- Ben Nye Banana Luxury Face Powder 3.0 oz Makeup KIM KARDASHIAN Contour NEW
What is all the fuss about? Kardashian marketing machine at it again…
I feel like I’ve been duped by the Kardashian marketing machine. I bought this powder because Kim Kardashian has the same skin tone as me: olive skin tone with dark under eyes. So I thought, let me do what she’s supposedly doing. I followed all the techniques: bought the powder, bought the sponge, bought the fan brush. I was excited to try this out. When I applied the powder I allowed for it to set in for 5 minutes. I even put alot on, just like some tutorials show you to do. I put it on top of yellow corrective creme…yellow corrective creme + yellow corrective setting powder = how could I go wrong? It doesn’t fully camouflage my dark under eyes. They can still be seen. On top of this, this powder is horribly wasteful. I have to tap out a pile of it on top of a tissue so then I can use my sponge on it to apply to my under eyes. I end up throwing away unused powder on that tissue. I feel duped because it doesn’t cover up my under eye circles well enough. The same job this powder gives me, is also given to me by using yellow corrective creme + regular face powder…. I end up putting regular face powder over this banana powder anyway. Thus, my under eyes eventually look cakey. I can live without this Banana powder. I feel as though I’ve been duped by the Kardashian marketing gimmick. She showed us a few pictures of using this to her millions of followers, now those millions of followers went out and bought this and ranted and raved how good this stuff is. I wonder if she got a cut of profit from the Ben Nye makeup people.
Good, needs better container (for dispensing)
The way the container is made is a little impractical, a wider opening, or one of the ones that dispenses only a little powder at a time would be better. Other than that, it’s good for what it does. Makes a huge difference in diffusing light when photographed (which is what Kim K uses it for) looks the same in person.
So as a light Olive complected female with predominantly reddish but can’t miss green undertones and is yellow skin toned everywhere else, you can only imagine my struggle to find a powder. Too orange, too pink, too ashey, too light, too dark, too green, too blue, too oily, too dry, doesn’t last, etc. . This is a surprisingly nice powder. I got it primarily to set my undereye concealer and to use as a finishing make up setting powder. This works really great. Something else I was able to do is add some to my already existing too pink loose powder duds that I paid too much for to throw out and it fixed them!! One word of caution is your skin MUST be very well moisturized before using it. Those with great complexions could easily get away with a moisturizer and a light coating of this powder and will truly be fine all day. I can see this working for anybody with light to medium skin tones to darker skin tones. My easily sunburned fair skinned sisters would probably do better with the translucent or white finishing powder. This powder is the color of dull banana pudding and not the bright yellow that is sold by some cosmetic companies. Another great thing about it is that a little goes a long way so start out with a light dusting, too much and you’ll look flat (as what happened to me in my excitement the first time I used it).
Ben Nye is a thumbs up!
The Ben Nye Banana Luxury Face Powder is a purchase I am happy with. No complaints. It does just what it is intended to do and helps my concealer stay put all day.
Great for highlighting under and around eyes. Not too shiny. Nice and light weight. Heard great things about this product.
It has talc. I got a rash
I was so hoping to like this powder as I heard so many people rave about it. However, I developed a very bad rash. I tried hydrocortisone, melaleuca, and essential oils, but nothing worked for the rash. I ended up having to get a prescription strength cream. Sorry that I’ve had to donate this product. I learned my lesson…..look at the ingredients first. It should be high quality ingredients.
OMG THE HOLY GRAIL
SO THIS STUFF IS AS AMAZING AS IT IS WHEN I SAW KIM K USE IT! I APPLY IT OVER MY UNDER EYE CONCEALER AND HIGHLIGHTS AND IT BLENDS SEAMLESSLY AND IT SEALS IT RIGHT IN WITHOUT CREASING!!! ITS GOLDEN CRACK!OH, AND IT SHIPS QUICK AND FAST!!
Thought this would be more pigmented, but I’m not complaining that much. It is very fine and has a tad bit of shimmer. Works well, just wish it came in a regular loose powder case
