Pros: Gets Hot Quick. Cons: Not very durable.
This product is leaps and bounds above it’s other price-range curling irons – it gets very hot relatively quickly and is pretty easy to use.Unfortunately you do get what you pay for (and I was ripped off paying $45 at the beauty store for it.) After about 2 days of use, there was a short in the rotating cord and if the iron is held at an odd angle, it turned off. It was still usable, but I had to modify the way I curled my hair to avoid it turning off and losing heat. After about 6 months, you can see the ceramic coating chipping off a little – and I used the iron about 3-4x per month. If you’re in the market for a cheap curling iron – I would suggest this because compared to the Revlon, Remington and Conair brands I’ve had in the past, this is the closest to a high end curling iron among them – most likely you will have better luck with your iron than I did.
Shorted out after 2 months of light use
This curling iron worked well for my thick, fine textured, very long hair until it shorted out only TWO MONTHS after buying it. I used it maybe twice a week at most. Also, the dial for the temperature changed easily when I was using it because my hand was constantly bumping it. Last but not least, the cord tangled horribly. It’s a shame because the curling iron actually curled fairly well. I won’t buy a product from this manufacturer again and I’m looking for a new curling iron.
This is, by far, the best curling iron that I have ever owned. Before I got this one I had a Hot Tools that cost 3 times as much as I paid for this one and it lasted less than a year. I am not hard on curling irons either. When I use this to curl my hair it makes it super shiny which is hard to believe because my hair is pretty damaged from coloring. I will need to order a smaller barrel too for some tighter curls. The dual voltage will really come in handy for me since I work in Afghanistan and will be traveling to Ireland soon. A friend of mine used it two times and loved it so much she ordered one for herself.
Really smooth on the hair!
I have naturally straight thick long layered hair. I thought I would update from my old conair barrel curling iron.. This heats up very fast. I used the high setting because I have thick hair, it feels really smooth and my hair does feel silky when using this, it curls pretty fast.. I have the 1.5 barrel to define my layers. It works well and I don’t feel like its buring my hair. Nice product!
Professional stylist review
I am a professional hairstylist and travel abroad quite a bit. I am amazed at the lack of dual voltage options for curling irons! I settled on this one because I couldn’t find one in my local beauty supply. I think this is a solid product that heats up evenly and fast and stays hot! It definitely does what it is suppose too. For the reviews that say this doesn’t hold a curl in the hair, well this size of iron is not ment to give a full curl, only a loose wave and maybe not even that for anything shorter then shoulder length. If you want curls go for 1.25 inch or smaller! For a dual voltage curling iron this is a solid product.
so far so good
I really like this iron. the only problem is it is big which makes it hard to handle it. it doesn’t make your hair curly. it gives nice loose curls. .love it!
