Downgraded … and for good reason …

Original review April 2012This conditioner deserves 1,000 stars. I’ve been using Schwarzkopf conditioner, which in my book, is THE BEST conditioner ever! But this!!! This Alterna Caviar Anti-aging Seasilk is unbelievable! I washed my hair last nite and put it in a “bun”. This morning? OMG!! My hair doesn’t even LQQK like MY hair. It is so wavy, and bouncy and silky. It’s the “bounce” that has me shocked. I just can’t get over it! Amazing!EDIT: June 1, 2012Okay folks. I’m downgrading this conditioner from 5 stars to 3*. I’m also leaving my original review so you can see I WANTED to love this conditioner, and initially, I did. Until 6 weeks passed, and I noticed a gradual change in my hair.Remember in my original review I said, “this doesn’t even LQQK like my hair” …?Well, here we are 2 MONTHS out, and let me tell you … this stuff dried out my hair in a really bad way. THAT is the reason why I didn’t recognize my hair. It had so much body & bounce because my normally oily hair had been stripped of all it’s natural oils. Eventually, I had to cut off most of my hair. 14 inches!!! That’s how bad it was. Even with a “bob” cut, my ends still seem a bit dry.I’m going back to Schwarzkopf and Leonor Greyl.Adios Alterna!

This stuff is amazing. I have coarse curly hair that is thinning a bit. This makes your hair so incredibly soft and smells very nice. Your hair stays soft and silky and very manageable between shampoos. Pricey but worth it to me. And a little goes a long way. It will last a while.

Helps tame my challenging hair

My hair tends to be more like a steel wool pad than soft or silky, but this is one of the few products I’ve ever tried that helps it feel and act a little more civilized. Works well, rinses out cleanly, not over-scented…really my favorite.Definitely hooked, and you will be too!

Excellent Smoothing Conditioner

Great conditioning results for my hair that lasts long after the showering is over. I can’t say that about every conditioner I’ve spent money on. The ingredients in this line (shampoo and conditioner) really do what they promise. I have coarse hair that is fickle and doesn’t hold conditioner well – not much can penetrate the strands on my hair to soothe and soften them. But this line does. For that reason, I will buy this again when I run out. Highly recommended for stubborn hair – even as a leave-in should you need it (just a small drop will do ya, should you use it that way instead).

Great product

This is the best conditioner I’ve ever tried. It is expensive but I have long, thick hair, which I probably wash 1-2x a week, so the large pump bottle I purchased has lasted a LONG time. I’m not sure I could justify it otherwise. It has a light, lovely floral scent and rinses out well. I like to let it sit in my hair for at least a few minutes before rinsing. I usually blow out my hair with a round brush but with this conditioner I can sometimes just let it air dry and it still looks okay. Really eliminates frizz and controls volume, but it doesn’t make your hair greasy after a day or two like a lot of heavy conditioners that eliminate frizz by weighing the hair down. I was previously usingAlterna Hemp Straight ConditionerandDavines Conditioner, Momowhich are both good products but the caviar seasilk conditioner has worked miracles on my hair. I’m a fan!

Best conditioner (and shampoo) I have EVER used.

This stuff is amazing, point blank. Problem?? It is VERY expensive, even at a bargain rate here on Amazon. But as many reviewers here have stated, if you’re careful with the amount you use, it should last you a long time. I have (barely) shoulder length, fine hair and I use a dime+ sized amount of product. The price tag is in my head whenever I reach for the bottle, so I make sure to be frugal with this stuff.I have very fine, processed hair. My main concerns prior to using Caviar: dryness, dullness, hair loss/thinning.I’ve been using Caviar for a few weeks now (I actually had a travel set prior to this purchase) and can honestly say that I notice HUGE differences in my hair quality. One of the striking results is that my hair is far less greasy in between washings than it has EVER been. I typically have dry and greasy hair, which is a horrid combination. By the end of the day, my hair typically looks visibly greasy and oily despite a morning washing. Well, NOT now. Now I can go a whole day between washings (huge for me) and my hair still looks pretty fresh and healthy. I’m really astonished by this.As far as moisturizing benefits go, Caviar is FANTASTIC. It leaves your hair weightlessly and effortlessly moisturized. My hair never feels filmy or heavy as it does when I used other moisturizing shampoos.Though my pocket book is telling me NO, I can’t see myself changing to another hair routine now that I am using this one. This is totally worth the extra money and I just can’t get over how well it actually works. Buy with confidence. If you’re unsure, try a sample/travel set by Alterna first.
