy feeling. My skin doesn’t feel tight or dry, nor does it feel like I’ve left any on after. But, I also don’t feel like it’s making my skin anything other than just clean, and I’ve got other face washes that do just that. Apparently it works best in conjunction with the other Burts Bees brightening components, but based on it as a solo product, it’s nice, but just not showing a difference in my skins tone. The smell is also a little different, not bad, but not my favorite either. It’s like a wild flower and something odd underneath. The price is good for it being a specialty ’boutique’ type cleanser, but they have others that I like better. Will finish using it, but probably won’t repurchase.
Cleansing yes, brightening, eh
My experience with Burt’s Bees products overall is that they tend to promise more than they can actually deliver. What I liked about this product was everything that you would normally expect from a basic facial cleanser: a very light sense, decent thickness, goes on smoothly and washes off easily. I did feel like my skin was nice, clean, and fresh after using it. What I have not seen any particular evidence of is "brightening," although I’ll continue to use it just because I like it as a cleanser.
Ok as a basic cleanser
This brightening cleanser is good as a basic face wash, but I do not feel that it has brightening capabilities. It is a thick cream cleanser that leaves the skin smooth and rinses well. I don’t notice much scent from it at all, which is nice for face products – you don’t need extra ingredients/perfumes on your face. My face feels soft after using it and not tight or dried out.I have tried pretty much every skin brightening product out there, from many different brands and many different types of products – creams, cleansers, toners, etc etc etc. I have brown patches on my face from sun exposure. A large wide patch across my forehead and above my top lip which tends to look like a mustache, unfortunately. I have tried products costing 50, 60, 100+ dollars, as well as cheaper stuff like this Burts Bees and different fade creams you can buy at cvs, kmart, etc. The only 2 products that I can say definitely work are Clinique Repairwear LaserFocus serum for about 47 dollars (which actually works better than their Even Better Dark Spot Corrector) and a cleanser by origins called Never a Dull Moment for about twenty one dollars. If you are looking for a brightening cleanser, I would definitely recommend the Origins one mentioned above. It may seem a bit pricey for a cleanser, but it works and it definitely worth it. It lasts very long. A whole tube can last me at least several months (longer than a whole summer, which is when I need it most). You only need a very tiny dab of it and you can definitely tell a difference in your skin in about a week.As with any skin brightening or spot fading product, when you stop using the products, the spots or discolorations will come back and sometimes they come back even darker .. it’s like they get mad and take revenge on you lol. It is important to know what ingredients are used because things like Hydroquinone, which is a common ingredient in "brightening" or spot fading products, really comes back to bite you when you stop using them.I was hoping this Burts Bees cleanser would actually work to help with skin brightening, but it wasn’t effective for me. Someone else may have better results though – everyone is different. Their products are typically very good quality and I buy a lot of the brand for my daughter who has very sensitive, picky facial skin. Burts Bees sensitive face moisturizer is the only one she can use without any irritation whatsoever, so I do trust in the brand, in general.
This is a cream cleanser not the foaming kind. It left my skin soft and smooth, maybe a little brighter. I did wake up in the morning with a zit on my neck though I don’t know if this was the cause of it. It smells good in the container and then when I put it on my face the smell was a hint "nair" like (for anyone familiar with the Nair cream hair remover). You can’t use this in the eye area of course which is a bit of a pain for someone like me. I just want one simple quick thing to wash my entire face and one simple thing to moisturize. Not multiple steps with multiple products.
A Lovely Face Wash!
First of all…I love and use Burt’s Bees products…foot cream, body moisturizer, lip balms…shower washes…I use and love them all. I have not tried a face wash from this company before this one. It says that it will brighten your skin and I truly think it does! It feels fresh, I love my skin afterwards…it does not feel dry but feels totally clean! This will be a product that I will use often!
If you are looking for a soapy cleanser this might disappoint you as it is purely creamy. It does seem to clean the skin effectively however and leaves the skin moisturized. If you have dry skin you will probably love this. Very little goes a long way.~The Rebecca Review
Good cleanser but greasy aftermath!
I wanted to love this cleanser especially because this brand is one of my absolute favorites! It’s great for cleaning your face but the only problem is that it leaves a greasy residue. This is just yucky. I typically use my Clairsonic to cleanse so when I use it with this cleanser it’s a little easier to get off. But there are times when I’m in a rush and just use my hands to cleanse and in cases like this, UGH it takes forever to get the cleanser off.Now I know it’s supposed to be a brightener for your face. I have a lot of dark acne marks on my face and sadly this has not done one iota for them. I gave it a try but never again.
Good product for DRY skin
This is a creamy, not soapy, cleanser. Do I like it? Yes. My skin certainly feels clean after using it, and I like the light and pleasant smell. Will it brighten your skin?
• , IF you use it with Burt’s Bees entire line of brightening products for an extended amount of time. The problem is that this cleanser is definitely meant for those with more dry skin than what I have. I usually use Burt’s Bees Acne Purifying Gel Cleanser and as that doesn’t even dry out my skin, it’s clear that these creamy cleansers just aren’t for me. However, if you have drier skin and don’t mind that this won’t
• deliver that ‘brightening’ effect that it claims to have, this is still a better cleanser for the price than most out there.
Very Gentle Plus Natural Ingredients
This is a very nice cleanser if you have sensitive and or dry skin. My skin is on the oily side with occasional breakouts so I need a cleanser that has a little more scrubbing power to clean pores. This is a decent moisturizing cleanser if that is what you need for your skin type. I like the natural ingredients in the Brightening Facial Cleanser and Burt’s Bee’s is a brand we love around here, but this one isn’t effective on young skin prone to breakouts like my teenaged girls’ skin. This is a more mature cleanser to smooth and sooth the skin. I also think the ingredients and natural cleansing in the Brightening Daily Cleanser will be more beneficial in the summer when sunburns occur and it’s very good for older men and women who’s skin is dryer.
Leaves Skin Feeling Clean
I have recently been reviewing Burt’s Bees products. I have been using the line for years, but only recently started using their facial line. This is the only product I have tested for Vine. The other products have been purchased by me.I used this with my Clarisonic Mia in the shower. I used this sparingly and moistened the brush head with water. It is not a foamy cleanser and in this respect it reminds me of the cleanser that I received with my Mia. My skin has become dry and flaky because of the severe weather and I hoped that this would remove some of the dry skin buildup while not drying my skin out.I thought this did a good job of cleansing. My face felt clean and soft. It was not dry, but I did apply a light coat of night moisturizer after using this product. When I got up the next morning my skin looked nice but I wouldn’t say it looked brighter. My complexion isn’t bad to begin with and I do not have blackheads or skin imperfections because I don’t use makeup except for lip gloss so brightening may be a moot point in my case. This product is comparable to the cleanser I buy from Sephora but is less pricey. At this point I have used this for three days and have not had an allergic reaction. It is a nice cleanser that does a good job and works well with my Mia.
Depending on What You Need, Could be a Winner …
I strive to use natural products. Burt’s Bees creates a number of products that I find indispensable … and this one may join my current regimen. Here are the pros and cons of this cleanser, from my perspective:Pros:-Natural-Seems to be suitable for those with sensitive skin (my skin was not at all irritated by this product)-Good price for such a large container-Works well with Clarisonic-Leaves skin soft, not stripped of natural oilsPotential Cons:-Does not lather, at all (but this is to be expected with a natural product and this is why your face will feel so soft after using it. Still, it may take a bit of getting use to, so be prepared for something “a little different.”)-Extremely difficult to completely wash-off — it took me over twenty second of splashing my face/rubbing my face to feel comfortable enough to pat dry. For me, that’s a massive waste of water. In the future, I will try to use it in the shower as I wash my hair.-Unusual smell. In sum, it is a solid product that you will feel good about using. My advice would be to use less than you usually do and, if you have a Clarisonic, try it with this cleanser (it may leave you with a “cleaner feel” than just using your fingers).
This is a very nice cleanser. It’s light and creamy and rinses very well. My skin feels very soft after using it. Not harsh at all.
Burt’s Bees make another fine cleanser
I have loved Burt’s Bees products since college and have had very few negative experiences with them. Among my absolute favorites is the company’s face washes and I was delighted to try this new formula. I hoped for the same lovely feeling, a mild but pleasant scent, and some worthy moisturizing capabilities. All in all, this cleanser is everything I hoped it would be. It has the same delightful creaminess as the company’s other cream cleansers, a dazzling scent that isn’t overpowering, and plenty of moisture–indeed, this is something I would recommend to those with dryer skin. It removes my make-up easily and leaves my face feeling clean without any drying stiff sensation. As for the brightening, well, I’m currently fortunate to not suffer from dark spots so I don’t have too much to test on. Still, other than the usual impressive skin care, I see nothing above and beyond. But if you’re just looking for a great cleanser, this is wonderful.
Smells great, leaves skin smooth and clean
I absolutely love this product. It looks and smells like lemon pie filling, but the scent is mild and not at all overwhelming. It is easy to use and leaves my skin feeling clean and smooth.Best of all, it doesn’t contain those little bits of polyethylene (plastic) that so many facial scrubs are using these days. I find the idea of washing little pieces of plastic down my sink and into our water supply disturbing, so I am happy to find a high quality product that doesn’t contain them.
Not my favorite Burt’s Bees cleanser, but I’ll tell you which one is…
I’m a HUGE Burt’s Bees skin care fan. I’ve been using several of their products for years now. They generally put out really good products, and as a licensed cosmetologist, I’m a very picky customer when it comes to skin and hair care items. I really love their natural or almost 100% natural products and ingredients. Their company is reputable, respectable, and I love that they don’t test on animals. That said, this is not my favorite Burt’s Bees cleanser. I have very dry skin, so the creaminess and gentleness of this product was GREAT. However, it really felt–and performed–more like a moisturizer if you ask me. And the whole "skin brightening" thing…yeah, I’ve been using a few of those "brightening" Burt’s Bees products lately. I’ve noticed *A LITTLE*, like, a tiny amount, of improved skin tone, more even color. Just BARELY. Almost unnoticeable. So to the point where I feel like these special Burt’s Bees "skin brightening" products are maybe not even worth it? Because the change isn’t at all drastic, on the contrary: any changes are barely discernible after weeks of use.I do, however, have a favorite Burt’s Bees cleanser. Let it be said that I have VERY sensitive, pale skin. I am of Swedish heritage, and therefore have porcelain, dry, very pale skin with pink undertones. My very favorite cleanser–for quite some time now!–has been Burt’s Bees Orange Essence Cleanser. I LOVE that stuff. It feels like a cleanser, but is not at all harsh. It has olive oil in it, so it leaves my skin feeling soft and dewy, unlike harsh cleansers which can leave my skin feeling like it’s on fire and tight. I highly recommend the Burt’s Bees Orange Essence cleanser. It’s so natural, too, that you can taste it–it’s sweet like oranges. So refreshing in the morning! Also–as a cosmetologist I have to say, don’t forget to follow cleanser with a toner! A cleanser is designed to alter the pH balance of your skin so that it can clean out your dilated pores. A toner is important because it comes along behind cleanser to restore your skin’s ideal pH balance and thus tightens up your pores and protects your skin against dirt and pollution. I’ve also been using the Burt’s Bees Rosewater toner for a while now and I like it a lot but any toner will do.The Burt’s Bees "Brightening" products are not my favorite, but I’m still a loyal Burt’s Bees follower. Their products are overall fantastic. I think some dry/sensitive skinned folks might actually really like this cleanser, but if you’re looking for a good clean feeling after, it’s not my favorite. If you wear little makeup and require little skin care, but would like a gentle, creamy cleanser, then this might just be the cleanser for you.
Doesn’t do everything claimed
This is a pleasant facial cleaner, with a nice fresh citrusy scent to it. It is not irritating, but it doesn’t seem to do much for my dry skin either. I didn’t notice any "brightening" or evening of my skin tone after a few weeks of regular use, though. It is also quite expensive. I don’t think I will buy a refill.
great for sensitive skin
I have super sensitive and dry skin and I have been looking forever for something to replace Aveeno Calm Creme cleanser, I was thrilled to find this (and it is even cheaper- bonus!). It only takes a bit to remove my makeup (after using a makeup remover wipe) and feels wonderful. There is a bit of a tingle to the product that feels wonderful. The foam cleansers are a bit drying and this does a wonderful job.
strong enough for him, gentle enough for her
A nice facial cleanser that works well for both him & her, and smells really good. The mildly gritty texture reminds me of a face scrub. Apply to a moistened face, rub gently into the skin, then rinse thoroughly. My mixed-oily face feels just as clean afterwards as when using my old Neutrogena facial bars, without needing as much moisturizer afterwards. (for which I prefer theBurt’s Bees Sensitive Daily Moisturizing Cream)The jury is still out on the “brightening”.I was honestly skeptical about this product, having used foaming face washes (and other face-care regimens) in the past that just weren’t strong enough for the oily areas or facial hair (both bearded areas and stubble being an issue), or reeked like cologne and musk (men’s products). The GF tried this one first and raved about it, so I tried it and was pleasantly surprised when it worked very well indeed, even on the areas with facial hair (taking an extra moment to rub the cleaner thoroughly into facial hair). When applied and left to sit for a couple of minutes before rinsing, it leaves the skin with that pleasantly taut/refreshed feeling of having used a clay or charcoal mask. The ingredients list is almost-entirely natural, and excludes nasties like parabens and phthalates, which are used in mainstream brands for texture and pour-ability. While this cleanser isn’t yet in EWG’s excellent “Skindeep” database (which rates toxicity of cosmetics), previous Burt’s Bees facial cleansers have scored very well. Burt’s Bees is part of a large conglomerate now, but their products still seem to stay close to the original vision. Also, did I mention it smells great? The GF says I should plan to continue getting this cleanser for her, based on its smell alone. If you’re trying to move your personal care regimen towards more natural products, this one is a good bet. Highly recommended.
Fresh and gentle cleanser
I really like this Burt’s Bees facial wash. It leaves my face feeling fresh and clean but not stripped and dry. I have sensitive skin that easily breaks out but I have not had any new issues with this wash. I follow up with a toner and never do I see any makeup residue left by this cleanser. It removes it all. I will continue to use it.
Cleans well but can sting
I love Burt’s Bees products, but was a little disappointed with this one. It cleaned my face well enough, but stung the sensitive areas. My nose tends to be dry and sensitive and this product irritated the skin. It does have a sweet lemony smell and lifted the make up off quickly though.
my new favorite
I’ve always loved Burt’s Bees products. My facial skin is dry and very sensitive, so I can’t use anything soapy or foaming. I apply a small amount of this creamy lotion to my face and massage in, then rinse with a wet, warm washcloth. My complexion feels soft and clean, but not at all greasy. It does have a strong herbal fragrance, but that dissipates quickly. I don’t really get the media hype about "brightening’ and "luminous" qualities, which is used for other products also. If I’m in real sunlight, my skin will appear more luminous and bright. That aside, this is a winner. 98.7% natural. However, I do wish it says ‘Not tested on animals".
Gentle, pleasant daily cleanser
I have been using this daily for a couple weeks now at the end of the day to take off my makeup and before going to bed. It is gentle and doesn’t irritate my skin. The fragrance is subtle and lovely. However, at the end of two weeks of use, I do not notice any “brightening” effects whatsoever. My skin just looks clean afterwards. It does say on the back that it is recommended for use with the other products of Burt’s Bees brightening line for best results.
Pretty good cleanser
My skin has been oily, but really dry and irritated underneath, and it’s been driving me crazy. I usually use cleansers for oily skin, but they had the opposite effect and dried my skin out, which caused more oil production and redness. The Burt’s Bees cleanser isn’t bad, and I like that they don’t test on animals. The cleanser helped moisturizer my skin, even though putting something that felt as oily as a lotion made me afraid of breaking out. It doesn’t leave behind a very clean feeling, but it still did a good enough job. I’m probably just used to the cleansers made for oily skin, which strip away all the oils on your face. I used an astringent afterward to make sure my face was completely clean, though. It did help soothe my skin and seemed to improve its appearance.I would have probably continued to use it if I hadn’t found a better cleanser that has done wonderful things for my skin’s dryness and redness and surprisingly helped my skin not get as oily (The Body Shop Vitamin E Cream Cleanser Regular, 6.7-Fluid Ounce). I also started using other Body Shop products (moisturizers, masks, etc.), and they have helped me tremendously without breaking me out.My husband took over using the Burt’s Bees cleanser. He already has really good skin with a normal skin type, but I can tell his skin has looked “brighter” since he started using it. By “brighter,” I mean it gives his skin a glow. Other reviewers interpreted “brightening” as lightening dark spots, so if that is what you think “brightening” means, then I don’t know if this cleanser will help you much. All in all, it’s a pretty good cleanser.
Nice clean, but not for my skin
I love Burt’s Bees lip care products, so I decided to try this. My skin is super sensitive (I have eczema) and can’t tolerate the majority facial cleansing products, even if they are made out of natural ingredients. Burt’s Bee was a decent cleanser and left my skin feeling clean. It does not suds, which is a plus in my opinion, but unfortunately, my skin eventually reacted to this cleanser after a few days, so it’s back to PCA Products for me.
Not bad for cleansing, but brightening? I’m not convinced
I like this product for makeup removal and cleansing, but I’ve been using it for a week or so, and so far I don’t look brighter. Reading the ad copy on the product, it says that to achieve the brightening effect you need to use the whole line of products, which includes something like 5 different products. It also says you need to use this whole "regimen" for a month to see results. Um, sure.Leaving aside the whole brightening claims, I still like this product. It smells pretty, and feels a lot like Ponds, except it’s mostly natural. It effectively cleans and afterwards my face feels semi-moisturized. I’m surprised someone found it drying; to me it’s just the opposite, and I would imagine that someone with oily skin would find it overly greasy. I have normal to dry skin, and I like it.
Smells nice, feels clean
My wife is very picky about the soaps and things she uses–it should smell nice, but it can’t have too strong of a smell, the product needs to be free of various chemicals, and things of that nature. This product seems to meet all of her preferences. We’ll be getting this again…
