Our Baby-Safe Standards Baby-safe is how we create, test, and improve our products. Between idea and reality we talk to parents, doctors, regulatory experts and scientists. We learn what we should and shouldn’t do to make it safe and great. How does the product feel and smell (or doesn’t)? How does it work and why? What ingredients will make it better? What which are unsafe or unnecessary? How can we can make it easy or fun and economical to use? We test and refine it. And once it’s on the shelf it’s never off our radar. We review ingredients, the latest studies, listen to your feedback and we’re on the lookout for new and better ways to improve performance or safety. Just like our babies – we never sleep. Babyganics Crib Notes Household and Personal Care products that help you create your baby-safe world Products are offered in Fragrance Free and fragranced versions Our fragrances are all-natural Clinically tested Household products that are Plant Based, Non-Toxic, Non-Allergenic and Hard-Working Baby Care products that are Non-Allergenic, Non-Irritating, Pediatrician & Dermatologist Tested, Tear Free Our Do’s And Our Don’ts It goes without saying (but we’ll say it anyway) we don’t use toxic or harmful ingredients. But there’s no generally accepted standard for “natural” and “safe” so we’ve come up with our own. All our ingredients are vetted by experts as safe to use around babies. Our “never use” ingredients come from Natural Product Standards, EU and US lists of ingredients to avoid (parabens, phthalates, known toxins, endocrine disruptors, carcinogens, etc.). Then the real parent test: “Is this something we’d confidently use around or on our own babies?” If it’s on the shelf, the answer is “Yes.” In the end, the best way for all of us to help babies develop and thrive is to focus on the yeses. How can we add value to you and your baby’s world? How can we better nourish, protect, soothe, or clean? The answers are in ingredients like NeoNourish and Orange Blossom in our night time formulas to relax your baby. It’s in soothing, calming ingredients like Colloidal Oatmeal, Olive Oil, Shea Butter, Aloe and Vitamin E. Our ‘do’s’ mean our products aren’t just safe, they’re gentle, nourishing, moisturizing, cleansing, soothing, rash-reducing, healing, stain-removing, grease-cutting, clean-rinsing, broad spectrum, super-protective, absorbent and a really good value. So remember the don’ts – But don’t forget the do’s. Our Testing We test every product and ingredient for safety and efficacy (Does it rinse? Clean? Protect? Moisturize? Heal?) and our preservatives (Will it last, resist contamination, and is it safe?). We test for skin irritation (Human Repeat Insult Patch Testing if you want to get all technical) and eye irritation. We do SPF, Water Resistance & Broad Spectrum tests for our sun care products and Stability and Micro Contamination tests on all our formulas. That’s the short list. If you want to satisfy your inner chemistry nerd call our toll free number. Plenty of geeks on our end are standing by to talk! NeoNourish As part of our ongoing commitment to add yeses to our products we’ve created an ingredient blend that’s special enough to get its own little shout out. This 100% natural, cold-pressed seed oil blend is specifically made for the unique needs of babies’ ‘work in progress’ skin. It’s a combination of oils from the seeds of Black Cumin, Tomato, Sunflower, Cranberry and Red Raspberry. Sorta Ok … it’s just oatmeal lotion

I don’t love this product. here’s why1. Very hard to get it to absorb. At first it sort of lathers up on the skin like a bar of soap on dry skin. Eventually it does get absorbed, but it’s a lot of work, so hopefully you have a patient baby.2. Doesn’t smell nice … it’s not bad, but it’s unscented and you can sort of smell a musty sort of oatmeal-y scent. So it’s not easy or particular pleasant to apply.Does it work?Um … sort of? Sure … It’s a lotion and it helps my daughter’s rashes. So do most lotions if I’m vigilant. Take note that the only active ingredient in this lotion is oatmeal. So if you think you’re getting some special Eczema ingredient, you’re not. There isn’t some secrete eczema specific ingredient in it.I really like my daughter’s Hydra Bebe Lotion from Mustella. It absorbs easily, smells AMAZING and works just as well or better than this lotion. So I’m going to stick with that because ease of application is most important. It’s about constant hydration which means the easier the application, the more you’ll apply it.

Works like a charm!

Just a little dab of this cream every day on my 17 month old’s tummy, rosey cheeks, and bum keep her eczema-prone areas soft and smooth. There is no strong smell with this cream. Other brands have heavy scents, but this one is very clean smelling. We use other Baby Ganics products, too. It’s great stuff!

Great thick moisturizer for hands and eczema prevention

We really like this Eczema lotion. We have a young kid with eczema that needs constant moisturizing to keep in check. The gold standard is the petroleum-based lotions, but so far, this stuff works almost as well. It is made with various seed oils and oatmeal. It goes on nice and thick and does the job.Likes:- Size. 8 oz tubes are pretty big, but still portable.- Works great. Thick, moisturizing, non-irritating, and the effect lasts.- Great for dry hands as well. Put some on to protect your skin before you do rough or dirty tasks. Cleaning your hands later is so much easier.- Scent. No fragrance but a very slight pleasant aroma. The price is reasonable. Highly recommended.

Great for adults too!

I know this is for babies, however my son’s eczema has gone away for the time being, so I decided to try it for my super dry hands and feet. It works! It instantly stopped the itchiness on my hands and the ashiness was gone! I use it only once a day, I am horrible with putting lotion on my hands and I’m a constant hand washer and instant hand sanitizer user so my hands are always dry. I am happy with this lotion!

Very Effective Skin Cream

This cream is very effective on our infant granddaughter’s dry patchy skin – the results are almost immediate, and the the organic ingredients are reassuring. It’s even effective on my adult hands, which get very dry, cracked and chapped in the winter. The cream is a little on the greasy side, with a mildly odd aroma (perhaps from the oats in the formula). But these are minor quibbles for a product that works so well.

The best thing for my toddler’s eczema

My little one started showing the signs of eczema at about 15 months. I tried some of the standard products at the store, like Aveeno as well as California Baby. While I do love California Baby products, the Babyganics Bye Bye Dry has been the most consistent in keeping her from having breakouts. I’ve been using it for about a year now and I use it on her daily. If she does get a flare up, I mix a tiny bit of Cortisone (don’t like the idea of applying it directly to her skin, even though her pediatrician said it would ok) with the lotion and within a day or two, the flare up is completely gone, regardless of how bad it is. It’s also a great price, especially considering it’s quite thick but spreads easily so you don’t need a ton of it. A 4 oz tube lasts about a month or longer, depending if I had to use extra for a flare up.

No in love, but it works okay

My kids have REALLY dry skin in the winter with patches of eczema. I have a hard time finding things that work that are convenient. With this I found my 4 year old is scared of it because it burns him. I think if he’d let me use it several times a day and we got the major dryness away that wouldn’t be an issue but right now he will only let me put coconut oil on him, which does not cause any uncomfortable feeling, but it is greasy and does stain, which I don’t like so much. I do use this on my daughter who’s skin is not as dry and she likes pretty well. She uses it before bed and puts socks on her hands and she’s good to go. That one application each day is enough. I also like it pretty well. I like that it’s not greasy or super thick like other eczema cream I’ve used in the past, but it doesn’t have that thick barrier either. So I think I’m okay with that, because I had a tendency to not use the other kinds because it was too thick and I could only use it before bed. This stuff I can slather on at any time and it soaks in fairly quickly. It doesn’t have much of a smell but my sister in law smelled it and at first said it stunk. After careful sniffing we decided it was more like an oatmeal like scent. Because it’s so light it’s not a real issue for me. I prefer to not have any added scents anyway, unless it’s something natural that can be added.I’m still on the fence about this. We’ve had it a little less then a month and I think that I need to use it a little longer to know whether I’d buy more of it. I’m going to attempt using it on my son again as soon as I can get his skin a little less raw. I don’t like that he says it burns and that’s kind of a big issue. It’s actually so bad he bawled for a very long time when we used it the first couple times before I decided it just wasn’t worth it.

Top contender

I used BabyGanics Bye Bye Dry Eczema Care Cream, admittedly, for a someone who is not a baby and who does not have eczema. But in a parent’s desperation, I needed a good moisturizer, and fast. My 6-year old son has severe dry skin in the winter, although the doctors have never told me that it’s actually eczema. It seems to be a seasonal issue for him, so every winter I find myself looking for something better and more powerful than last year’s moisturizer. While I’m not sure Eczema Care is the crowning winner, I am sure it’s one of the top contenders. The cream didn’t sting as it went on his sensitive skin, and after a few days of using it I noticed a faint but definite difference in the smoothness of his skin. The dryness seems to be under control, and I’ll continue using the cream at least for the rest of this winter season. I even tried the cream myself for a while during last week’s cold snap. I noticed the cream felt smooth and didn’t sting or burn as it hit my dry, wind-damaged legs. The cream was a little hard to spread out, and I wonder if a baby would find this annoying, especially since it means stretching and pressing on already sensitive skin. But the cream was ultimately soothing for both my son and myself. I’m guessing that the colloidal oatmeal is one of the most helpful ingredients, as he always improves after colloidal oatmeal baths. I’m glad that the ingredients are natural and organic, and when I look for another moisturizer next winter I may find it hard to go back to harsher ingredients that are not as natural is Bye Bye Dry.

I like it

I did not get this for a baby. I have a real problem with dry skin in the winter. I am a natural red head so while my doctor says it is not eczema; I say it is pretty close. The itchy skin is awful. Some of the best-selling creams and lotions just stay on top of the skin. This is in a tube and looks like several other creams that I have used, but it is a lotion. It stopped my itch, but I haven’t gotten the thick raised places this winter so I can’t really say anything about that. I like that there are no sulfates, phthalates, or petrolatum oils in this lotion. I like the naturalness of this lotion. When using something as often as I find myself using lotion I appreciate something that doesn’t have added extra toxins.I think that when I have some of my serious problems, that I would have to use a cream, because it is thicker, but I may not have that problem if I continue to use this lotion every day. I like it, so if our new baby has problems we will certainly use it for him.

Pasty feel, doesn’t absorb well

I like the neutral scent of this lotion and it seems to be a fair moisturizer, but it leaves a sticky/tacky feel and doesn’t rub in well, so I definitely wouldn’t buy it again. It’s not objectionable otherwise, but it’s unremarkable. Doesn’t make skin feel especially great, or improve condition of eczema at all (but doesn’t inflame it either), but it’s good enough not to throw out (just not good enough to buy again). The only oatmeal products I’ve otherwise used are aveeno & I didn’t have this problem with it, but maybe the oatmeal content of this is higher. If you imagine plopping some oatmeal on your arm and trying to rub it in, that’s an (exaggerated, but still) approximation of the problem.

Good stuff

This lotion is thick but not greasy. Has a light oatmeal scent. Very glad we ordered it for our young son.

Works great for kids & adults

Both my son & I have very dry and scaly skin. This lotion has helped us both. It is hard for me to put this in words but this lotion does not feel like any lotion that I have used before. Maybe it is the better, natural ingredients, but I feel as if I am using a high quality lotion. It is not as oily and is more consistent in texture. Other lotions may feel soft and easy to rub in but do not seem to last for me. This seems like a better quality. It rubs on and feels as if it stays. I use to worry about washing my son’s hands too much because of his skin but it seems as if this lotion lasts through washings. I am very impressed with this product. My entire family will continue to use this.

Really helped our son’s eczema

We have been struggling with eczema on our child since he was 4 months old. We have tried all the natural things we could come up with. Plus, some over the counter, more traditional remedies, with no improvement. I came upon this product and thought I would give it a shot. He had dry patches all over his back and sides. We applied to his skin a couple of times a day and it has made a huge difference. We have been using it for one month and as long as we are consistent, it is definitely making a big difference. I love that it is natural and does not have any harsh odors or chemicals. I highly recommend this cream.

Gratefully using on adults, not babies in this household

For dry skin, sensitive skin, rashes or eczema, it’s difficult to find a product containing ingredients that aren’t offensive or questionable. We’ve gone through an array of creams, lotions, ointments and sprays throughout the years and have found some are more effective than others. For the body, we like Gold Bond Gold Bond Ultimate Healing Skin Therapy Lotion but the bottle is nearly empty. On a whim, we requested the Babyganics Bye Bye Dry Eczema Lotion, 8 Ounce (Pack of 2) and were pleasantly surprised with two large tubes of a lotion offering no discernible fragrance, no greasy feeling, in a well absorbed foundation that leaves no residue. It’s main ingredient is colloidal oatmeal as in Aveeno, and it is free of parabens, sulfates, phthalates, toxins, mineral oil, petrolatum, artificial fragrances or colors. So, what is in it? The list of inactive ingredients begins with water, shea butter, alcohols, glycerin, cocoa butter, and continues with other fruit and seed oils and then some. All together, this is an impressive lotion that borders on a cream and within moments of applying it to my dry hands with cracked skin, I’m once again typing away on the computer without leaving greasy spots or stains on the keyboard and my skin feels much better. My Dad has eczema, so guess what he’ll be receiving from Amazon next month when he gets his routine shipment of Yummy Earth Organic Candy, 5 Pound Bag. It will be added to his Subscribe and Save delivery if that is an option.

great product

I use this for my boys who both have eczema. One has it worse than the other and this works for them both. Highly recommend it!

This stuff does not smell pretty, but it’s effective

What I like about it: it’s a substantial salve and stays on the skin. I apply it at night and my skin is still quite well lubricated and protected by morning. What I’m not as crazy about: It stinks! Has a sulfur smell.

Charity Sumner, MI

Seen results in 2 days…

My 10 month old has skin irritation on back and belly. I purchased Aveeno Eczema Therapy, she gets relief but no improvement, rash is and irritation still the same. Came on Amazon and purchased this one. The cream is thicker and stays on, love it. Rash was gone in 2 days. This stuff really works. Will continue to buy.

Did the job.

This did a great job and helped clear up the patch on the back of my daughter’s leg.

Great Product!

This lotion is great! It’s thick and rich and absorbs very quickly into the skin. I also appreciate that it doesn’t leave a greasy film behind. The scent is very pleasant and not strong at all. I would definitely recommend this product for those suffering from eczema or those who just want a good moisturizing lotion, especially during the winter months.

Adela Rose, NY

A very good cream!

I occasionally get dry patches and this cream works miracles! It’s not too greasy, absorbs quickly and does not leave a sticky film. Moreover, it quenches any itching I might have associated with a dry patch

Nice, Thick, Creamy Lotion

I get mild eczema during the colder, winter months. Since I have not been able to find over-the-counter eczema cream for adults, I always head to the baby counter. A lot of the eczema creams are just thick lotions. I haven’t been able to find my favorite that I’ve been using for years, so I thought I’d give this a try.You only need to use a pea size drop of this lotion. It’s very thick and creamy. You need to rub it a bit longer than regular lotion in order to rub it completely into the skin. There’s no slick feeling afterwards. Right after I use it, I can pick up a coffee cup without it slipping.I’ve been using this for almost three weeks twice a day and have not had a flair up even though it’s been bitterly cold in So. CA. The one spot where I had a problem has cleared up nicely. The tubs are quite large so I expect these to last some time. At least a couple of winters.

Deborah Stanfield, AZ

I like it!

I like this cream quite a bit even though I was also able to try the non-petroleum ointment version which I didn’t care for. I am giving 4 instead of 5 stars because I think it is over priced. I would say that $8-$9/tube is more fair. The lotion has a faint oatmeal scent (contains colloidal oatmeal). I really like the way it feels, goes on nicely and has very little to no wet/oily/greasy feel to it. To me, it actually feels kind of silky, like I’ve applied baby powder rather than a wet cream. The longevity of feeling nourished is satisfactorily lasting. I would consider repurchasing this instead of a calming cream from Neutrogena that I have used in the past.

Deidra Denhoff, ND

Great lotion, but not sure how effective it is against eczema

This is a nice lotion, good formulation with quality ingredients and no unnecessary fragrance or color additives. It is a relatively light formulationi and has a nice skin feel, after it dries it leaves the skin feeling moist but not too greasy despite the inclusion of shea butter. That said, we didn’t find it to be very effective against our daughters moderate eczema. Whereas Aquaphor and CeraVe cream both had a noticeable effect, we didn’t notice any improvement from the Babyganics lotion. Aquaphor and CeraVe are both heavier products than this lotion, so perhaps on a very light case of eczema it would be effective. At any rate, it does make a nice general purpose moisturizer. I probably wouldn’t purchase it again though due to the high price compared to CeraVe which we find works much better.

Hattie Bobtown, PA

Very Good and Netral

By Neutral, I mean almost no scent. This lotion feels more like a very heavy cream, i.e. it does not run. A couple of days ago I ran a test with it: I tried to fix a bad hair coloring job and washed scalp about 6 times with different agents. Do you know what it does to your skin?? I thought it would peel off: the burning and scratchy sensation… What to do?? I thought of this lotion that I ordered just for my hands. Since I have a very short hair, it was not difficult to apply it all over my scalp. 1 day and 2 applications later no signs of any distress, all negative symptoms are gone!DISCLAIMER: Please don’t follow my example just because it worked for me. Rather, read and follow the product usage instructions: I am not sure if the manufacturer recommends this lotion for head, scalp or face, but I dared to try and live to tell a happy result. Your mileage may vary…

Works for Mild Eczema

My two year old suffers from mild eczema that stays under control with twice daily application of Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion. I thought I’d give this stuff a try though, since it was more natural.I found that while the smell of this lotion isn’t strong, I don’t care for it. It’s not that it’s repulsive, I just don’t like it. It kind of smells like white school glue to me.It is also a little difficult to rub it into the skin. It takes a little extra time to get it on the skin without a white residue. My two year old dislikes getting her lotion put on anyway and is pretty squirmy, so this is another slight negative for me. It’s not too bad. It just takes a little extra time.On the plus side, it keeps her eczema at bay, which is the whole point, right? That’s why I ended up giving it four stars. Finally, it is pricey, but that seems to be what you get for a product that is more natural. It is pretty thick too, so a little goes a long way.

Gay Shutesbury, MA

Not too heavy, not too light, just right!

The consistency is like a medium weight cream. It is not thick like pure shea butter, nor is it drippy like lotion. Thick enough to protect and comfort our 2 year old’s occasional eczema flair ups. I also have been using it for chapped winter skin and love it! No toxins, parabens, sulfates, phthalates, petrolatum, colors or fragrances. What could be improved? Would like to see it packaged in glass with pump *or* post consumer recycled plastic. All in all, we are loving this product and would buy again. Thanks for reading. I hope this review was helpful!
